collegemt
I am leaning towards house 2 as well, but going for a lower offer. I would say room sizes are comparible. However bathroom and kitchen updates can get expensive.

RochNY91TSI
I also like #2, but I'm curious -what are the taxes on each? My fiance and I are currently looking and around here, the taxes would be about 10,000-12,000+ per year on either of those.

Seems like anything in this area with an assessed value of 300k or more is near or above 10k a year for local and state taxes. Are we really getting bent over that much on taxes?? PhillyWilly
cul-de-sac is a huge plus in my book. id be happy with either of those garages. edit: wow! they are cheaper than i expected. a similiar house in a decent area around here would be twice as much. i need to move. franklin
#2 The lower taxes are the tipping point. Both are nice but for me quiter location and lower taxes FTW
zmarko
#2 definitely. Wish I could afford a house like that.
PhillyWilly
difference in tax of $600 is negligible. i wouldnt even consider it a factor. taxes are dirt cheap on both.

VTGT
If you do not mind me asking, what are the asking prices on both houses. Square footage? Acreage? That would help my decision. What I do know is that in the Northern Va area they would be 500,000+ I need to move to denver
Zed 2.0
#2. Highlands Ranch will be a far better place to live than anywhere in Aurora, even if it's out in the suburbs. PM me if you want a recommendation on a good general contractor for kitchen/bath (he's currently redoing my place right now).

fatbastard
#2...location is key for the kiddies. You won't have to worry about people flying down the street trying to bypass traffic and while it may need some updating, with the rough economy you should be able to find some killer deals on parts and labor and in the end you'll have what you want. By the way...those taxes are wicked low. I think a place like that by me would be well over 10k, hell I pay more than that for a condo.
PhillyWilly
NJ property taxes are the worst. i have many clients with million dollar homes and the taxes are 30,000+. even a 300k home and the taxes are 10,000+.
