S4
no one got PDE up??? great price and suppose to have great filtment tolerance. Per pltech.net, "The only up-pipe offered with bracket to reinstall the lower stock heat shield". Hmm, I don't seem to remember needing any sort of bracket to reinstall the lower stock heat shield. Maybe the WRX is different? Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about?
graff48
Anyone do a custom exhaust with a muffler that was center inlet and center outlet instead of having offset inlet? how was the fit? any recommendations when trying to install these center through mufflers? I've got magnaflow mufflers with Crucial UP/DP. A muffler shop installed the mufflers (center in, center out) with custom piping after the Y. Kept the stock resonator in tact. With the mufflers alone it sounded deep, but not too loud (10% louder than stock). Since I added the UP/DP, it's awesome. Freaking awesome. d3v3u5
stock up/down; AVO center/y-pipe; Prodrive mufflers Question: will upgrading the up and down pipes significantly increase noise level? Yes it will, since you will be freeing up more air coming through. The downpipe will do more for sound than the uppipe will though. But more importantly is that you will take away the cats and gain more power. -mark

Boostjunkie
Well, you might need to call BMW and tell them to upgrade the tips on the old M5 then http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y207/Pisadong/e39_m5_03.jpg
LittleBlueGT
Well, you might need to call BMW and tell them to upgrade the tips on the old M5 then http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y207/Pisadong/e39_m5_03.jpg First off, let me say this sounds like one of the best exhaust bargains around. For some reason the M5's exhaust looks much much better then the pics I have seen in this thread. It is not just me, others feel that way to. I cannot pinpoint it, but it is not quite right. Maybe somebody else will take more flattering pics of it. Full tune of 68HTA, KSTech 73 MAF, Racer X FMIC and ID1000s................by the DataLog Mafia!!! Boostjunkie
I think part of it is that the M5 has black mufflers, which draws your eye to the tips, making them stand out more. Someone photoshopped the MR mufflers and y-pipe black in my old thread and that made it look almost exactly like the M5. Here: http://www.jeremykeith.com/images/mrblack.jpg That pic was with the previous version mufflers. The lastest revision sit a little bit higher. We are not going to offer the mufflers in black, but since that look is a can of spray paint away, that will give people the option of either leaving it polished or painting if they so desire.
