Accessport vs Tactrix

Recommended Posts

Imagine if you take ecuflash, romraider, and learning view, dumbed it all down, removed all the complicated stuff, and then shoved it in a little box smaller than a smartphone. Its like big brother is holding your hand, "make sure to disconnect those green cables"! "Turn the car off for 15 seconds".. it walks you through everything. Very nice software. Edited by Tehnation

So did you marry the accessport to your car and flash a tune to it already? Was a tuner able to get you a basemap for your AP?

Hmm I wonder if torque pro can do it!? If not I may have to buy a cheap one, found this guy. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MR7FZS1?tag=aq-best-airbag-scan-tools-20 , 80 bucks was the cheapest I could find that read srs/abs etc. Anyone know any other products?

Actually, looks like this device doesn't do srs/abs on subarus.

-Edit

This guy does do abs and srs for subarus.

Most of the auto parts stores I go to only have regular code readers.

Thanks, that is what I thought, but figured someone may know the answer.

I will ask around, can't hurt. A lot of times I see them just using whatever they sell. So they may or may not open up a better reader, who knows.

But I just found this guy.

https://www.amazon.com/FIXD-Professional-Bluetooth-Reader-Android/dp/B013RIQMEO

60 bucks for some bluetooth scanner, that scans everything apparently. Good thing about amazon is they pretty much take all returns, so I may order it and if it doesn't work just send it back.

update: This guy looks like a dud as well

I really don't want to spend 150 bucks....the launch seems like the one to get.

Ordered this guy for 80 bucks, according to their website coverage checker, it does work. If not I'll just return it.

Free one day shipping so I will let you guys know if this works tomorrow.

Tuner knocked out my base map in 2 tunes.... 1st one was good, just needed a little adjustment to get it to find idle again. Just took it out for a spin, car drives good. The ap must make things much easier for the tuner as well. I had other people baffled trying to tune on opensource, they all thought there was a mechanical problem. I guess them saying that the cobb is better for the stage 3 stuff makes sense.

Chassis codes can be read from the dash display on the 05. I posted the instructions long ago. It has been so long, I dont recall if airbag codes were displayed, but probably not.

In general it takes a good reader to pull airbag codes. Manufactures get very nervous when anyone touches the airbag system. Lots of legalities involved with the safety system.

I got the reader, it can read the srs codes, but doesn't look like it can clear them, so back to amazon it goes. I got 6 codes. It must be from when I removed the dash and seats, system probably had power.

Could very well be. My $5k+ SnapOn scanner could read and reset the airbag codes. It takes that caliber of scanner. Most cars have stored codes from work being done "hot". I had a bad habit of pulling steering wheels with the power connected. It was faster to reset the codes than pull out memory saver and disconnect the battery.

i definitely worked on it while the battery was connected, I started the car without the seats while sitting on a bucket. Memory saver? I can reset the srs without a fancy scanner or dealer? Edited by Tehnation

No. Sorry. Memory saver is a device used to save the settings in the radio, and ecm while disconnecting the battery. Lets you work on 95% of the car powered down (like airbags) without losing what customers would complain about.

If you brought a mechanic a 6 pack after work I can almost guarentee the codes will be reset and you might learn a few tips too.

Is there a certain process for resetting the srs code? My reader had a reset function, it just didn't seem to work. I had 6 codes, I couldn't see all 6 coming back at once after reset. So I assumed the reader just couldn't do it.

I ordered the launch crp123, apparently most of them are fake, I contacted Launch over in the UK. I probably got a fake one as well, we will see. At this point, i'm going to keep going up the line until I hit one that works. There's gotta be something reasonably priced that can do it. If the bootleg launch doesn't work, then I will try the icarsoft line.

That probably explains why mine does about 10% of what it claims it can do. Does yours feel super light and cheap when you hold it?
