KurtP
differences? EcuFlash seems nice because its Mac compatible...anyone tune with it though?
LGTspecB1657615261
RomRaider is great for modifying maps and building the tables up. EcuFlash is great for flashing those maps to the ECU.
KurtP
But romraider isn't mac compatible?
rao
You need them both. Ecu Flash can pull maps from the ECU and flash them onto the ECU. Rom Raider (and some other programs there is at least one java-based program) allow you to modify the maps. LGTspecB1657615261
Pick up a cheap windows-based laptop for the car. I keep mine in the car at all times just in case. My justification for buying a laptop was the cost of a COBB accessport. That, and my car was $28,000... so a $300 laptop to always have on hand for tuning was cheap insurance. KurtP
So if I'm running the one mac compatible and the other in Linux that should work or do both have to be in windows?
Th3Franz
Get windows so you can run the Learning View program too. That little program is so handy! -Franz The end of a Legacy http://www.youtube.com/th3franz
NSFW
You can do the editing with EcuFlash if you want. However I'm only aware of two data loggers (RomRaider and Lumberjack (http://www.codeplex.com/ssm)) and they are both Windows-only. You could try running the loggers under Parallels, or VMWare, or whatever windows emulation you have handy... I have no idea whether that works or not but it's worth a try. KurtP
yeah I have a windows 7 disk that I would really rather not install on the lap top, but i may just do it, and then set the thing up under boot camp to dual boot.
tsunami
I use vmware fusion to run windows xp for using these programs on my macbook.
j255c
ECU flash can tune it just as well. I also like how you can see the MAF curves. Should like like a nice parabola under most applications if you have aftermarket shtuff. Romraider is just more colorful, has some more detail in some sections, and a slightly simpler design, much like cobb's software. 06 TB EVO IX SE stock turbo monster subaru hater
rtbrjason
Running windows in parallels on a mac works well for logging or flashing, but I would not recommend flashing while running parallels. I have had it force quit on me once or twice. Best bet for flashing with your mac is to use bootcamp to boot windows natively. I agree that you should really just use a windows environment for tuning though. You'll want at least Ecuflash, Romraider, Learning Viewer and Excel. Excel on a mac sucks. I also like some features in Simpletune. I more often than not use Ecuflash for tuning as it's so much easier to copy/paste into.
B-BGTLimited
The words Open Source and MAC just don't go hand and hand... lol
fishbone
^you mean Apple, because Mac works great with Open Source. OS X is unix certified. It doesn't get more open source than that.

matt
If you have a Tactrix 2.0 you can log directly to a micro SD flash card. You'll need to upgrade its firmware to the latest beta version using Windows. Uninstall any existing version of EcuFlash *AND* the OpenPort/Tactrix drivers, reboot, then install the latest EcuFlash beta. Plug in the Tactrix, run EcuFlash, and go to Help -> Licensing to trigger a firmware upgrade. Read the stand-alone logging instructions carefully if you decide to go this route.
