  1. I don't like them, but my 06 XT is a Limited, so it's there. I think I've opened it twice.
  2. Wheee, this looks so much more fun than replacing the PCV on the NA engine. Oh well, gotta have downsides to this turbo gig I suppose. If I end up having to pull the intake manifold to get the dang thing out, might as well replace the turbo inlet that seems to be leaking slightly. Hmm, OEM for $100ish or Cobb for $200ish...
  3. Like seriously, how do you even get the dang thing out? I bought a new Subaru OEM assembly, but just kinda blinked at how to get the old one out of the car. The like 2 youtube videos don't show the process at all.
  4. As a follow up, my beater broke down before I could do much other than zip tie the vacuum hoses on the blue connector and bulletproof my TMIC. So, we're back on the road for the moment until I can get the old H6 to stop puking coolant everywhere.
  5. Time for a Perrin or Cobb inlet then. Neat. Also, holy ballz the PCV assembly on this engine is terrible to access.
  6. Ok, I give up. Do I seriously have to create an account on another image site to post something here? Only thing I have is Google photos, and I'm the only one who can see the pics.
  7. Are the pics working for folks now that the site is back up?
  8. Well, found my vac leak. Standard blue T fitting under the TMIC had popped apart. Off to the store as I seem to have no zipties somehow. Found some...odd things. Please let me know if the images don't come through right, I'm trying to use my phone for this. Intercooler leak. Like this all over that side. Bulletproofing kit save this? Looking down into the turbo to intercooler o-ring area. This doesn't look normal to me? Not sure if this is new or old. The coolant line off the smaller reservoir leaked and was replaced a few years ago. Also, notable oil residue in the tube to the BOV and to the TMIC. New PCV time definitely. This looks like a PITA to change. Anyone know what all I'm looking at here?
  9. Cleaned MAF, no effect. Found some oil on the exterior of the TMIC, time to order a bulletproof kit ASAP. FWIW, reflashed to the factory tune via the AP just to have a better baseline than an OTS map. I'm pretty sure I can hear a vac leak, there is a constant hissing while she's running. Going to pull the TMIC off to get a better look at things. Can't find anything loose yet. Guess this is where she gets parked for a minute for trouble shooting and parts ordering. Might as well do plugs and PVC while I've got the TMIC off. Note to self, PS needs a new o-ring, it's weeping. EDIT: I love my old beater H6 wagon. Been sitting 2 months. Has a HG leak, 2 busted front CV axles, warped front rotors, shot rear end links, flaky starter, and needs plugs and a fuel filter. Jumped and started right up. Trickle charging now, likely gotta replace that battery but dang that car takes a beating. Least he'll get me to work while my XT is taken apart. A 1 year old means car works comes in small intervals instead of dedicated days.
  10. Splitting off my issue to not totally derail my original post. https://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/first-roadtrip-my-new-old-xt-p6040655.html Mods feel free to move if there is a better place for this post. tl;dr 2006 OBXT 5EAT 124,000ish miles Bone stock other than Cobb AP with Stage 1 91 octane map loaded. Initially began running rough coming to a stop or at a basic idle. Threw a P0171 - System too Lean while driving across town. I drove her very gently home and parked. Started up this morning to move car and let wife out, 2 new codes pop up. P0301 - Cylinder 1 misfire detected P0303 - Cylinder 3 misfire detected Of note, I have basic hand tools and a carport. Don't have any way to perform a smoke or vacuum test. Would need to take to mechanic for that. Have a decent Subaru shop about 10 miles away I could limp to on surface streets and try to keep out of boost as long as that is safe. Plan of attack: -Inspect for obvious vacuum leaks to the best of my ability. -Clean MAF. -Inspect plugs. -While I have things apart replace plugs and PCV assembly. Plugs age/miles uncertain. Valve cover gaskets were replaced about 30,000 miles ago and I would presume new plugs were installed at that time, but they aren't listed on the invoice separately. PCV assembly may be factory, not on any service records I have (family vehicle I purchased, I have almost all records since new). -Inspect banjo bolt filter (because why not). -Wish I had my new catless uppipe already since I'm likely pulling the intercooler off for elbow room to work anyways. What am I obviously forgetting?
