BDII
Tourgue steer, no LSD, and its an american car. No competition what so ever. Its gonna be just like the G6 GTO, tons of horse power, no speed. Need forum help? Private Message legGTLT
PhilT
What is it with this huge headlight look, first the Fusion and now this, looks ugly as sin. What happened to the sleek, menacing look ? Interesting to note how they are targeting the Acura TL as it's main competition, boy are they over confident or what, it's still a saturn after all Double Award Winning Legacy GT Wagon
jj808
Those seat dont look to dang comfortable. It looks like bench seating from the 70s and 80s.
SC GT
It's a step in the right direction for GM (interior-wise, at least), but if they think that car is competition for the Acura TL, they are all high. At best, that car will compete with Accord/Camry/everyotherflagship4doorsedan . . . and lose.
gfxdave99
Hmm again shooting themselves in the foot with the performance sedan crowd by only offering the manual with the 4cyl, similar to the new lexus IS250, and the ford fusion. (in that only the base model with the lower power engine gets MT) If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough. - Mario Andretti

Jedi Pimp
Those rims suck. It looks like they are straight off a Chrysler Sebring. The concept Aura was much more meaty then this production version.
IwannaSportSedan
http://us.tnpv.net/2006/GMC200604/GMC2006041077291_PV.jpghttp://us.tnpv.net/2006/GMC200604/GMC2006041077313_PV.jpghttp://us.tnpv.net/2006/GMC200604/GMC2006041077172_PV.jpg Perhaps a step in the right direction. Still not a Legacy beater, though. As has been said, FWD, Torque steer, Automatic. (stupid american companys don't even offer a clutched transmission with the powerful engines... and wonder why people complain and whine that they don't compete with japan and europe...) Aesthetically, it isn't GMs worst. Impala is blander. G6 is gimmicky-er, and cheaper looking. Cobalt is just plain cheap, and Lucerne is a bit too "mature". The headlights and front end are not the most aggressive, granted, and Legacy's hawk's eye headlights are much more dramatic. The back end leaves something to be desired. The arch over the door (from a-pillar to c-pillar) is too thick and visually heavy, and the whole car looks "bland-ified" like most production cars are. I am not impressed with the interior. the wood looks fakey, and the saddle leather looks a little too rustic for a sport sedan. The console and the interior are bland, although the gauge panel and Saturn's new steering wheel is decent. The Sky redline looks interesting, and a lot of nice touches. I saw a sky roadster the other day, and it was actually bigger and chunkier than I thought, and the yellow paint wasn't the most flattering, but I really do like the lines. I have liked them since the original VX Lightning concept car. MUCH better than the solstice, and the NC miata. The Miata might have other advantages under the skin, though, especially the upward-facing folding top, full trunk access with the top down, and perhaps a bit of a quality advantage. I may take a spin through the Saturn dealer to see one of these new Auras, but I don't see a FWD car pulling me from my impending Legacy. I do think I am being open minded about the competition, but my conviction for picking Legacy GT over the competition still stands.
mkaresh
Looks a bit much like the Dodge Stratus from the side. A new six-speed automatic will greatly improve acceleration vs. the G6. DOHC V6 also much more refined than 3.5 in G6. But I doubt it'll be competitive with the TL and LGT. The handling of the G6 is way off the mark. That of the 9-3 isn't bad, but I'm guessing this'll handle more like the G6. My review of the G6 GTP: http://www.epinions.com/content_195895725700 Large headlamps are a way to get excellent lighting without xenon. Not that this excuses putting the turn signal on top of the regular light to make the unit even larger.
Hanger
I would consider this...coming in a turbo version in the fall of 06 It looks very good in fact...but still it's an American car...i'd rather get a mazda Miata ○ ○ ○ Instagram: itshangertime :spin: ○ ○ ○
mkaresh
With all your reviews you are posting in every thread, this is turning into an infomercial... I include the most relevant points in the post. I assume that's all most people are interested in. But if someone wants my complete evaluation of the car, it's already available in the review. It certainly wouldn't make sense to post my full evaluation.
mkaresh
The comparable Opel is the Vectra; the Astra is a Cobalt-sized car. The Aura isn't identical to any Vectra. The Vectra sedan, like the Malibu sedan and Saab 9-3, uses the short wheelbase version of the platform. A Vectra wagon uses the long wheelbase version shared by the G6, Malibu Maxx, and Aura. The wagon appears to have a huge amount of cargo room as a result. I'd like to see it here. Compare the 3/4 view of the G6 and Aura. They appear to use the same trunk lids and their tail lights are the same shape. The Aura appears to share far more with the G6 than any other Epsilon. THe sheetmetal is different, but I suspect that all of the underbody structure is nearly identical.
mkaresh
I thought they might share some panels myself, but studying the photos even this doesn't appear to be true. Notice the extra crease at the top of the Vectra's front fender and the extra creases at the bottom of the Aura's doors. The headlight might be the same aside from the turn signal lens. Opel sells the Signum hatch on the long wheelbase. They also sell a Vectra hatch, but I'm not sure which wheelbase it uses. Probably the short one. wukindada
It's still a Saturn.... You would still have to deal with the abortion they call a dealership network. Long story short.... I went with my sister in law to help her with a auto purchase. She really wanted & liked the Saturn Redline. unobtainium
The Opel Astra is a nice, comfortable, solid-feeling car; if I did not need AWD it would be on my short list. Especially if they bring in the 1.9l diesel.
