The 1.79 60' was luck, as most of my others were high 1.8's and low 1.9's. The clutch seemed to grab better as the night went on. My first run had me thinking that I was going to be in the market for a new clutch. It slipped bad in first and most of the way through second, netting me a scorching 2.077 60'. I pulled back into the staging lanes and you could smell my clutch from 4-5 cars away. I still have the stench inside the car. My technique is to simply hold the car ~ 5,000 rpms and release the clutch very quickly in a smooth motion. I do not side-step or drop it. As I'm releasing the clutch I'm also feeding more throttle in.

^^ Nice, that VF52 is just a hair quicker than a lighter car 310whp HTA68 on the same dragstrip (13.07 @ 105.5 ). I know I'll be chastised for bringing in real world data. Ooops.

yea but i wouldnt take that too much into account. Thats a 2.0L so its not going to have as much tq as our cars with that turbo. Although thats what i dynoed 310hp/317tq

I found this classic Volvo, originally filmed with a Super-8 or something in the 70's so the video quality isn't the best:

Maybe we can get this thread going again. I am going to scan the last run I did a few months ago, I just cant believe that my stage 2 LGT would still make the top list.. this is what is sad. I know theres a lot of faster LGT's out there.

If my engine ever finally gets done I should easily be able to put my legacy in the 11s... Shooting for 400+ whp with my 5eat with an hta green, tial 44mm ext, and meth...

(And a tranny im hoping holds together for 1 run)

That WRX looks pretty good going down the 1/4 mile.. I love the background entertainment, "we salute you mr SUV super stretch limo maker" ha ha, thats hilarious.

I have no idea how to put pics up in the threads, I am going to try and put my time slip on here from my last run

I am trying to put a pic in here for the first time ever.. lol, I have no idea if its going to work and it said I need to put atleast one letter in here.. idk

Ok, so this wasnt exactly how I wanted it, but it is in here as an attachment for people to see. This is the only dragracing I have done in the last 3 years, this was the last run I have done from this past summer. This 13.30 at 101 mph is right around my best time. I think the best run I have ever had was a 13.29.

In the above pics... all you guys with ice bags on your TMICs..... Take the ice OUT of the bag.

If you really wanna to it right, freeze some larger blocks at home the night before and set the bare blocks right on the IC. The physical act of melting the ice is what absorbs the most heat. Also, the melting water running through the IC cools it all the way through. A bag of ice only cools the top of the IC and by the time you're staging, it's warm again.

It should be done dripping by the time you stage. If anyone says anything, complain about all the RWD guys driving through the water pit with their front wheels.... they don't dry off during a burnout.

Actually take the ice and put it in your cooler and run your car like and actual car

or just install a proper meth kit and quit looking like you ran out of money with a block of ice on your TMIC.

Or just use a fan, thats what I do when I need to.

Meth kit is the way to go though, and its only like a few hundred dollars. Then you can get it tuned and be running supa fast yo! ok, maybe not THAT fast, but faster.

But there are much better, safer ways to do it. You cannot argue that meth is not a hassle. It's an entire extra system that needs maintaining.

Nitrous is easier and nets more than 50hp... does that make it a good choice?

I'm not saying meth doesn't net gains. I'm saying it's not worth the hassle for the majority of people that choose that route. I see it in my shop all the time.

No question about that - stopping every few minutes to sit with waiting for the bag full of ice you dumped on top of your engine to melt sees a lot easier and a whole lot more practical.

BTW, if you dripped any water at the starting line where I usually go you would definitely not have a nice day at the track.
