I think I can think of another one:

Honda Accord looks very much like the Acura RL of yesteryear.

The maxima's wheels aren't bad... and I do like blacked-out roofs... but the front end is a catfish. UGLY. And FWD. And no stick. No go on many levels.

The Maxima probably looks more like the CURRENT M-series in profile, not counting the M's much better front end. The Accord also looks a bit similar, as with the new TL and other new acuras.

Over-wrought, yet somehow still bland, seems to be the order of the day for the nissans, hondas, acuras, toyotas, and some lexuses. Thankfully the Infinitis still look nicely finished. I guess we'll see how Subaru lands on this issue with the '10 Legacy.

The old M is interesting, in that it isn't boring, but it is ever so slightly odd. In a bulldog sort of way, with a forward pointing profile, with more vertical aggressive surfaces on the front, and the windshield rake, with sleeker rake on the back glass and the tail panel surface. Even the face is a bit pushy and blocky looking.

I do wonder what those Maxima wheels would look like on an SVX, though... SVXs have taken a bit to fitting +1 and greater Nissan and Mazda OE wheels, or even Tribeca wheels, with 5x114 bolt pattern, with high offset, and not being too wide to fit...

Drove my buddies 09 with the Sport pkg...frikin loved it! Though the CVT is odd at first, it really works well. The Max handled great for a FWD car. Suspension is very well damped too...no float. I think it has obvious family resemblence to the Infinit G/M series, but overall I like it.

The seats were awesome and the red stitching on black leather was a nice touch. Engine sounds were a nice thoaty tone with surprising pull. I enjoyed looking out over the bulging front fenders...Not crazy about the full on frontal view of the grill but i think it's a very nice package overall.

One major concern of mine would be the longevity of the CVT.

I see no resemblance.

BTW, that last gen M45 was a bit of a hot rod. 340hp and I actually really like the design :hide:

+1

I've had a thing for the older M45 for years now. It will likely be my next car (still commanding a mid-$20's used price up here though:redface:), as I think they look very nice with some wheels and a little bit of lowering.

Put a mild exhaust on that V8 and you'll have Honda fan boys ducking for cover.

Plus they are OG VIP approved in Japan... not that I care about that.
