How's the clutch? I need to start researching a clutch/turbo combo that I can live with. I get bumper to bumper freeway traffic at least 5 times a week. I need something I can do one car at a time stop and go without my leg cramping, lol.
Hah, when we put the clutch in I was a bit worried because I was dealing with some inflammation around the sesamoid bone in my left foot. Lots of pain and stiffness in the ball of that foot on the inner side when my toes were pressed up or pressure was put on that general area. I was acutely aware of the additional pedal stiffness until that healed up  Got used to it pretty quick, don't even notice it now.

Good, they still ride smooth and comfortable. Covers are doing a good job of keeping a lot of the crap off them. I'm finally moving into a new shop this weekend, so I'll be able to remove the covers and do a thorough cleaning more often.

I went to Topshelf Performance & Fabrication in Portage for a set of 225/55r17 Blizzak WS80s and mocked up the HKS ES Premium axle back. My mid/y pipe is a bit long with the GS DP->CBE adapter, so the HKS axle back tips sit right where I want them despite being legacy sedan fitment. A little hanger modification, a quick adjustment of the driver's side Y pipe flange to put it where it's supposed to be, and on it'll go. Very excited to get those on there, was expecting them to require more work.

Should have the EWG on in a few days too, excited to have Cryotune work his magic finishing up the tune later on. The Tial MVS showed up today, but UPS is holding the uppipe and dump tube hostage for the weekend.

We've got similar road conditions here in MN. Overall, is the ride pretty bearable? I'm on the fence about coilovers vs Koni/Swifts. Seems like people either love coilovers, or absolutely hate them. I want to go a little lower, but also like the idea of being able raise the vehicle is the elements warrant it.

The ride quality has convinced a few locals to ditch their BC coils for ISCs. I don't think ISC has an outback version with longer bodies... so you're stuck with a maximum of a little lower than LGT height.

Hauled four wagon loads of stuff into my new shop. I've missed having this kind of cargo space.

Swapped out the red FMIC pipes for some brushed silver ones to match the KStech intake.

Painted the grille black, ordered L7 badge overlays.

EWG stuff is all here, so Ian and I will probably throw that on sometime this week.

Nice. If there is ever a Madison area meet, I'd love to check it out in person.

Is the ride with the ISC's that much better than the BC's? I've been eyeing the BC's as I don't want to lower my car to LGT levels but 1-1.5" would be great. The BC's appeal to me because you can get the extra length and get close to stock height if wanted.

BTW, I did see a dropped black 3rd gen OB going around the north end of Rock Lake in Lake Mills last week. I couldn't get a good view but it looked fairly murdered and low. A local I suppose?

EWG is on, HKS axle back is on. Bought TGV deletes, top feed rails, DW 300C pump, ID1000 injectors. Those will sit on a shelf for a while

There's the Madison Subaru Club on facebook for general subaru shenanigans. MSC has a big yearly meet formerly known as the Madison Subaru Meet, now FL4TFEST. Judged car show, autox, TSD rally, and it supports local charities.

There is a smaller group that gets together for weekly, monthly, yearly meets. Weekly wing nights on thursdays, monthly-ish cruises up to Portage for Topshelf Taco Tuesday night, movie nights, shooting range meets, plenty of random get togethers at the shop, grill outs, and Subabrew at Wisconsin Brewing Co. It is an invite only thing to keep it to just the active folks who regularly come to meets and get along well with the rest of us... more like a big family than a car club. I'm one of the admins for both groups. Shoot me a message if you want to come out and meet the group one of these nights

The BCs will work better for you if you want to stay in between OB and Legacy height. They'll be plenty comfortable as long as you don't set them too stiff.

Probably saw Jessica or Josh driving Jessica's car, they're out in Lake Mills and have a lowered black OBXT with pink accents. Good looking car, was recently under the knife being rebuilt.

How did your fmic installation go?

FMIC was easy, just had to hack up the bumper skin to clear the core and slot out the mounting holes on the replacement bumper beam so they lined up with the mounts on the intercooler.

I'll get some photos if I wind up pulling the flares off at some point, for now a crude drawing will have to do

Spent quite a bit of time tracking down a boost leak... very frustrating. Fixed a leak at the cold side core coupler, then found a leaking weld, replaced that pipe, blew off the throttle body coupler testing at 22psi, fixed that, got it to hold 25psi and called it a day. :spin:

Next I tackled the TurboXS hybrid bov that was flutter dumping... as much as I like the stututu noise, I don't think journal bearing turbos enjoy it. With zero washers it wasn't opening properly, spring is too stiff. I didn't run into this issue with it installed on a TMIC, worked fine up until the FMIC went on. I opted to replace it with a GFB Respons, which was the hybrid valve I was originally looking at when I wound up getting the TXS one. After a quick adjustment, the GFB respons works perfectly and my turbo has ceased making turkey noises.

yeah, mine turned me down when one showed up for 3k in washington a few months back. :(

i even sold it to her as being more robust to powah and me needing to get a new clutch anyways that'd cost me darn near half the cost of the used tranny.

Couple stupid questions:

What did you use to cut the fender flare? Does an Exacto knife work or do I need a saw / dremel etc?

How far down did you cut the flare? Just on the fenders or down into the bumper (blue line)?

My tire is rubbing at this point only on the driver sides and I need to deal with it

^ That tire looks pretty chunky. I guess I've just gotten lucky with my setup as I *just barely* graze the sidewalls under full compression.

It's very chunky. Never had an issue with my DWS either. But started hitting that edge only on the driver side on hard bumps, even with .75" top hat spacers (which, are now removed).

I have banged on it and tried to push / pry it away with a crowbar and it's better. Hard hits I am still rubbing though.

I wanted to go to 245/45/18 right now I would be completely unable to run them. Need to make room.
