Rt 2?

that road sucks for some glare when commuting like you do.

Indeed. With the glasses the glare doesn't bother me, it's the line of traffic that goes from 70->0 because some driver was surprised when they found out the sun is bright.

Rt.2 in MA is my least favorite road that I have routinely driven on. Driving home last night I hit a pothole that nearly destroyed a stock wheel/Dunlop M3. Didn't even see it coming... and the lens popped out of my glasses. A bad "good friday", but I probably deserve it for going to an Eddie Money concert (free) @ Mohegan Sun on Good Friday.

This is a legit thread. I'm a fan of the wayfarer style sunglasses so I bought a pair of matte black Oakley Frogskins with Fire Iridium lens' and a pair of the matte green Ray Ban wayfarers when I'm not trying to stick out. Oh and gireland, is there any chance you'd be willing to sell those Oakleys?

Replaced my RB3269s with a pair of RB8305s... full carbon fiber frame, black-green polarized lenses.

It might be the crappy monitor on this laptop, but I can't see the CF weave at all in this pic. In real life the CF on the frame and stems looks like you would expect.

been alternating between a pair of Costa Del Mar Switchfoot (polarized)

and Kaenon Arlo (polarized)

i've used a few pairs of Kaenons and a few pairs of Costa Del Mars and liked the clarity on them. A glass lens set of costas i had got stepped on in a backpack and one lens spidered, i need to see if i can get it replaced. also used smith and oakley and like all those as well. heard great things about maui jims, too.

they primarily have a niche market among "professional gamers" and that crowd, but unfortunately because of that some people think it's just a scam.

but the company specializes in computer and gaming eyewear, they now also offer sunglasses and 3D products as well. their signature lens is one that features a yellow tint with a robust anti-reflective coating. helps with glare and to some extent fatigue in certain individuals. the yellow tint helps to also improve contrast and shifts the incoming light/images closer toward the peak photopic sensitivity of the human eye (which is typically around a wavelength of 550nm IIRC, essentially in the yellow color spectrum)

the lenses come in plano (no prescription power) or if you are a glasses wearer, the prescription eyewear is manufactured by zeiss ophthalmic, so the lenses are very high quality. interesting concept, not for everyone. but there is some validity to the product. if your work environment involves being on the computer all day it's worth a look, if not even just a pair of prescription computer glasses with clear lenses can make a difference. for iv_05gt, i suspect they help him with glare and some aberrations at night time primarily due to the anti-reflective coating.

that post just sounds like a shameless plug for gunnar, haha but actually i'm an eye doctor and just wanted to clarify some confusion that surrounds that product often.

hard to say in this context. night time vision performance is based on a number of factors, some of which cannot be ameliorated with a pair of spectacles.

if you have some mild refractive error, sometimes glasses can help. do you currently wear glasses?

well, typically refractive error and aberrations are the most common sources for decreased night time vision performance but even a pair of spectacles can't do too much vs. incorrect projector angle or shitbirds stuffing ultra blue PIAA bulbs into reflector housings......

i've also had patients say "well i can't see the road unless i have my high beams on at night, so i drive with my high beams on all the time"

probably could make a rage comic out of that one.

I work for EMC and find myself in poorly lit data centers all night long, the blue and green LED's were wreaking havoc on my eyes causing a lot of strain + looking at a computer screen all the time. So i bought a pair to help with that which helped my eyes relax be less strained. So i had the pair and tried them driving at night. It improves the contrast and they have a slight magnification to them which helps as i should have glasses with a +50 mag (minimal).

I stumbled across them on a PC hardware forum and decided what the heck, and gave them a whirl. I was pleased as punch. :)

I've gone through so many pairs of sunglasses over the last 25 years that now I only buy the less expensive brands due to damage and loss. I have a pair in each vehicle and both golf bags. Plus a pair dedicated to running and an old pair of sunclouds for working in the yard. This is the latest pair I've purchased for Golf. I have a polarized pair for running by the same brand. Not bad for $55 bucks.

for the record, every pair of sunglasses i've purchased in recent times has been off http://www.steepandcheap.com or http://www.whiskeymilitia.com

for anyone who doesn't know these websites, they do one item at a time until it sells out or the time runs out and another item pops up. get like 40%-80% off stuff.
