i don't see what people are griping about.

those people that just want a car will take it as is.

enthusiasts will just change and add parts as they see fit. this has not change from past years cars.

you'll get rims and tires

an accessport

swaybars

change the taillights

etc.

then you'll be happy.

same old, same old

just like all of you have been doing with the legacy

that white chop is teh sex, id totally rock one of those!

REALITY:

the sedan looks awful. the hatch isnt bad but the tail lights need baked and sprayed to body color, or black for that matter (or simply replaced with red lenses). as does the chrome grill (where applicable) and tail end treatments. the interior is nice. i REALLY wish they did not choose to put frames on the windows... and i really wish they were not so pricey. (realize MSRP is only a few grand less than the LGT, and with the Nav its just as much)

the mainstream looks i understand. its a business decision really. look at the tribeca for instance, the main complaint from the public was the looks (pre 2008). we said it looked unique but we are not the mainstream, and there are simply not enough purist/enthusiasts out there to maintain their sales quotas. subaru has to make money, i really think the new design may help.

I'm propably gonna trade my GT on an '08 WRX hatch...swap my mods right over. They look a lot more modern than the rest of Subaru's lineup.

I did... picked her up today! :icon_bigg

ha ha... it was way worth it. a couple of mods and this sucker will be nasty! I have planned:

Exterior:

HIDs (tried to install my Leggy HIDs but the bulbs are H11 on the Impreza D'oh!)

STI front Lip

JDM side blinker mirrors

Performance:

Accessport

Swaybars

Tires will come next summer. May decide on a new wheel as well.

Springs

Let the fun begin. It's definitely an attention grabber. An Audi A3 pulled up next to me and was totally gushing all over the car. His A3 looked so plain and dated next to the WRX. The sound system and Navi on this is awesome. Navi kills the one in the Legacy and Tribeca. I actually had to read the manual on all of the Audio settings! The Navi also plays movie DVDs and will also play audio/visuals from a video ipod or Xbox! I'm excited. Let the games begin!

When it comes time for me to get a new car next summer/fall this will be on my short list of cars.....but hopefully I can stretch the budget for a 335xi.

Unless you really need the AWD... get a regular 335i. AWD ruins the driving dynamics of a BMW. I come from a BMW family and live in portland. We've had xi's every now and then and they just don't drive as well as the RWD versions. If I was looking at a 335xi... the STI would be on my shortlist... I may be tempted into an STI after the first year.

Who makes the stereo in the new rex?

I think Clarion does the single and six disc changer... the Navi one is done by kenwood.

The 6 disc changer with the SRS WOW is amazing. 10 speakers and the SRS WOW really ups the ante.

The Navi system is really good but not as good as the 6 disc system. It has about a billion different modes and you can do your own equalizers... i feel bad for the Leggy and Tribeca owners. The runt of the lineup has better features than they do. Bluetooth was just announced for the Impreza as well. I will add that on at my first oil change.

Ok... I got the tint done today actually. When they pulled it around I was like "DAMN that's hot!" I went and parked it to take pictures.... and just as i finished putting tire shine on... my neighbor pulled up and right next to me...The other side of the car is pillar. d'oh! I will get pics soon. HIDs on the way as well. Can't wait to see what this puppy looks like with some HIDs.

The Incline assist is really cool. I was on a severely steep hill and was scared of over revving her in her vulnerable state. The car tells the VDC to lock the brakes until i've given her enough gas for forward momentum. The key also turns the headlights or DRLs on as well as the interior lighting just by inserting the key. You don't have to turn it at all to get the lighting to come on. still feeling her out... the NAV rocks. It actually places the target destination symbol on the correct side of the road. I can turn off the navi volume and know if i'm making a right or left turn into my destination off the road. More goodies to follow. Still gathering driving impressions
