Audi pricing for its A5/S5 series:

Recommended Posts

Yeah, but European pricing is weird. Just watch an episode of Topgear. They always say oh, this STi is for a mere 23,000 pounds. Well thats a expensive Impreza if you ask me, but people do buy cars over there....and they somehow manage to fuel those cars.

True and they actually have to maintain their cars and have very strict things done at intervals to just be allowed to keep them on the road. It's big $$$$$ to have a car in europe.

i pay about 1000 dollars every two years for inspection/maintenance and 400 dollars every year for vehicle tax in japan

and i am not even gonna go into parking taxes and gas prices.

Can I just say that I love where Audi is going. I seriously wish I wasn't a poor 21 year old (I guess thats life though) cause this thing gives me heart throbs. Who needs women when you can have an A7 or an A5?

Latest Audi A7 Renderings Emerge

Fresh new renderings of the upcoming Audi A7 have come out. The 2+2 seater, four-door coupe, which will be ready for production in 2009, is already testing, hidden under thick plastic as a mule.

Several models, as per Audi model pyramid, will go under the name A7. The most obvious of them are V6 petrol and diesel offerings, ranging from a 3.2-litre 200kW/268 bhp up to a storming 5.0-litre bi-turbo V10 of some 426kW/570 bhp. A surprise package will be the 368kW/ 493 bhp V12 TDI, which is already testing in the R 8 and is being eyed for inclusion as the flagship engine for the Q7 SUV.

Both front-wheel-drive and Quattro will be on offer, the latter on a 60:40 rear-biased split for the extreme-performance models such as the RS 7. The car will share its underpinnings with the next A6, although it will slot in slightly higher than the five-seater, but below the A8, as WCF has repeatedly reported.

The A7 could make its debut at the New York International Auto Show from March 21 – 30, 2008. This makes sense since Audi, like everyone else, is gunning for the US market in a big way, and as our renderings clearly show, the low-slung roofline should be a hit among Americans. The most recent hit car, at the time, to offer such a roof design was the Chrysler 300C and to good effect.

that is just as bloated looking as the CLS...

Well, nothing is as bloated as the CLS.

But what is the fascination with arching belt lines, and sagging sill lines? it makes the car look overly thick in the middle.

Thanks, but no thanks.

Maybe something else will actually design a compelling shape in a sport sedan.

And nothing with four or five doors is a FRAKKING COUPE!

The A5 is a coupe. The TT is a coupe. The R8 is a coupe. I know coupes, and you sir, are no coupe!

Marketing lies. ALL LIES!!!!

And why does Audi feel the need to take up ALL the numbers now? BMW, too.

It used to be that BMW had the odd numbers, and Audi had the even numbers, with an A in front.

now they have freakin' Qs, S, RS, Rs before and after, and in the middle...

The Q is talking to me, the Q is talking to me! Be sure to get your whole head in front of the shotgun, thank you for calling!

Like Denis Leary, I never thought I would have to get upset about this stuff! Did I miss a freakin' meeting about the coupes, and the numbers?

The S5 is absolutely GORGEOUS!

I got to drive one around California Speedway, doing two laps at an Audi driving event. It handles really well for a big coupe. Could use more power, but it's still plenty seeing as its the motor used in the S4. After driving it, I seriously could not stop thinking about getting one. That was a pipe dream for sure...

^ sorry but you are technically wrong. Coupe or sedan is defined by a post. You are talking about the difference between 2dr and 4dr and the newest 4drs wanting that 2dr look (CLS A7). As far as the designations, the A3 has been in Europe for years, they've also had S4's since 92, and RS models since 01 ish.

I'm going for A5 training in late feb, but I've already test drvien a couple S5's. I definately like the S5 and if they decide to make a RS5 it owuld be even better.

Actually, Coupé is a french word for cut down.

It referred to small "cut down" carriages that only had two doors, and usually didn't hold much more than two people, maybe a third as an outside front driving position.

But it was defined by being a two-door carriage, and was extrapolated to describe two door hard roof cars, as the automotive industry took over from horse-drawn carriages.

Calling something a four door coupe, is like calling something a four wheeled bicycle. Bicycle negates the descriptor, or the four wheels negate the ability to call it a bicycle. Coupe negates the four door descriptor, or the four doors negates the coupe descriptor of that car.

We had the head of AOA at my dealership last week and the owner just laid into him about how messed up they have things. He also said the reason why Audi isn't importing a lot of the S5's is because of a shortage of 4.2 FSI's and they loose $2000 on every S5 sold in the US.

I know these are garbage pics, but we got our first A5 in. It stickers for about $48,3xx with some options. Its sitting up high cause the suspension blocks are still installed due to it being just unloaded from the truck.
