Everyone, which tires are you using?

Fixed.

OT: Drift Monkey, Dumb Monkey, also the same :p

Just for a future reference, you might want to narrow this thread/question down to Summer and winter tires or even race tires for that matter because some people can and will end up going through at least 3 sets of different tires on the car.. or people like me that just eat through them like cookies

I'd rather be a dumb monkey than a dumb queefe.

OT: At least queefs can drive ;)

Please keep this on subject, if you want to make a "Keefe's a queef" thread in the general chat, go ahead.

Some winter tires are really awesome for you NY folks.. too bad some of the Pirelli and Michelin UK tires are not sold here in the USA.

There are PLENTY of other JDM-street-legal tires like the Potenza RE55s that I would love to have.. of course they are illegal for the USA roads (probably because the NSHTA and DOT can't approve something that melts even faster than a r-compound). Remember that in Japan, any car that has 50,000 is like 350,000 miles to us (ie HIGH mileage). So their use on tires is a lot shorter, so they can afford a tire that can last just 2000 to 5000 miles.

RE55s shown:

(I might just have to import these)

DM and Keefe: you two need to take this out of your posts and be done with it. It's getting a little ridiculous....

Chut up.

More drama now please.

Guys....Sandwood was right. Take it somewhere else please.....you are ruining this thread.

Posting tires not available in the US is :offtopic: too

[understood. See my post #34 for keeping things on topic]

It is possible that these tires will get here, as the A048s and A032s finally worked their way here.. if there is a good showing of interest in these tires, it's very possible that these oversea tires can make it over here.. it's just something to expect. I managed to get a set of the A048s just as it was approved by DOT/NSHTA and this was before TR put them on their site for sale.

I am sure ApexJapan have these tires available to them since they are in Japan so they can add in their $0.02 on the matter for the tires that I posted about.

Hey Keefe- welcome to the donators group :dm:

Thanks, I felt bad after just realizing that the donation status I did a while back kicked in which did not. I know it's not easy to run a board out of Tide's own pockets.. so yea, I accidently demoted myself in the process

I was doing some research and it looks like that I will be ordering a new set of Neovas for the SSR Comps in 17" instead of the 245/45/17 Azenis RT-615s (I dont have a rim wide enough to accomodate that width). I love the 245/40/18 RT-615s this past weekend as I had a very easy win to get 3rd place in my class. The problem was finding the right tire pressures for the front right now... I'll be posting up pics later in another thread to show how they look and how stiff they are on a 18x8 wheel. Overall, it's every bit as good as everyone say they are..

For spring/summer/fall, am running 215/45x17 Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2. Pros: civilized performance tire, excellent performance on dry or wet pavement. Cons: expensive.

For winter, will be running the RE92 (or a real winter tire, if lots of snow and ice is predicted)

2000 Legacy GT still has stock Bridgestone Potenza at 65,000 km. Subaru service at 48k told tread was OK but uneven wear  will drive me nuts. My Legacy at 100 km/hr is louder than my dishwasher  . Can stand it anymore :( and 'am thinking of the Michelin "hyroedge" @ CND 173.00 per  . The rating is a 9.8 out of 10 total and for quite ride 10, tread wear 10, traction in ice 10, handling 10, winter tractio 8, rain 10 and has a 140,000 km rating. If that's true it will be my last set of tires. Any advise is appreciated. :D

I've also got the Exalto PE2s, 215/45/17 on 17x7.5 Rotas for three seasons. Probably try to live with the RE92s on the stock wheels for another winter.

Very pleased with the PE2s. Excellent street handling in dry & wet, and they did well at a track day. They are also very light. I saved 3#s per corner over the stock setup (2#s per wheel, 1# per tire).

They are a bit noisy, but that's of no concern to me. I get the set of four for $400 delivered (special 1-time deal), but I wouldn't pay the $160+/each for new ones. Other tires around $100 (like the ES100, which I have loved on another car) can perform as well IMHO.

I considered the Pilot XGT H4 rated at 8 out 10 but after going to the Michelin web site and doing a compare on specific tires the Hydroedge rated 9.8 of 10 is the best tire for my purposes. Hope I'm right as will be getting them before the snow falls. Will be running 205/55/16
