ShrinerMonkey
If you are spending a lot of money on large rims why would you care about mpg?
mwiener2
Should have ZERO impact on highway mpg....excpet for differences in tire material My Mods List (Updated 8/22/17) 2005 Outback FMT Running on Electrons
korpsepatrol
when i switched to spec b wheels i got a HUGE drop in mpg to be honest, still don't know why. Not so much in highway miles just street. 2008 6mt Legacy Gt Spec B DGM - Not so Stock/Work in progress 2006 5mt Legacy Gt OBP - Sold 2005 5eat Legacy Gt OBP - RIP R.I.P Coxx
mwiener2
city MPG will drop due to more rotational mass 1lb of rotational mass is equal to something like 5-10 lbs of overall mass My Mods List (Updated 8/22/17) 2005 Outback FMT Running on Electrons
SubLo
The correct answer is: if your overall tire diameter remains the same, there would be zero impact to MPG all other things being equal. Where the logic for a statement that limits noticeable changes to the highway only comes from I have no idea The reality is that there could be many variables such as (1) different tire sizes either chosen or due to manufacturer differences given the same numeric size (2) driving style changes due to increased/decreased euphoria over aesthetics (3) tire pressure (4) increased/decreased rolling resistance so on and so on. In most cases, the differences are nominal. ________________________________________________ '05 BSM OBXT Row-your-own, W.I.P. '06 Shrek B # 64 - The car the wife loved to hate :( Sold...

JonLGT
Unless you are changing tire sizes from stock, or weight MPG wont be affected.
JoeFromPA
I noticed a substantial increase in MPG for highway travel in the past in a very lightweight car when I tossed it's stock steel rims and weight to some lightweight alloys. Tire material, pressure, driving habits, and tire/wheel diameter have the most to do with it. Joe
VXCL
only time i noticed a difference was with 06 spec b wheels, but my stockers, 17 superturismos, and 18 ultraleggeras no real difference. the spec b wheels def weighed more so maybe that killed some gas around town.
