quick4dr
so with all the debates on brand, and flex vs. no flex. what is the simplified general theory on uppipes? this is an average spread of the pipes available, which is better/ experiences? STi stock- 60. shipped Invidia -13x.xx shipped ERZ- 9x.00 shipped Greddy- 10x.00 gtspec- 14x.xx I have searched alot and done my reading now i just need a little push to the popular safe choice. scoobydoobie
not looking into aftermarkets w/a flex section? Your list is missing two of the best ones IMO, Grimmspeed and TurboXS
Darkness of Death
general theory is that the flex is a pro and con. pro. it can flex- easier on install. con. the flex joint breaks . i went with a grimmspeed myself
LosAngelesLGT
You completely missed the M2 UP. I have one. Flatsforlove has one. MSprank check em out to see if they fit too. I got mine for $10 + $20 shipping on ebay. Nice stainless piece. Good welds. Pics are on here somewhere. I can find em if you want.
quick4dr
kk, ive read about this m2 pipe, but am skeptic to just to cheap to be good. any other feedback is greatly appreciated.
GTTuner
IMHO, a stock gutted UP is your best choice. The stock pipe is refered to as a "flex" but it actually does not "flex". It is designed to be "telescopic", meaning the length of it will grow and shrink with heat cycles. My solid Invidia cracked, it seems like either solid ones are cracking or flex aftermarket units leak from the flex over time. A stock UP has the proper heat shielding for minimal thermal loss and management of under hood temps also.

It is a small piece of pipe with flanges. If the welds are clean and good, it is all good. Most of this stuff comes from the same place anyway bro. These have clean welds, no boogers, easy install, etc Another LGT owner and his money seperated
sactojesse
What about the Bosal uppipe? As the OEM manufacturer for Subaru, isn't the Bosal uppipe pretty much a stock uppipe w/out the cat and EGT bung, but with all the stock heat shielding? http://www.oakos.com/Merchant2/graphics/00000001/BOS-999-391.jpg

I'd have to see inside the pipe to determine if it is an OE type. Sure looks like it!

gotsflat4love
I am rocking the M2 up as LALGT has stated. I paid $52 to my door. You can ready through reviews of everything and no matter how much you spend, you will always see some cons. I mean people spend $200 on an up and get a crack or leak. This will happen to every brand. LALGT is right, the welds were legit. I have a small leak, but that can happen with any up. Each vehicle is different. Hope this helps. doctorbrody
Also might want to think about the UP's internal diameter - it varies from brand to brand. I have an Invidia, no cracks after 30k miles.

Catalyst
How crazy scary of a process is gutting the stocker? I know for the DP it's not bad at all, but I thought people avoided this because of the effort needed in order to spotlessly and effectively clean the cat out. Turbo failure would suck. Bring it to me, I'll clean that thing out so you can eat food from it. Actually, it's not that bad. Gutted mine in under a half hour, including the "precision cleaning" . sactojesse
Buy it. Thanks. I just ordered one. I've been looking at the Bosal because I want stock looks and heat shielding, but I'm leery of getting a used STI uppipe with busted/stripped studs. doctorbrody
Is the OEM pipe stainless too? I thought it was iron. For the big dollar option, how about a Cobb inconel UP? Doubt that would crack anytime soon!
Gmoe
Anyone running a crucial up? I have (what I've been told) is a crucial up that was thrown in for cheap by the guy I bought my dp from. Hell if I know for sure though. It's used, looks in good shape though, but has no markings I could see.
