Just skip the rebuild and go straight for what you REALLY want from your favorite parts supplier, it's a bargain:

I've already got 2 Recaro seats backed against the Miata sale. I could use the rest of the sale to buy a dogbox.

but what the heck, at this point, money doesn't really matter any more. Looking on my favorite Subaru used parts site, I found all kinds of want to have parts:

new cam wheels:

magnesium intake:

Hewland dogbox:

solid steering section, so I can skip the hacky solution:

a new pedal setup in carbon fiber:

and new brakes, cause the brembos I bought are so last year:

I wish you had never shown me this webpage!

First post on 11/13/2014. :spin:

If it makes you happy, this drama started in fall of 2013 when infront auto left the mechanic rag in the cooling system which led to the hg failure. HG issue finally reached terminal in late May 2014. Nov 2014 I started this journey of self discovery.

Me thinks you're jealous?

It takes a lot of willpower to maintain this amount of drama for so long. Feel free to bow down and acknowledge my greatness.

I still can't believe they didn't pay for the rebuild / do it right for you.

Uh huh. Cause having them take another shot at it would be better? 90 day warranty. Just so much fail with them. Which really sucks because the original build was very good quality.

Everyone can **** up. It's how they make it right that matters.

Although, I don't remember all the details of your build beyond the shitty short block that needed a lot of work.

boxed up my turbo to send to jmp. He has parts in stock. Finally found a box that closely fit the turbo. Built a thin wood box inside the cardboard box, filled it will styrofoam and then wrapped it with packing tape. When the gorillas punt it off the truck, hopefully it will survive.

fujibond showed up Sunday, along with Ti Heat Wrap to re-wrap the headers.

Yep, I did all but the wood frame and it survived 2 way trip. I had bubble wrap and air bladders as well as 2 layers of cardboard cut for all 6 sides plus fragile labels. I had a layer of padding in between the inner and outer cardboard layers. 16.70 was the weight when I was all said and done. Box came back to me same way just about.

Top box was the 52 and I had to put a knee on it to get it to close.

more drama. :-)

So I ordered HGs, or so I thought. 1 part number = 1 HG. Sigh. Pricing seems odd, too. Online list price is 49.95 and the packing slip list is 63.54.

Where did you order the HGs from? That's the standard price for both.

My wife's balls are delicious.

unfortunately, this list of HG is not complete as pics are missing. http://parts.subaru.com/a/Subaru__/49223396__6023246/CYLINDER-HEAD-02MY-05MY/G11-006-01.html

so finding the gasket that best matches the frankenstein setup I have is a real pain.

found this link which explains a bit more about the gasket options: http://www.subaruforester.org/vbulletin/f66/head-gasket-design-changed-2010-n-models-69170/index4.html

and a contradicting opinion of matching the outfront closed deck block - http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1891411
