  1. I have 225 55 17 If I would buy my next tires I would go with 235 60 17 Sumitomo htr a/s p02 not expensive and good all around. so whatever size you have, go 10mm wider and 5% of the total width higher, this way you will get some more meat but still be able to seat 5 without rubbing. On my other car Mk4 jetta TDI which normally takes 195 65 15 I installed Kumho Krugen HT51 truck tires size 215 70 15 now that is some noticeable meat. If you find Kumho Krugen HT 51 go for it, it is has great rating for all season truck tire with 70000 thread warranty and 3 peak snowflake symbol. What I like about them is that sharp profile when looking from the back. It has noticeable square look and sharp edges. I probably did not explain myself clearly but you get the idea. Krugen HT51 is more expensive than sumitomo but for snow they are great and do not wear fast. I am sure you already know this, larger diameter tire will effect speed and odometer reading, and also acceleration and braking will be effected. You will like lower rpm on highway.
  2. LOL sounds like someone is doing some construction work under you car. How long this lasts? Does it happen when engine is on? The only logical thing is something is cooling off, Check that you have enough coolant and no air in cooling system. Looks like your exhaust is running very hot. How many miles on the odometer? When this happens I would use laser temperature gun and measure temperature of the catalytic converter before and after catalytic converter. If the temperature is about 150F difference your cat could be clogged.
  3. Thank you Sir, it did not work. I tested it today with another hose.
  4. I am trying to increase idle rpm by about 50-100 rpm If I tap into one of the vacuum hoses with a speed control valve for pneumatic cylinders so that I can fine tune amount of vacuum leak and at the end install one of those small mushroom filters. Will this work? or will ECM see that and try to work around it with different map parameters? What you guys think?
  5. Increasing RPMs is very normal, I can do it with VAG COM software on my VW car, I am sure there is high and low limit so no one can make it idle at some extreme rpms. Just watched the video where rpm was increased with free ssm on older subaru. Someone must have some experience with ssm 3 that covers up to 2018 model years.
  6. it is N A 2.5l and as I said above, sorry I was not very clear in my question, I am trying to raise idle rpm when ac is on by about 100rpm to eliminate engine shaking. I noticed when at stop lights with AC on once radiator fans kick in, it will start to shake. Cleaned the TB and MAF, AF is new and no change.
  7. Sorry my bad, I was not clear in my question. I am trying to increase idle rpm by 70-100 rpm when AC is on.
  8. Ok, what is the cheapest software/tool that I can use to increase the idle rpm on the 6th generation? https://www.obd2tool.com/goods-5055-VXDIAG-SUBARU-SSM-III-Multi-Diagnostic-Tool.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIgcKMupme6wIVENvACh0YiwhhEAQYAyABEgLCQfD_BwE will this work?
  9. Hi all, does the SSM free software work on 6th generation and did anyone play with idle RPM adjustment? I need to increase rpm for 70-100 rpm when AC is on. I noticed car shaking when at stop lights with ac on and only when radiator fans kick in. Looks like ECM is not increasing rpm enough.
  10. Hey, check that the lower grill shutter or whatever is called (the one that automatically closes at high speed) is stuck in the closed position just an idea that came to my head.
  11. make sure you get the one with the nipple, so you can push on little hose to guide oil into any container.
  12. you have selected a wonderful German engineering vehicle with handling that you do not even have to test drive, it will be more than you would even be able to imagine. I can only imagine how nice the real satellite view GPS feels like. Wish you all the best with new your new car. In my opinion no one makes better looking interiors than Audi. Your 2020 interior will look better than 2040 interior of any domestic or Asian cars.
  13. guys that selected to go with the wheels that have different offsets from the OEM 55mm, can you please tell me your offsets and what difference in handling you notice from the OEM 55mm offset? Also if you know your old vs new wheel weight in lb please mention that too if not it is OK. Thank you all in advance! I am interested to hear mostly about the steering wheel weight/feel at highway speeds. For me OEM 55mm offset steering weight feels light, I prefer heavier weight of the steering wheel at higher speed and wonder if your other offset numbers and heavier weight wheels made your steering feel heavier.
  14. I tried to go and see if I can download it but it is not giving me option to download only to pay subscription to see information. If that is $35 per month that is expensive then. do you have a link where I can go and get the download? thank you in advance!
  15. how to do the parasitic drain test yourself Engine must be off for this test! tools needed: multi meter AKA DVOM, 10mm socket or wrench 1. move the red lead plug to the Ampere socket on your meter to be able to measure Amps 2. set your multi meter to read mA 3. disconnect negative battery cable 4. connect red lead to the negative battery post and black to the disconnected negative battery cable. 4. check the reading. If you see <70mA you are good, if >70mA something is draining battery 5. continue holding if you do not have alligator clips and ask your friend to start removing fuses one by one. 6. if you remove fuse and no changes in reading, put that fuse back in, go to the next one until number drops. 7. when number drops stop and read on the cover what that fuse controls and post your findings here I will let you know what to check next
  16. Hi, for start remove radiator cap when engine is cold, start the engine and look for any baubles. No baubles is good, baubles is head gasket. 2016 is new for radiator to be clogged. Also you could have air pocket in the cooling system if someone was draining and refilling coolant and did not know what he/she was doing. I also suggest removing radiator cap, reservoir cap with engine cold and run engine until cooling fans start to run or coolant starts to spill out from the radiator. This will remove all air pockets. Also do not forget to have heat on max and fans on 3-4 speed during this procedure. If the radiator cap was loosing pressure you would notice coolant around the cap area and on top of the radiator. Also any head gasket leaks would show up as steamy exhaust even when engine reaches operating temperature.
  17. I am 6'5" love wife's 2015 scion xb for that reason
  18. Thank you for the reply, I am used to alldata and mitchel. I am to be honest disappointed in this original subaru manual, it is not very user friendly or to say organized for easy information search. Did you notice wiring diagrams do not show colors of the wire, only pin numbers. I prefer both like all data and mitchel do pin number with the wire colors.
  19. really no one can open the hood start the car and see if their fans turn on with ac on, during first morning start?
  20. hello, can someone please confirm this for me. Today I just wanted to see if my cooling fans work, so engine was cold (first morning start and outside temperature was around 40F) I started engine, turned AC on with trans in P opened hood to see fans not spinning. After 30 mile drive checked the same and both fans were now working at slow speed which is normal. So please in the morning or when your engine is cold, start the engine, turn ac on and check if your cooling fans turn on with AC on. Mine is 2.5l Thanks in advance!
  21. I agree with the above. You might be ok with 5w 30 if you are in extreme hot temperatures and are using car as uber driver or taxi, anything else go with 0-20 from Walmart
  22. I just got back from 1600 mile round trip with ssd bar and did not notice crosswinds at all. Maybe I was just lucky I would like to hear from others what they think.
  23. Hello all and Happy New Year, I just wanted to ask if anyone had chance to look behind the fender plastic liner to see if there is dirt accumulating at all. From experience with some GM and VW cars dirt and old dried leaves would accumulate behind the front mud flaps inside between the fender plastic liner and fenders and would remain wet causing rust in that area. So I wonder if we need to remove once a year lower part of the liner and clean behind it.
  24. You can also download original factory repair manual for $14 in pdf form it is 7400 pages https://www.ebay.com/itm/Subaru-Legacy-Outback-2015-2016-2017-2018-2019-Service-Repair-Workshop-Manual/264198711840?hash=item3d83786a20:g:-9cAAOSwhmNcwIdJ
