Maybe its an 05 and they just have a typo...? I thought you might be interested if your really trying to find a MT5 wagon. The dealership is in Bellevue WA.

I'm not familiar enough with the control-arm suspension bits that were replaced to say, but perhaps there's less unsprung weight at each corner with the lighter STI bits. That form of weight savings provides non-linear performance benefits. Maybe that's where the extra 0.1 or 0.2 sec came from for 0-60.

I almost feel sorry for Mazda. That car got such a crap writeup. I can understand a manufacturer submitting a wringer, but to do the opposite and submit a hog that has these "heat-related" issues at 85F or whatever is pretty bad. The MS6 has been a general disappointment though...

One reason why this article is so great is that it really highlights the chassis, suspension and drivetrain tuning. They described how the relatively forgiving suspension was coupled with the "primitive" diff system(read: no electronic control) and tuned to make a rotatable, driftable, but forgiving car. The synergy in the LGT is beautiful when it comes to powering sideways through corners, and the mag caught that. It reminds me of the WRX, with the much complained about "wheel gaps" actually paying huge handling dividends in the form of wheel travel. In this case, it's the first time I've heard body roll, squat and dive referred to in a positive light.

This is like some Pai Mei engineering, turning weaknesses into strengths.

I still can't believe it won the autocross....

Great article... I love my car.
