Chump car challange

Honestly, I see lots of good options on there. Maybe we should buy a roll of each, and apply to our car/our neighbors as we see fit.

It would be fun to wrap the doors with it...

I'm thinking this would be perfect if anyone has some old American Iron: http://www.prankplace.com/product.aspx?d=Crime-Scene-Tape.VESSEL-IS-NOT-SEAWORTHY-POLICE-TAPE&p=3486&c=35

I like the "Caution @$$hole zone" tape.

Next Chump Car meet:

Saturday, May 15th, at 10am to 6pm ish. After the meat there will be a post meet at teh clubs in Seattle. You may want to bring a change of close and you can even shower (LB has promised to bring a loofah brush and offered to scrub people down).

At this meat the plan will be to get the engine and tranny into the Pony, finish up the wiring, and install the fuel pump. It should be running by the time the day is up.

Alright HLS can't make it so I'm just gonna get ready there. I sent an invite to my buddy, Bill, to meet at the chump car event so we can all bs before we head out. Did everyone get focus ur info for our table?

Wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle yeah!!!

I am planning on ordering the seat, seat rails, and 6 point harness this week. I need to know if we should buy one that fits a 36" waist or a 38" waist. I figure that we should get a 36" one. I don't see any big boys in our future.

Also, I talked to a cage builder in Gig Harbor and he is going to HOOK US UP!!! He will sell us the metal at cost and do the work for cheap. We'll be putting some of his decals and stickers on the Pony. He is also going to notch and weld the cage in as an included thing just because he wants to. If anyone needs any roll cage work, bumpers, or other fab work this is the guy to talk to. http://www.stainlessbrainfab.com

Just got off of the phone with the roll cage guy. He normally wants $2,500 but would do it for $1,400. I told him thanks anyway. We will be buying one from http://www.rollcagecomponents.com who are Chump Car sponsors and we can get it for $489 + shipping Which could be as much as $200. I can't order it until we have the seat mounted and tested for our tallest driver (Spoon/NSFW) then we can measure and order.

Just got off of the phone with http://www.rollcagecomponents.com and he already has measurements for a Escort and the price is $489 + 130 shipping! Very nice guy to deal with.

All of you guys racing that have a ball and chain can tell them that this guy adds three extra bars for extra safety!

It was awesome. 60 acres of wide-open land for Bella to run around on, amazing views of Mt Adams and Mt Hood, and a jaw-droppingly gorgeous set of thunderstorms running from horizon to horizon at sunset on Sunday (no pics of that one, I was busy).

It's her dad's place up in the hills outside of Lyle - he's had the land for years, but just finished building the house, and he was nice enough to let her bring half a dozen people out for her birthday before he moves out there this summer. Little comfy house, three-car garage (for his raft!), and a bunch of land with a view like that? Sign me up!

Just finished buying the following things so that we can hammer away at some punch list items:

Wink mirror (5 panel)

Steering wheel

Quick release for above wheel

Oil temp gauge

Water temp gauge

Kill switch

Roll cage padding

Hood pins

2 Neck collars/braces

I am also bidding on a window net with included attachment bar that ends in 2 days.

Tomorrow I'll be ordering the race seat and harness from Outback Auto. I'll also be ordering an oil filter relocation kit from Baxter's Auto Parts and the tires very soon!

David and Nick I need some monies. My next step is to pay for the drivers and the rest of the entry fees. We have $500 of the $1,775 paid so far.

On a closely related note, we need to talk about going to the Spokane race (July 23-25). We'll need a head count so that we know how much room we'll need. It would be nice to go over on Friday Morning and come back Sunday afternoon. I hope that everyone can take that Friday off so that we can all travel together.

Tommy, I'll need to know what all is available to rent from the base and how large they are for towing reasons. Two tent trailers would be the easiest and cheapest to tow and rent. I have confirmed with my father in law that we can use his motor home (it sleeps 6) and it can tow a camping trailer as well as the OBXT can tow a tent trailer. I am still working on camping locations at or near by the track.

To keep costs down we can just all do in tents. I have several of those and then we wouldn't have to pay for a higher fuel cost and the cost of renting trailers. The down side is heat (Spokane in July) and bugs.

As far as food to save money we can plan menus for the weekend and pool money to buy it all. We could take turns with the cooking duties to make everyone happy.

This should turn out to be a fun event. Both Kyle's and my wife are coming and I encourage you to bring a lady friend too (even if she isn't real...Nick). If anybody has any other ideas let us know. Maybe we can have some "Team My Little Pony Express" tee shirts made up by then that we could wear.

The list of people coming that I know of is:

Aaron

Carrie

Kyle

Erin (Kyle's wife)

Zach

David

Nate

Tommy

Still need to hear from the following:

Ryan

Nick

Helga? (Nick's wife)

Tana

Katy (Spoon's "friend")

More late night posting. Drivers, I have gotten the prices DIALED in on the Chump Car spreadsheet on ht e Google Wave site. It basically says that with 7 drivers the costs are at $5,350.04. Those numbers don't include exhaust (hoping for a sponsor) or personal equipment (Fire Suit and Helmet).

That come out to $765/driver + 450 (for personal safety gear if all bought at www.cs-gear.com, the cheapest "new" that you can buy it) =$1,215.

There are few things that we might need here and there and there are also a couple of things that I still have laying around that I'm trying to sell on the Escort Forum to recoup some $$. So the price may go up or down but I don't think by much.

That's http://www.cs-gear.com; I spent a few fruitless minutes trying to find racing gear on the other one

Also, Abbi is a friend of the "friend" ;) But I'll check with Katy about Spokane anyway :p
