The 2+ was fine in traffic. I will say, never having a 2 before, wondering how long it will last is still in the back of my mind.

But at my power level, I should be fine for 100,000 or more miles. 300ftlbs.

If your having doubt's play it safe go 2+. The 2+ was still much easier then the the 440 GTX I drove once back in the mid 1970's.

305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD).  CHECK your oil, these cars use it.

I daily drive through traffic everyday and the 2+ doesn't bother me. The FX350 did because of chatter. My exedy stage 1 was a BITCH to drive in traffic it was heavy and chattered

I actually replaced my FX350 with the Exedy Stage 1 about 5,000 miles ago due to excessive chattering from the CM (had about 9,000 miles on it when I pulled it). I find the Exedy clutch to be absolutely fantastic, especially compared to the FX350. Yes, the clutch pedal is on the stiffer side, however, I got used to it very quickly. It's only after driving another car for a day or two that the pedal seems overly stiff until I get used to it again. I've found I actually prefer the heavy pedal, as it provides me better feedback and modulation for finding the grabbing point, especially when starting on a hill.

I have not had it chatter on me once in the 5,000 miles I've had it installed. The FX350 started chattering from about 2,000 miles and on, so I feel pretty safe in saying that the Exedy will be staying in the car for a while. I'm very pleased. Plus, at ~$430 for the kit I kinda wonder why more people don't go with this option. It's not rated for as much TQ as other clutches, but for a conservatively tuned Stage 2/early 3 it should be plenty.

Just my $0.02

I enjoyed the Exedy Stg 1 a lot more than the FX350 but didn't think it would have held the torque I'm running. I did have some chatter with it, not nearly as much as the FX350 though. How many miles did you have the FX350 in? Why did you replace?

Jerm, even I read (9000 miles when I pulled it). Even with my old eye's. :)

Haha. Yep, as stated, pulled around 9,000 miles due to excessive chatter under all conditions. Jerm, posted in your other thread :)

my 2+ is still awsome, well over 1000 miles now. highly recommend. once every now and then I get a squeek noise when Im letting the clutch out (starting to move from dead stop) but its rare and I think its going away (happend more around 300 -500 miles) I cant remember the last time it did that as of this point. But really is a non issue. I really like the clutch. Pedal feel is good for any kind of driving, 100X better than the FX350.

This is the fx350 i took out. There was dust from friction material EVERYWHERE. And i dont know how well you can tell from the pictures but the disk is just totally worn out, like it had 200,000 miles on it. My flywheel did not look bad at all but I had it turned anyway.

I mailed this thing to Clutchmasters from here in OH. It was like 20$ shipping. I called them today because I had not heard anything from them. The person on the phone told me that the disk was faulty, that the pressure plate was still good, and that the disk had been "repaired". He took my name and address and said that they would be shipping it back to me. I was really surprised I didn't get a sorry out of luck answer. But well see what I end up getting back. One thing I know i will not get back is the time and labor it took me to do take the tranny out again. Also I would never go back to this clutch because of the spec being better in EVERY way. So I guess I'll just have to try and sell it or something.

That noise from the Spec 2+ is normal. Mine did it for years, I called Spec. They told me not to worry It's caused by the material on the disc. My Spec 2 makes it sometimes too.

I received a second email from Clutchmasters from someone different.

He offered to issue a RMA so I could send the clutch back (on my shipping costs) to have them inspect it and the look into rebuilding it for me (at "cost" but I'd have to pay for it).

Yea, no thanks.

I didn't want to do this when I talked to them. but I did and it only ended up costing me the 18$ for shiping it to them. They sent me a new disk and throwout bearing and cleaned up my old pressure plate. Now I have a new problem, selling the clutch they sent me, I would never put that thing back in my car. But at least I'll be getting some of my $$ back when i find someone to buy it.

One weird thing, the new disk that they sent me says "EXEDY" on the center section. The one I sent them did not have that.

having a Friday morning brain-fart here as im about to order a Spec 2+ to replace my FX350.

Since I originally installed the FX350 with a Subaru oem single-mass flywheel, do I need to order a Spec 2+ clutch kit for a 2006+ Wrx instead of a 2006 LGT?

order this: http://www.fredbeansparts.com/spec-staged-clutch-kits.html

instead of this: http://www.fredbeansparts.com/spec-subaru-legacy-gt-clutch-kit-s.html

Did you end up putting this in yet?

Im trying to get some more feedback on which clutch to replace my failing fx350 with. Im leaning towards the spec2+ but still undecided.

after a few PMs with Max I went with the Spec 2 instead of the 2+.

It has not been installed yet though.

FWIW, when I install a clutch, I wipe the FW and PP with Acetone to remove any film that may be there. Grease the snout on the tranny where the TOB slide, a little grease on the splines and pilot bearing. I use wheel bearing grease to handle the heat.

Anti-seize on all the bolts and the guide pins.

Just to clarify this, you did order this one right? http://www.fredbeansparts.com/spec-staged-clutch-kits.html

Not the other one you had mentioned above? I'm planning on ordering a spec 2 with an oem 06 SMFW from the WRX. So I want to make sure i'm buying the right parts.
