tallguylehigh
This is kind of an off shoot to the "Loyal to Subaru" thread. It looks as though GM is going to be bringing its handsome Holden sportwagon over as a G8 wagon. V-8 horsepower, great looks, new chassis and improved interior. All I can say is 'wow' http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/zz_holden_sportwagon_official_09.jpg http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/zz_holden_sportwagon_official_14.jpg http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/zz_holden_sportwagon_official_03.jpg http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/19/report-pontiac-g8-will-spawn-wagon-sport-truck/ Automotive News is reporting what's been suspected all along: GM will bring a both a wagon and a Ute to the U.S. after the launch of the G8 next year. Citing three sources intimate with the project, the report goes on to say that the two models will be built in Australia and will be similar to the Commodore wagon, on which the Pontiac G8 is based, and the Holden VE Ute. wukindada
Me likie......... ALOT!!!!!! Prob is though.....they had better adjust the HP ratings as 365hp is not going to cut it anymore. Dodge will be bumping the 5.7 "hemi" in mid 08 so the magnum will have V8's of 370-380hp & the 6.1 bumped up to around 450hp. The G8 needs the 6.2 rated @ say......405/410 Toyota 6EATS .........SUCK!!!!!!

psucaptainkickass
I don't know about the Hemi's but this is tuned for 87 from the factory. I wonder how much power a tune for 93 would give it.
korpsepatrol
Walk away from the Avant;) Why you say this!? tallguylehigh
Well, this news, coupled with the fact that a fully optioned G8 will cost about $32.5k makes the G8 look more and more appealing every day.
tractorcrusher
That is badass... Then again, holdens always lose their aggressiveness when they finally make it over here.

tallguylehigh
The Magnum's were pretty cool cars but I think this Holden is far superior. Instead of using an old E-class chassis, it is a new $1 billion platform- I think it looks more handsome (very Audi-esque) and when it comes to the interior, there is no comparison Magnum (professional) http://z.about.com/d/cars/1/7/S/c/dc_08magnum_interior.jpg G8 (not professional) http://zeusville.files.wordpress.com/2007/03/holden-commodore-ss-03-interior.jpg

sgeorge
As long as Gm does not 'refresh' it's styling like they did the GTO, i would buy one.
Kelvrick
I'm guessing RWD? Wonder if it'll have an awd option and mpg ratings. If only mazda would bring the 08/09 mazda6 wagon refresh over here. My Outback
tallguylehigh
I'm guessing RWD? Wonder if it'll have an awd option and mpg ratings. If only mazda would bring the 08/09 mazda6 wagon refresh over here. They said the VE platform was designed to support an AWD system, so it is possible. But initially I think RWD will be the only choice.
SLegacy99
A good idea, yet stupid if you look at the Magnum which is going the way of the Do-do. The magnum wasnt offered in a MT and/or AWD. This prolly wont be offered in a MT and/or AWD and therefore the enthusiasts, who are now parents, will buy this wagon and that will be the end of it. tdoggydog
The magnum wasnt offered in a MT and/or AWD. Incorrect - the Magnum was in fact offered with AWD. I considered this vs. my Legacy, but the reliability was too low and reports said it "was no canyon carver".
BigBad
It would be good if they direct transport that car as is over here as is but knowing GM they will butcher it for the North American market.
