Vimy101
^ +1 How are we to expect OEM product support if people just steal their work? I'd like to see a 4.0 some time soon but we won't if there is no money in it for Kenwood.

I'm not justifying stealing but the 2.0 discs were a joke. I really hope this new discs are much better.
tdoggydog
I just wrote Kenwood to find out 2 things: 1) If there is in fact a version 3 of our nav discs, and 2) they had a "portal" option on their website, basically add-ons to an existing nav system to incorporate such things as...Bluetooth! I'll post their response when I get it.

tdoggydog
This may seem a dumb question, but the DVD unit under the driver's seat - that's Kenwood too, right? Not just the screen and software?

kenzo
Nobody at Subaru or Kenwood is forcing users to buy an upgrade, so the only "robbery" is if someone steals a copy.

However, if SOA wasn't so dumb and wanted a bit more of a loyal following, they'd do something like offer 3 years worth of downloadable updates with every new NAVI equipped car. Just my 2 cents... ________________________________________________ '05 BSM OBXT Row-your-own, W.I.P. '06 Shrek B # 64 - The car the wife loved to hate :( Sold...

Just my 2 cents... One of the contributing factors to my purchasing the spec B model was that it had a manual trans mission and navigation. Had I known that the price for upgrading the navigation software would be so high I would have more seriously considered a GT model. As a matter of fact, our dealer told my wife and myself when we purchased our Tribeca that upgrades were closer to $60 in price. For the price of our software upgrade we could upgrade to the unit that is the focus of this thread, and update from garmins website whenever we wanted. Free upgrades woud be nice. CTATV
they would but they're not and when people spend 1000-2000 dollars on a molded bumper from japanparts 230 or whatever doesnt seem THAT bad for navigation update... but it all depends on opinion... my brother bought water maps for his Garmin a few years back and it was at least that much from what i recall
sickdrift
No, you're right: https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=8461. I guess my frustration is with how the updates were misrepresented by the dealership, but big suprise there, right?
