You are using the OEM strut top mounts right? Not the Group N or Spec B ones? You remembered to install the Conical Washer? Yeah, they shouldnt be so tight that the bolt cant pull it down. Removal also shouldnt be that difficult. Back in 01/02 we had to call the factory up to let them know they were over-torquing the left rear WRX knuckle bolts on the struts. We would literally have to put a 6' breaker bar and my 300lbs on the end of it barely knocked them loose.
