Our first R8 Spyder showed up!

Recommended Posts

I was actually in training that day, but a co worker took some quick pics of this car.

Enjoy!

I won't lie to you, I wouldn't have any issues taking this over a Gallardo, even if they were closer in price.

At that delta, it seems like a steal. Unless you must have an Italian car and can't imagine paying that much for a German one.

Edit- looking at the pics again, Yup. I need to change my shorts too. That thing is sex on wheels. And I usually don't like Audis.

Eh, anyone with a viper? Which you could probably buy with the money you would save by buying a used v8 and doing a super charger.

My old boss used to say that only porn directors should drive vipers.

The R8 is easily one of my favorite looking "super"cars.

I'd be hard pressed to buy a Firerrari or Lambo over one of these. Make it a diesel, and I'm in for it.

I don't know if I'd get the 'vert, but I'd certainly consider it.

It's such a stupid argument "buy the cheaper car and spend the difference modding it".

The new 5.0 Mustang vs. the M3. The 5.0 costs less. It would stomp the M3 if you spent the difference in mods. I'd still rather have the M3, slower or not.

There are those with something to prove, and those who just want to enjoy.

Agreed, Cars are not priced by horsepower although in certain price ranges the buyer has certain expectations.

Here's a V12 for $11k  That's 20% more Ballin' for a small fraction of the price!

Pffff 12 cylinders are only cool when it's a W12 (not really)! The new A8 is actually going to be a pretty killer car. I've only seen the short wheel base V8 version so far, but there is going to be another W12 coming that is 500hp.

The R8 looks better as a hard top but the vert does look good. I know someone in my complex that drives one daily rain or shine and he loves it. For $170k plus I would be searching for a used Gallardo Superleggara with low miles.

This car was brand new and was already on a lift, I can only assume it broke down. What a German POS. That's why I bought a Legacy instead. Plus it does much better in snow and I can put more stuff in it.

What I am saying is I guess I'm trying to figure out what I did wrong in life that I can't afford one.

.

It's getting the new car inspection done and the suspension blocks removed. If it wasn't for ground clearance R8s actually do pretty good in the snow. We have a customer that puts snow tires on his for the winter.

can't agree in this case, where the cheaper car is a '10 911 turbo (which even stock handily stultifies the r8 in every column), and where the first few coins of the excess 20 grand is earmarked to buy a highlighter for your ruf catalog :)

not for nothing, but viewed in that light, imo the guy with something to prove buys the more ostentatious audi.

all that said (derived from my powerball-winning-fantasy-first-car-to-buy dilemma), i wouldn't kick it out of my garage

Your not getting the argument. Same car just different motor. I'm talking about a v10 R8 vs v8 R8, your still getting the same level comfort etc. Well, I'm not 100% sure that the v10 comes with the same options as the v8, but lets assume for now. So you have virtually the same car with an engine putting out more power for less money. The only difference is you don't have the v10 logo on the back.

But your not thinking correctly, power potential and powerband in the v10 is far greater. You can put a turbo or S/C on a v6 mustang or camaro and make more power than the v8 does stock just like almost any car that has a v6 base models. If everyone thought like you did then the v8 models wouldnt be needed. Luckly we dont, we all know if you buy the v10 and put a supercharger on that that it will still rick roll the v8 supercharger or not, same with putting a turbo/s/c on a v6 camaro vs putting one on a v8 camaro. The v8 still has far more potential. Besides not many peple are gonna sepnd 80k+ on a v8 R8 and then supercharge it and have no warrenty.
