Made some nice progress on the passenger STI seat. I got the STI cushion and leather on the legacy frame and the airbag/occupancy sensors & seat heaters all wired up. Plugged everything while the seat back and bottom were still apart to test and everything is working correctly. Last few things I need to do are the metal grinding to get the seat back bolted up and switch out the power seat rail for the manual ones. Happy New Year to all!

Overall in good condition, the worst of the wear is pictured on the bolster. No rips or tears, everything works. Selling becuase I swapped in an STI seat.

Got the STI steering wheel installed and did all the wire work to get the cruise and audio controls working this weekend but kicking myself in the ass a little bit. When I hooked the battery back up and turned the key to the accesory on position I was positive the steering wheel controls were lighting up when I turned the headlights on so I went ahead a buttoned up all the panels. When I turned the car on to go for a drive and test the cruise the controls they weren't lighting up and the cruise control buttons didn't work. I also realized that i never ordered the i85 harness from SVX back when I did my JDM double din so the audio controls won't work until I get and install that harness. Steering wheel is also slightly off center to the left. I'm going to leave it as is until I can get ahold of SVX and get the harness. Especially annoyed the cruise controls don't work because I broke out the the soldering iron and heat shrink rather than using crimp connectors. Wheel looks much better though.

Looks like it, although I was way off on the price. I wonder if you'd get an "out-of-stock/discontinued" follow-up after placing an order. https://www.subarupartsplus.com/search?search_str=door%2Bcard&page=2&year=&make=&model= Whoa buddy....we don't even have Hyvee in Indiana. Love the midwest and typing the following as a Hoosier. Little bit different if your living in another mid-west state. Politics aside, cheap as shit living costs, diverse geography, southern Indiana is gorgeous in the fall driving through the hills, not far from the Appalachians, Michigan's U.P. is a days drive away, Great Lakes, I can get to Canada for some poutine in 5ish hours, solid college and professional sports teams, multiple states with recreational marijuana if your into it, and 4 distinct seasons. You can buy a house to fulfill your country living dreams if you choose and be 20-30 minutes out from a major city or do some city living if that's your thing (referring to Indianapolis not Chicago).

Lol. Still get the cold of the north east without the snow which makes it worse in my opinion. I can handle the cold if there's plenty of snow to go with it. Miss the lake effect winter's growing up in South Bend where you'd get 2"-4" inches almost every time it snowed. Indianapolis rarely gets a cumulative foot for the entire year. Other problem is being lowered so I can't use any automatic carwashes with rails. There is only one carwash that I know of within 15 miles of me that is "touch free". Pull the car in the stall, gets laser measured, and the brushes adjust to the shape of the car. It's decent but it's also the only place where I can get an underbody spray down to get the salt off. I believe it's PnP from my research. At most I'll just have to un-do 4 nuts and swap the igniter over to the STI airbag. I believe this is Shogun506's video walkthrough. Skip to 8:30ish for the airbag work.

Alrighty, took a few snaps of the JDM door cards and also snagged a pic of a USDM door card from another thread . The pop-its aren't in mine currently to help distinguish the mounting points but they look completely identical. The USDM door card is the grainy-er pic in the parking lot. If my USDM door cards were in better shape I definitely would have just tried to find the speaker grills for the 3" mid and cut the hole for them. That would have been stupidly simple. The only other part needed for them would be the speaker mount which is a little unique but I know madrig made these in carbon fiber at one point. Also included a pic of the one door card I have disassembled. Just need to do the other and then send off the inserts with the rear door cards to get re-upholstered. I really hate how Subaru used the the plastic rivets to hold the door cards together instead of screws.

Will do gentlemen. Wife has been bugging me about the STI seat to get it out of the house and into the car so she can enjoy it. Going to get started on it this weekend but not sure if I'll complete it. I'm not postive my current dremel with it's attachments will be up to the task of metal grinding. We shall see though.

That should be all you have to do for the fronts, rears are completely PnP. I haven't tried mounting the fronts on the car yet but the mounting points look to be identical. WRX USA is the only other person who's done this that I know of and could confirm that before I could get a chance to test mount. I can snap a few pics of them when after work today either way. Alternatively, I've debated about just drilling a hole in the USDM cards and tansferring the 3rd speaker grill for the mid. If I remember correctly it's only held in with a few trapezoid shaped extension tabs on the back but I need to look at it again. Original owner of my car had a small dog so there's scratches and other wear marks while the JDM cards are damn near pristine. Even the red lines on the lock button have zero fading or use marks.

