Mounted on the carbon fiber trim, using Go Pro 3M VHB Tape and the original holder.... I have tried lots and lots and lots of different double sided tape variants and so far this is the most successful one.

It's been on there for almost 8 months now lol.

Not at all. I have mine coming out the driver's side at the moment so I can plop the AP in the cubby in front of the shifter, you can run the cable across the top of the kick panel and duck inside the center console when you get to it. Pull the lid off the console (peel back the rubber in the cubby and pull up inside the slot that opens up, remove the shift knob, disconnect the seat heater switches), route the wire around the shifter box, and push it out the bottom of the side of the console wherever you see fit.

I used this for my phone on my previous car and liked it a lot. Very solid and a clean look. I need to get this for my Legacy to mount my phone on again.

As far as my AP, I just use the windshield suction in the bottom left corner. It tucks in that corner nicely and the cable it routed easily down to the OBDII port. It stays out of my direct line of sight, but I can keep and eye on it easily.

Finally got around to installing the new mount clip thing. Hard work, moving it from the cupholder to the vent, but I got it done. Added the corner cable tuck, thanks to jkenefake for the inspiration there.

Not really a good solution for folks with a vent gauge pod or other gauges in that vicinity (so probably worthless for you, GTEASER...), but unless/until I go that route, it works for me.

The problem most of us face using the AP is the hassle to store it properly when parked. While I drive a 4th gen, the 5th gen interiors are somewhat similar from what I'm seeing in photos.

I use the typical vent holder with the ball joint. I feed the cable through the center console and out by the passengers feet.

The area to the left of the glove box has the perfect amount of width to fit the AP cable without kinking it.

I loosely screwed a plastic cable holder into the underside of the glove box. It is not visible at all and allows for a seamless transition to/from the glove box when parking. While in use the cable is outside the "groove" and hanging from footwell to the mount. For storage, the AP and cable are entirely contained in the glovebox.

Two shots under the glove box show one opened and one closed to show that it does not bend or pinch the cord at all.

Maybe your design is similar enough to accomplish the same???

This is what I ended up going with. I absolutely love the placement.

Installed a Scosche (MAGMD) MagicMount Original for my Cobb AP V3

Seems to hold it really well with a fairly strong magnet. Still have to route the cord, but at least it covers up that damn stupid useless Fuel Economy gauge.

I use this to mount my phone when driving. It's stuck to the square in between the seat heater switches and the mount does not come lose actually it's probably gonna take an act of God if not replacing the plastic "tray" to remove if I ever do, but we'll worth the $14. They have a ton of different styles even ones for your vents. Also once you put the steel plate on your device and let it set for 24-48 hours it's pretty much there forever, whatever 3M adhesive they are using is insane. However it is magnetic so I don't know if that would interfere with the AP any but it doesn't affect my S5 at all.

Reviving since you finally got an AP mount GTeaser, which just happens to be the exact one I suggested [emoji6]. I've had mine for a year now and it's still going strong. You should have no problems with it and you can always use it for other stuff too since it comes with extra backing plates. I will say it's one of the best vehicle accessories I've ever owned. If I ever get an AP I'm considering the "cigarette lighter" mount they make with the USB power port.
