2005 SUBARU LEGACY 2.5I SDN/WGN

CUMMING, GA

Driving Conditions: Mostly City

Driving Style: Average

Miles Driven on Tires: 43,000

Would Buy Tire Again?: Yes http://www.discounttire.com/images/kotspacer.gifhttp://www.discounttire.com/images/grayLine.gifhttp://www.discounttire.com/images/kotspacer.gifhttp://www.discounttire.com/images/kotspacer.gifhttp://www.discounttire.com/images/kotspacer.gifThese came on my 2005 Subaru Legacy and I still have 2-3K tread life left. Great winter tire especially in ice and snow. I recommend rotating at each oil change to extend the life of any tire. I will buy these again.

I'm replacing my stock RE92's on my 05 LGT before winter. 46k miles now...

They aren't great but I definitely think they have been made out to be a lot worse than they are. I think a lot of driver's like to blame the tires instead of their bad driving.

I've definitely had a few close calls, in harsh driving conditions, i.e. pouring rain and slick snow. BUT just being careful at those times is usually enough to get out safely. I lost traction (fishtailed at 50mph) on the highway returning from a VT ski trip during a blizzard but luckily regained without incident...

As far as autocrossing and such, yeah these aren't the tires for you, but what stock tires are?

PS that was not my review on DTD!!!!!

Almost 54k on mine, and they still have 5/32-6/32 tread. I think you are probably right on all counts about RE92s. Mine have never seen snow or ice though.

These tires are fine for daily driving.

I've taken my whole family up to the BC mountains in the middle of winter driving on solid-ice covered highways.

None of us died, amazingly!!!!

I just love how everyone jumps on the bandwagon that these tires are pure death.

Are they worse in the summer than a dedicated summer tire? Yes.

Are they worse in the winter than a dedicated winter tire? Yes.

Are they the worst tire ever made by man? Jeez.......

Are they better than many others too? Sure they are.

Not really. Anything half the price of an RE92 on up is better in the same class of tire.

But really, is it all that surprising? The design has been around for over a decade. Tread design, materials and construction have all greatly improved over the years. There's a reason why they suck so badly, and why a tire that costs 50% less can outperform them in all areas. Just check out Bridgestone's own 960 A/S. Costs $50 less and in all areas it outperforms the RE92.

yes, we have a little snow in GA.. but not enough that it matters.

Maybe that person checks their tire pressure every couple of days as well and has a compressor at their home.. otherwise they'd be riding on flats after 2 weeks... not to mention going down the interstate on re92s is like being on rails.. very loud ones.

when your tires start looking flat every time you turn around.. and you're actually starting to have handling problems beacuse of air loss.. you start checking your tires a lot.

the re92s lost air like they had holes in them.. I've never seen such a thing before. damaging one of them by accident and then replacing them all was the best thing I ever did for my car... besides regular maintenance of course heh..

Umm, I kept my Re92s even with a 20G upgrade. It was fun cording them.

I drove within their limits, and they were low, but never had trouble. But, when asked my opinion of them and how they compared to other performance all seasons I've driven (re 960 A/S, contiextremes, those pirelli as ones that I thought were equal to RE92 in snow even with their summer tread design) that are all cheaper, the RE92s sucksucksuck.
