YouAreABus
Has everyone seen the headlights Audi is putting on their new cars? http://img.ledsmagazine.com/objects/news/3/10/23/AudiR82.jpg I would love to do somethig like this to mine, we even have a similar "dip" in the lights. I'm not trying to be a poser, nor do I wish I had bought an Audi, I just think they look bad-ass. There are a few flexible LED strips available on EBay, and I'm not afraid to try it out, I just don't have the spare money right now. If I were to do it, I would just have them come on as running lights, or maybe turn signals. If the were turn signals wouldn't they have to be amber? If so, I would just do them as running lights. What do you think?
Owentt
I saw one turning this AM while walking to work. At first I just saw the blinking turn signal and was like hrrm no LEDS... Then blink blink they came right back on after the turn signal went off. Very nice
YouAreABus
I think I like the A4's lights a little better. It looks like there are more bulbs and they are closer together. If I did it, I think they would come out more like this http://www.latimes.com/media/photo/2008-06/40095164.jpg EBay sells the LED strips in 24cm (about 9.5") and 48cm, it says they can be cut to fit every 3cm, but I think 24cm would be just about perfect. D0WNxSH1FT
My co-worker has a 2009 Audi A4 2.0T. The LED's are sweet as is the rear back up camera that has two lines to help navigate which bend depending on your steering wheel. Makes lining up to back into a spot extremely easy. The Audi guys use the S6 LED strip (goes in the bumper) to retrofit on B6 and B7 A4/S4's. Would be much easier to use.

Any idea the price on those, and are the flexible (in case the contours are not identical)? The EBay kits are $30-$50 for a pair, I know you get what you pay for to an extent, but if the Audi parts are a few hundred dollars I may end up taking my chances. D0WNxSH1FT
They are $300 or so. Not flexible at all. Here they are on a VW .:R32 http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3135/2409652550_73cfbbb344.jpg

grimbeaver
stole this off the legacy hk site. i usually think the audi stuff is tacky, but it somehow seems to work for me in this case...
MGV101
It's already been done on a Legacy here. http://www.legacy-hk.com/viewthread.php?tid=4553 Not my type of thing but I'll have to say that it does not look bad. It's quite a simple mod to do too (same difficulty as clearing your headlights). It's only a flexible LED strip placed under the piece of semi transparent plastic insert at the bottom of the JDM lamp housing. Edit: Grr... you beat me to it grimbeaver!! I was there when the lights were being installed (I helped out installing it). That car also had halos installed too but they burned out in less than a day. Didn't even have the chance to take a photo.
YouAreABus
DOWNxSH1FT - That R32 is nice, but not quite what I am going for. That Saab's lights are pretty sexy too, I like that you can't see the LED's but that probalby has to do with the lens that is being used Hanger - that was my intension, JK 8^)

Those are actually the stock position lights. JDM Legacy FTW!!!
Gire
Ricey, in my opinion. I don't even like them on the new Audis!
YouAreABus
Bastards! It's okay, that is still not quite what I had in mind. I really like the A4 lights exactaly, but the Saab lights are pretty cool as well, but probably much harder to do myself. I guess it is rice by definition (all show no go, not my style at all) but I think they are so cool!
urs1ne
Yes, I certainly think so, altezzas -> halos -> Audi LEDs I really like the look but I would never do it to my LGT, I guess I just have to buy an Audi now! lol ^ n00bs below this line
ebpda9
i really like that and i was toying with the idea of doing it to my legacy.
MDork
LEDs are going to take over...might as well get used to it. I love pulling behind a black car at night in the Turbo X...the eyebrow light looks super mean.

gershon
Ok I was sucked in. I found LED strips on eBay for $12 each including shipping. So I bought some to add into the headlights. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h163/gershon23/IMG_0885.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h163/gershon23/IMG_0887.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h163/gershon23/IMG_0890.jpg I plan to add a switch for them but for now I have them hooked up to my parking lights. FLEXN LegacyGT
+1^ for looking good. Is there any easy way to shorten the LED strip? I think it may look even better if you ended the strip before it runs across the amber.
YouAreABus
+2 yeah, those are almost exactly what I was thinking! I would probably shorten them a little as well, the ones I saw on eBay were a little more expensive, but could be shortened every 3cm. gershon - How long are those strips? Do you recall the vendor you bought them from? Also, you said you wired them to your parking lights, do they also flash with the turn signal?