  11. Couple more codes popped up today. I'ma start a new thread to consolidate info.
  12. Whelp, that rough idle turned into P0171 system too lean code today. Off to Google-fu.
  13. East TN to Charleston and back. My first roadtrip in this car. Vehicle is 100% stock outside of Cobb AP with Stage 1 91 octane map. Dang hot out, temps in the upper 80's to mid 90's the entire time. MPG was meh, between the stops for wifey to nurse the kiddo and leaving the AC blasting at idle due to the aforementioned heat and the 80MPH cruising to make up time for the aforementioned nursing stops. Got in the 20-22MPG range. She handled well. Has picked up a bit of a rough idle at coming to a stop light recently. No MIL on the dash or the AP, gonna hunt down my old ScanGauge II and see if there are any pending codes. Otherwise, likely a bottle of fuel system cleaner, install the PCV that's been sitting staring at me, and check the plugs as I'm not sure how old they are. Maybe 30K?
  14. Scored a small deal on some oil for the XT. Got three 5 quart jugs of Castrol Edge 0W40 for $18.25 each. I'm set for a while now.
  15. Well, I had some suggestions buuuuuuuuuuut now I seem to have caught a case of the nopes.
  16. Clarification: Are you wanting a yellow assembly or just a yellow tinted bulb? I've been running a set of Nokya yellow fogs in my 2002 Outback since about 2012 or so.
  17. I totally understand the response, and I honestly expected it. It's still a terrible response from a customer service perspective. Decent service would be "As I am unable to correct the issue in question, here is what I can offer...". "Hate that for you bro" is not acceptable at McDonalds or Subaru in my belief. It is, however, what it is. I hate dash mats, and dropping a grand for a new dash is a poor use of limited funds available. I'll either end up flocking it when it pisses me off enough or trying this kit: https://stickydashfix.com/collections/hsv-holden-special-vehicles/products/sticky-dash-fix-kit-to-suit-subaru-legacy-liberty-outback-2003-2009?variant=31775509479467
  18. I emailed SOA this: Replay from SOA While I am not surprised. "Yeah, that sucks, don't it?" is a terrible customer service reply.
  19. I have 2 2006's Outbacks in the family fleet. Their build tags are within a few months of each other. The 2.5i has a normal dash. The XT is sticky and cracked in a few places. Oddly enough the XT spent most of it's life garaged and the other has mostly been carport or street parked.
  20. I'm hoping to get a good while of out this one. The 3rd Gen Outback is my favorite platform and they are getting harder to find that don't need way too much work now.
  21. Here's my updates/plans for the vehicle. My goal is as reliable of a daily driver as possible without sacrificing every single MPG. Problems: Parking brake boot torn. Replaced. Cigarette lighter/power outlet loose and/or nonworking. Ehh, the plug in the center console works, so I don't care until I have to open up the dash for something. Center console armrest does not latch. Not the screws, latch is busted. Meh. Auto dimming mirror dead. Replaced. HVAC makes a racket when vehicle turns off. Leaky heater core or sunroof drain? Passenger floor mat wet. Cleared sunroof drain tube, problem solved. Victim of Subaru sticky dash. Rear hatch struts are going bad. Upgrades in progress: Yellow LaminX foglights. Done. Tint. Paintless dent repair and paint correction. Disable DRLs. Done. HIR1 high beam upgrade. Subtle Solutions radiator shroud. Done. Bulletproof kit for OEM TMIC. Done. Cobb Accessport V3. Done. Inspect/remove banjo bolt filters. Catless up pipe. Acquired used, awaiting install. ThermalZero uppipe blanket. Grimmspeed crank pulley. Acquired used, awaiting install. Grimmspeed master cylinder brace. Possible future mods? Cobb catted downpipe. ThermalZero downpipe blanket. Aftermarket turbo heatshield. Acquired used V1 Grimmspeed, awaiting install. Grimmspeed crossover pipe. AVO exhaust system. Turbo upgrade to VF52 series? Protune. Suspension refresh. HID Retrofit from TRS. TMIC upgrade if OEM fails. Turbo inlet upgrade if OEM fails. AOS if needed. Add Aux adapter for Ipod/phone. Upgrade door speakers.
  22. Can't find the bulletproofing kits online anymore, anyone have one laying around? Or an unmarried V3 in the Sub002 flavor? 37601 area, but can travel a bit for it.
