Penguin
Bourbons that I like: Knob Creek Bookers Maker's Mark Scotch: Lagavulin Glenifidich (at least 16 years old) Glenmorangie The Dalmore There are others, but given my druthers these are what I will enjoy. All small batch bourbons, or single malt Scotch. Blends suck, I can't stand Canadian whiskey like Crown Royal.

dudeondacouch
what's wrong with a capt & coke sometimes? For spiced rum, Sailor Jerry is the only way to go.
icy
1. Maker's Mark is phenomenal so much so I tend to drink it to easily, quickly. 2. Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey for the higher end. 3. Gentleman Jack is surprisingly smooth, hence the same problem. 4. Evan Williams Green Label=best of the worst. Tumbler 3 fingers, 2 cubes, mellow for 15 mins at room temp. ShrinerMonkey
A friend of mine just gave me a bottle of this for Xmas: http://www.suntory.com/yamazaki/main.html http://www.drinkhacker.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/suntory-yamazaki-12-year.jpg Nice and smooth, smokey with very little burning aftertaste. I can see why it is so highly regarded.

mrjk77
single malt >> blends my favorite single malt is cragganmore (one of the many single malts johnny walker uses to blend the not-so-great black label): http://beeractivist.files.wordpress.com/2007/05/cragganmore-12.gif for a gift, my friend got me a bottle of this (haven't had the occasion to crack this open yet): http://www.royalmilewhiskies.com/images/products/0010000019063_L.jpg just got me a bottle of macallan cask strength last night: http://www.greensbeverages.com/spirits/macallan12yr.jpg got some good 'ol kentucky bourbon too: http://images.businessweek.com/ss/06/10/makers_mark/image/14.jpg

km580
I like Wild Turkey (101) or Wild Turkey Rare Breed (barrel proof) also for a less expensive bourbon, Heaven Hill. Fat people are hard to kidnap!!!
