Most recent of mine. Excuse the cell phone cam quality.

I think this would look FANTASTIC if you were to paint the racerX pipes and silver of the strut bar black to match the SubtSol alt cover. would really bring out the blues. (Opinions are like aholes, if you dont like it I'll just stfu). It would make things look less busy and more tuner-car/oem style. Love the blue.

The only problem with painting (most of) the RX pipes is that they will be scratched to shit by the time you reinstall them. That's why only my first 2 hot side pipes are painted and everything else has a brushed finish. I can "touch up" the brushed pipes with a scotchbrite pad after they're installed.

You need to try a couple of things if you want it painted: Fab up a couple of brackets for the racerX like I had when I was running it; wrap something around the pipes like they came when you install and tear the wrap off after in car; make sure you clear everything out of the way before installing; make sure you have a friend. Most importantly, sand, primer, sand, paint, sand, paint, sand, paint. Sand and paint a few more times.

I had a black painted RacerX that not only stayed black, I resold it and it was delivered still black (no idea if they managed to get it IN the car still black though

Thanks! That is a great idea and I would consider it if I were going to be keeping the RacerX in the long term. Will be switching to a Process West TMIC at some point this summer.

  • 2 weeks later...

Its gets dusty, but I also live near gravel roads and have a gravel driveway. So everything is always dusty.

And I added for now because you never know. lol I dont have anything else planned, but doesnt mean things wont change. Its a terrible addiction, as im sure everybody on this forum already knows.

^^ I think a lot of us have the Perrin decal in the same place on our manifolds. Haha. It looks good though. I'm taking my sticker off and thinking about plastidipping mine white while my motor is out. You know, to be different. Hahaha.

I can't wait to start my engine detailing business. :spin:

Here is one of the first cars I cleaned and detailed as an apprentice back in August.

Looks like what my family calls the krylon overhaul. My brother had a '70 chevy pickup with a krylon overhauled 305, that truck sold fast!

Seriously?!

I would have taken one look at that first engine bay and headed straight to the nearest career counselor.

Nice work.

i call photoshop, the date and time never change

I am using an iPhone app called "before and after." Needless to say, not too many editing features.

As far as elbow grease and hard work go, I scrub and get in hard spots as much as possible. I'll post another pic shortly.

This was a quick brief cleaning of my bay with the engine out. Didn't detail it because I want to wait until the motor is back in. (These are the best pictures I could present. Hahaha.

I need to touch up the scratched portions of the bay with white paint soon.

Close-Up of the crossmember completely cleaned of the thick and gross road and tranny grime.
