MiniStiGuy
what he said. Think of it as a funnel for oil. An enclosed funnel is going to allow the oil to move better out the other end because it is controlled. If you have openings in the funnel its going to interupt the path of the oil causing it to poorly exit the other end. BMac1203
the reasoning to using fully enclosed housings is for better light output and color... Makes sense I guess. Im assuming that I would still use my shield? The problem is, the AFS front projector piece (front bowl?) has somewhat of a built-in shield. The front piece has only a very small metal piece screwed in as some sort of a cutoff. Im unsure as if the front piece would properly function with our shield shoved in there (as it may be impossible to "replace" the AFS shield) I will take pics so you may see as well. Honestly, if these things can be brighter and more colorful, Im going to blind everyone on the road....as it will look like the Sun is coming towards them, with rainbows around its edges Im 10x more impressed with this setup already, than an Xtec kit that I had in my previous Mazda3 hatch. These things are bright! Need a CarPC bezel? PM me!

CarbonCrew
As promised. The biggest pain in the ass was the damn wiring. But that could be because I'm super anal and don't like anything too look like it wasn't originally on the vehicle. But man am I impressed. This setup completely blows my up TSX retrofit out of the water. The RX330's are a really nice projector. Anyhow here's the setup: RX330 Non-AFS w/ Celica super clear lenses and color modded. al-gorithm
^Did the celica lenses just drop in or did you need to make a gasket of some kind? Where did you get the lenses?
MiniStiGuy
celica lens is a 2.5 lens so it should just drop on it. Looks good... I'm going to be taking mine apart again and fooling around with it.. I'd like it to be a bit more sharp and I never got a chance to see what it looked like with the legacy lens holder because mine broke so I'm using the Rx's but yours looks to be much more colorful and sharper then mine currently is so I need to mess with some spacing and maybe by some miracle get the legacy holder fixed... Looks good. OEM HID's Rx330 Retro

MiniStiGuy
well yes not all 2.5's will drop it for instance the lipped lenses... but most will. For me they all do because I "MAKE" them work. OEM HID's Rx330 Retro
CarbonCrew
The lenses just dropped right in. I think they might have been a little more tight then the stock lenses though. I got them from a junkyard. I went and got their crappiest, broken headlight and they thought I was nuts. One lenses actually had some of the lip broken, I guess the accident was that severe?, but it had just enough lip left to be held by those 3 snaps. Thank goodness, because they make a HUGE difference!

B4LGT22
I am doing the retro right now but i received the RX8 lenses with my RX330 bowl and lenses holder. How does the RX8 lenses compare with using the LGT lenses?
CarbonCrew
RX8 lenses should be similar to the LGT lenses, with a light frost on them. Not exactly clear. I had a thought today that I think some of you should keep in mind. When you do the color mod, be sure to add 2 more washers to each side of the top shield/bracket attachment. If you choose not to do this or too dumb to figure it out when you do the retro (like me), when you go to re-aim your headlights you will end up with your high beams pointed in the ground. I really don't want to take mine apart, but it's already bugging the shit out of me
MiniStiGuy
you did something wrong carbon.... your high beams shouldn't be changed at all. The washer's you put on are in the wrong place then. I'll find a picture or draw up where you put it all tomorrow.. OEM HID's Rx330 Retro
