The Cell Phone Thread - So FJuan Stops Complaining

The new iPhone 7 has no 3.5mm jack, you're forced to use Apples adapters if you want to do anything as the only port is the lightening port.

Androids still have the 3.5mm jack......... for now.

Seriously... "innovative"

I'm pretty sure people use that same solution to keep eye glasses on their heads

"Meet the Courage Model 1, a strap made of 85 percent leather, 10 percent rubber, 5 percent metal, and 100 percent innovation. "

Gonna be "that guy" here....

Samsung has wireless earbuds, the gear icon x. They have different sized "wing tips" and "bud tips" kind of like my jaybird bluebuds. Lets you get a comfy/snug/secure fit, so they stay in during exercise.

You can also sync music to the buds themselves, so you don't even need to take your phone with you while running/working out.

The apple design looks so silly. Like, what happens when you turn your head? Looks like those stems would just bump against your face and pop out.

Also, with the Apples, the only way to change/pause songs is to use your phone or say "hey siri....". The samsung buds have a capacitive sensor, so you can do that stuff with touch commands.

So let me get this straight: the battery failed on your iPhone, yet somehow that's better than all your Android phones with hardware failure?

BTW, I have never once had any of my four Android phones repaired due to hardware failure. (I replaced the screen on my G3 three times, but that was my own damn fault...)

The Battery never failed on my iPhone, it was a 2 year old phone and battery and from constant daily use and charging it's lifespan went down drastically, like every other phone battery does.

When I had my Galaxy S3 it had the same exact problem, when I had my original Galaxy S I had to buy a new battery for it all together because it developed a bulge and wouldn't charge at all.

I owned the G1, a Galaxy S and a Galaxy S3 from 2009-2013 and here's my list of problems from each:

-2009 G1 would overheat and stop working

-2009 my replacement G1 when I would slide up the screen it would be all digitalized and not display anything. Got rid of it for a Blackberry Curve.

-2011 Galaxy S replaced after 4 months after burning 2 sim cards & overheating

-2012 Galaxy S3 replaced after one month of ownership screen display stopped working

-2013 2nd Galaxy S3 replaced after it would no longer charge & overheat

-2013 3rd Galaxy S3 again began overheating and battery life would lost 2-3 hours. Replaced it with iPhone 5S upon release September 2013.

Now my problems with my iPhone:

-None   Upgraded to a 64GB iPhone 6 in September 2015 after 2 years of no problems with my phone other than a short battery life on what's expected of a lithium ion battery + memory on iPhone 5S was near capacity. Other than the Battery the Iphone worked as normal + a lot more better tech support as there isn't 9875234623652 different platforms available for iphone.

Sure Android is cool if you are techy and like customizing everything you own, but I have a life and want my phone to be the least of my worries. I use it to text, call, instagram, fantasy football and occasionally browse the web. I don't need to route or customize my phone to do that. I also don't need a phone with a large ass screen, I watch porn and movies on my 70" screen tv like a normal person.

Squirt squirt squirt, I have a Galaxy S5 for over a year now. Flawless and does everything I want it to do. I'm tempted to switch to the S7, but I'll wait since my S5 is still working great.

Don't fix what's not broke.

My wife's balls are delicious.

You are having much better luck with your S5. Mine is slow and laggy, the 16gb of memory is always full (even moving everything I can over to an SD card), I had to replace the battery once because the OEM one stopped holding a charge, texting basically doesn't work (so much lag), Hangouts is fine though.

Waiting for Nexus/Pixel.

Porn on a phone, awwwwwww hell no! That's why laptops where invented. If I wanted to watch porn on my phone, I would have to pull out my readers to view it.

My wife's S3 failed after 2 years. Charging port broke and it was soldered to the motherboard. But hey, she got 2 years out of it, and she was up for an upgrade at that point anyway.

I wouldn't buy another Samsung phone no matter what. They always seem to find a way to F up Android. I had an Epic 4G (Sprint Galaxy S) and a Note 2, and after about a year with each of them, I hated them. My LGs have been pretty good overall (as long as I don't leave the camera open, and disable the Verizon crapware -- otherwise the battery drains super fast).

Stop downloading porn, that shit will clog up your memory fast. But really, I've leaned the more apps you download, the more your phone will lag due to updates and conflicting software. In the Play Store you can download an app that will tell you which apps are conflicting with your phone and causing a drain on you memory and battery.

shit

shit

black color change makes it hard to read with the dark theme.

as for cell phones, i am the IT guy aat my office. im also the one that tests the new phones when we get them. i also set up all the email and access for pretty much everyone here. small company, i have a lot of hats.

that said, ive gone deep down the phone mod rabbit hole. i use a nexus 6 and have it bone stock, no root or changes. that hasnt always been the case, this very phone used to be modded to death. truth is, any of the new modern cell phones for the past 3 years work out of the box for 96% of the world without any customization or modding. iphone is not the only one that "just works!" anymore.

snap, never even thought of that. the coffee shop i go to uses iphones with the square module plugged into it. i guess they will have to move away from apple when they go forward.

I hate when fixed location businesses use the square module. Square is awesome for things like vendors at farmers markets, handymen who do work at people's houses, taxi drivers, and so on. You know...people who don't have a place for a fixed cash register.

Maybe this will be what they need to finally get a real payment terminal. See? Apple's courage is moving the world forward!!!
