mattejb
Okay....well...this is for people that have driven the new car. Me first! I test drove a 2.5i limited in blue (so it has the CVT) No fake shifts, at least not that I could tell. Didn't bother me, though I didn't really get on it. The shifts when using the "manual" mode felt good. Seats are pretty nice, more comfortable then the current legacy but I didn't take the corners too fast. I have seen the car a number of times already (NY Auto show, PA rally race) but this one with the blue and tan leather looked great! Love the Blue! I am just about sold on it. camber
I thought the new Legacy would be more palatable to me after more real world pictures. However, the more I see of it, the more critical I become of its design.

Viber
That interior looks like it is from a Lexus or an Audi From ten years ago maybe. Have you sat in a recent Audi A4. The USDM 2010 LGT interior looks cheap and only a notch higher than what you would expect to see in a corrolla http://www.roadfly.com/new-cars/wp-content/uploads/gallery/audi-a4-avant/audi-a4-avant-interior.jpg

b4wantab
Interesting JDM review of the OB. He spent some time on the SI drive, so they must still be pushing it over there. Also didn't like the parking brake. Hum...... Peace, Greg
katalyst
it really doesn't look half as bad in person, and i think it will sell well since it can compete with the accord and camry comfortably. also i think the general public will accept it as a good vehicle for their needs. it's just not something we wanted, but that's ok. on to better things for us. IwannaSportSedan
it really doesn't look half as bad in person, and i think it will sell well since it can compete with the accord and camry comfortably. also i think the general public will accept it as a good vehicle for their needs. it's just not something we wanted, but that's ok. on to better things for us. See, now that last thing is just the problem. On to WHAT? What out there is a proper successor, or improvement on the 05-09 Legacy GT. I like SVXs, too, but the object lesson there is that at some point, the cars get OLD, and become more scarce, and harder to continue to support. Not impossible, and still is worth the trouble... but machines are not forever young. If Subaru was changing around, and was going to offer something else for me, to be enthusiastic about, I might be in a better frame of mind about it. But the Subaru/Toyota coupe is just rumor and conjecture until they officially show us something, and is still YEARS away, which is plenty of time to get "cancelled" again. And it doesn't do much for those who need more than a coupe, but something other than a Subaru-flavored camry. And it is not as if the rest of the market is just teeming with wonderful options for the technologically-minded (likes boxer engines and AWD usually is someone more technically-inclined) enthusiast on a budget. Maybe an Infiniti G37. Maybe a used Porsche, and service-bill sticker-shock... There are a couple of things... but I was really hoping that Subaru would continue to build people like me at least SOME sort of product. It is too bad that Subaru thinks that 5-door means the automotive equivalent to Quasimodo, rather than something closer to "sleek-sport-sedan-with-liftback." Honestly, if someone needs a wagon-esque 5-door, bread-van lookin' thing, why not just get a proper Forester XT Sport (that Subaru should build...) I wish the GR-chassis based lineup looked like this: (and would let Legacy go the way of Camry, and leave it behind...) 1: 4-door sedan with a trunk. Pretty much as is, but not as ugly. Take over BL Legacy's looks, now that '10 Legacy has left them behind. 2: 5-door sleek sedan with a liftback, and shorter rear overhang. (instead of hunchback-5-door that they have now.) 3: 3-door sleek coupe, similarly sized, with an even lower, sleeker roofline, shared with Toyota as their joint project... Toyota being RWD. 4: Forester 5-door boxy modest CUV. Pretty much what it already is... offering a lower-ride-height sport package model with WRX-like performance, or conversely H6-engine smoothness and good, but less-fuel-thirsty torque, and good towing capability for it's GVWR. captainhook
I test drove this exact model yesterday just for kicks. (2.5i limited) By buddy is a salesman at the local Subaru dealership, so I got to beat the living snot out of it. Now obviously it's not fair to directly compare this car to my all around stage 2 GT, but I drove it and thought, "wow, this thing can't accelerate, stop, or turn worth a sh*t. . . compared to my car." To be fair though: it does handle alright considering its size, but I was able to make the tires scream through tight sweeping turns with only the anemic 2.5i powerplant. The seats I absolutely detest, I simply couldn't find a comfortable position in them at all. The Legacy was already short on side-bolsters, now there are none whatsoever. As for my 5EAT vs the CVT, no contest. The CVT is complete trash, it's the perfect stereotypical slushbox A/T you have no control over. It felt far more flimy and detached than my 5EAT. (which I consider FAR from perfect) I still say they're retarded for not adopting Mitsubishi's dual-clutch auto trans. CVT < 08 5EAT < Mitsu dual-clutch The paddles shifters are now mounted on the wheel instead of the steering column, which I'm personally not a fan of. The new paddles don't have a firm engagement click like my 08 does either. Side note for you manual guys: the 6 speed coming in the 2010 LGT will be cable-operated. The engine bay is just packed with terribly gaudy cheap-looking plastic. One impressive thing: the weight and extensive use of aluminum. The driver's door on the 2010 is obviously bigger than the door on my 08, and yet is easily 10lbs lighter. When I first got in it I slammed it by accident, lol. Forgot to add, the mpg was pretty impressive. (but not surprising considering it had no power) All in all, it is in fact a slow AWD Camry. I'm interested to drive the 6 cylinder once I can get my paws on that.
