A Saturn! If they ever brought this baby over in unmolested condition.

Just saw this on autoblog: http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/17/officially-official-opel-insignia-revealed/

(I pray they don't tact on fender vents)

Anyone else see a car recently that they believe could replace their legacy?

2010+ Legacy turbo. Unless Subaru botches it, which I think is not beyond the realm of possibility.

other alternates:

Pontiac G8 GXP 6-speed

Used Caddillac CTS 6-speed

Used Jaguar XF Supercharged. -they'll be cheap right? :D

Infiniti G or M sedan.

Opel Insignia/Saturn Aura ver.2, if it has power, stick, and AWD together.

Anything else interesting, RWD/AWD, and with a manual trans, or automated manual trans.

What I posted on Autoblog, per the Insignia...

Not bad.

260hp V6, 6MT, and AWD all together, and a color other than gray...

Turbocharged Ecotec with the same driveline, as a redline/OPC/VXR variant could be even better, unless they have a 300+hp V6 on line.

Could be compelling, especially for a... gasp. SATURN!

If Subaru completely BOTCHES the 2010+ Legacy redesign, this could be pretty close to a replacement for my '05 Legacy GT, if it measures up.

The Aura isn't bad, but this sedan is better looking right off the pictures.

I would like a 911 (air cooled) for weekend fun and a 4 cyl toaster for during the week.

But I plan on driving my GRP for another 7 years or so (want to get 10 years total out of the car) and may just end up keeping it and turning it into a street legal track beater and buying something cheap (like $500-1000) as a daily driver/other track beater or who knows, but I doubt I will be getting another Subaru and I know for a fact that I won't be buying new.

Not a bad chop/rendering of a Saturn version of the above Opel Insignia.

But if any car needs a grille mod more than the 05+ Legacys, this one does.

The big bar in the grille is a bit much. If it were all black slats, it would probably be fine.

I wonder if the headlight projector are servo-switched dual beam projectors, or if there is a high beam reflector somewhere in that headlight assembly.

Have to say, I kinda prefer a 4-beam setup, rather than the compromises of a two beam switchable setup. Each light can do what it is supposed to do, rather than having to do double-duty.

I like the original Opel version much more than that Saturn chop (which is why I wished they would leave the styling the same). I wouldn't mind compromising with a 4cylinder/FWD/Manual base as long as its rated 30mpg+. (I don't have a turbo now so I don't feel "the need for speed") For the most part I just love the styling since it takes traits from many other cars and molds them nicely in my opinion. Ofcourse it all depends on pricing and how it actually looks in person.

The not so far off Future:

The hybrid aftermarket will be huge with everything from solar roof panels to lithium-ion battery packs. Legactygt.com will crash and only priuschat.com will exist. We'll post threads examining the correlation between improved fuel economy and increased pleasure in smelling our farts. Track meets will be a thing of the past. New "eco runs" will be organized, the goal: highest MPG!

Buy now! Quick, before the hybrid dystopia arrives!

I think the sad thing for you is that there are hybrid cars that give your LGT a run for its money in both speed and fuel economy.

 Its retardation like his that brings us to our fuel crisis today. Who the hell mentioned hybrids in this thread? Last I checked both of the cars I mentioned were N/A or Turboed with no Hybrid application. Not every fuel efficient vehicle is a "boring" hybrid.

I'll just assume that Karman wants a Hybrid as his next car since thats what he spent his post on.

My next car will likely be a large comfy Japanese luxo-sled, like an newish Infiniti M45 or a Lexus LS or GS.

That'd be about 5 years away though....

you guys hurt my feelings

^ After dealing with all this turbo banjo bolt and other Subaru b.s. a high-revving, well built, N/A would be a nice change. I'm thinking the E90 BMW M3.

Pontiac Solstice GXP Coupe, bar none, however I will not be selling my Legacy for a long time to come

meh kinda ugly

The sedan looks is kinda ugly but, the coupes sexy. If I had the money to replace the leggy it would have to be another 5-seater sedan. What do you think about the Audi RS4?