Bought a complete 2011 STI steering wheel for a decent deal on Ebay. Last modification part I'll be buying until about the middle of next year. I need to finish up some of my current projects and get the space back in my home office. To-Do's: - Install STI passenger seat - Swap the window switch face plates on the front JDM door cards, get the inserts re-upholstered red and install - Install the JDM tweeter housings in the mirror location - Install the McIntosh subwoofer housing in the cargo area - Install STI steering wheel and run wires for the audio controls - Wash the car (close to 1.5 months without a wash - brings great shame and dishonor to my family)

RallySportDirect has is having a one day 15% off sale for Killer B. I'm having a hard time talking myself out of why I shouldn't pull the trigger on the holy header/up-pipe combo & waiting for my wife to get home so I can "discuss it" with her. In other news, got the Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4's mounted in just time before we received a few inches of snow. Damn fine winter tires that handles great in the dry/wet/snow that live up to reviews.
-
Finally got around to ordering winter tires. Going with a set of Michelin Alpin PA4's to wrap around the hyperblack Rota Gravels. Should be getting mounted and aligned on Friday. Excited to be going back to a dedicated winter/summer setup rather than running the Pilot Sport A/S 3+'s all year round. It's not a bad tire in the cold but once you get into 1"-2" of snow they get a little squirrely. Only downside is running out of room in the garage for all this rubber and alloy. 3 of our 4 cars will now have 2 sets wheels/tires.

What Would You Do?
DoctorDaveLGT replied to 2008SpecB's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
Why not just look at several of the well known Subaru engine builders (IAG, Crawford, Element, etc) and compare their built short blocks to see what they use for each? I'd bet you find certain parts/manufacturers used by several vendors as a good starting point. If/When you build your specB, would it be your daily or a weekend warrior with another car covering daily duties? C5 Z06's in decent condition can be had for ~$20k. Right now on AutoTrader there's an '02 with 27k miles and has a $25k asking price. Buy that, budget about $10k for a blower and supporting mods and you'll have a reliable 500whp (conservative) car. -
Drove it today. Also got a glimpse of the upcoming holiday bonus and decided to take advantage of some of the holiday deals still going on and picked up the items below. This is all in preparation for the JMP custom BNR 18g that is currently in the works. Still need rails, injectors, fuel line & fittings, and headers. AEM 340lph Fuel Pump Aeromotive A1000 FPR IAG Top Feed TGV Deletes New Gaskets for the entire TGV & IM assembly

The drive was pretty great, felt like I was getting hugged the entire way. Lumbar support is ok for not being adjustable but not great. Very minor lower back ache by the end of the drive but I would get the same long distance ache in the legacy seat even with the adjustable lumbar or most every other car seat I've been in with or without adjustable lumbar. I'm 5'11" with a longer torso. Like, if family had been waiting in the driveway when we arrived from our 3 hr trip it's not bad enough to where the first thing I would do is get out of the car, stretch, and mutter "ah, my back" before I start doling out the hugs. I love everything else about the seat. The tighter side bolsters and suede just keep you more planted around corners. Seat height seems to be identical although the STI feels a little lower with how the seat bottom angles down from front to back (knees higher, butt lower). I haven't measured to verify though. Seat heater isn't as intense as the legacy but it still does the trick and the additional heater element in the seat back makes up for it as well.
-
Only lost power adjustments. Seat heaters aren't as good, but they still work well enough. The frame for any 08-14 sti seats should bolt right up without issues. There's some work needed to make sure the airbag light isn't on for the driver's side while the passenger side is a whole other beast. This explains the process to get them both to work. I bought these off of wrx hatch 87 when his car got totaled and he had the driver's side done to where it was completely PnP and took me about an hour to pull lgt seat, clean/vacuum the carpet and put the STI in. I'll be tackling the passenger side after Christmas when I have some more time.
-
Have the day off today and decided to knock out one half of one of my projects while I wait for the wife to get home and we hit the road for some thanksgiving traveling. It's definitely more comfy just sitting in it in the garage and the tighter side bolsters are a nice reminder of the porker I've become. Anxious to see how I'll like it after our ~3 hr drive later tonight. Sent her a pic when I was done and she said I need to do the passenger side sooner than later.

pdXammo's MT Wagon resto/build
DoctorDaveLGT replied to pdXammo's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
Had a local reputable shop upholstery did mine. Performed a thorough cleaning of the headliner and laid down a black fabric over it. They said if it starts to sag within a few years to bring it back and they'll fix it for free. I can't remember the exact cost since the car was at my go-to shop and they outsourced the work to them while they were working on the interior themselves and it wasn't itemized. -

Can confirm. I've done the full upper black conversion and it's so much better.
