The OEM heat shielding is the best as well. Hard to beat it unless you spend hundreds of dollars. IMHO blankets work but unless you are building a monster car its not really worth it.

2005 LGT EZ30R Turbo 6mt Build
VespaGTS replied to Newbie123's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
What this makes me wonder it this... What other crazy fun cars have you built? You have the skills and I am guessing one heck of a background working with welding etc... Those exhaust pieces for you headers look like nice custom bike lugs, so amazing! -
AOS - Do all of you run one?
VespaGTS replied to Mr. Electric Wizard's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
I have a Crawford and its a serious install since it has coolant running through it. In fact I pulled into the gas station yesterday and one of the coolant lines was blown and I had lost quite a bit of coolant. The engine never overheated, I added coolant and a new line and all is good. Its a bit of spaghetti tubing wise and the hose that was bent too far didn't look like it. I think time and heat cycles and a little too much bend got me. Easy fix and happy I was in town and not out in the mountains when it happened. I now have a couple feet of coolant line in the spare tire area just in case. Performance wise my intake is mostly dry and clean. Nothing like it used to be. FWIW - I would install a cylinder 4 cooling mod first for longevity over an AOS. -

Just order one from him, he's happy to make one for you. Thats what I did. -
So the verdict is that since it’s a 5eat tuned to pull hard it is just lugging too much driving around town. It defaults to around the 2k rpm range in normal traffic conditions, which is not what it wants to do. Motor and trans mounts are good. Axles and CV are good. No suspension issues. No trans issues. Just need to use the manual mode more when I drive it. Full auto mode makes it lug along. Dang I wish it was a 5 speed…. Not doing that without speciality Insurance on the car. Can I upgrade to the paddle shifters on a 07 LGT, the steering wheel buttons kinda suck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I agree it’s time for a couple hours of diagnostics. I setup shop time for next Tuesday and should hopefully have an answer. I might stick a GoPro under the hood and in a couple other places on the car this weekend. Driveline might be a problem as well. At this point I don’t want to load the money cannon with parts I don’t need. I’ll post the answer here when I get one.

Sorry for the long delay. Life is crazy these days! The motor mounts, according to my shop ArcFlash are okay. The trans mounts and trans were inspected by a transmission shop and they said no problems. ArcFlash mentioned that it could be the torque converter, but the trans shop didn't mention it after inspection? I am starting to believe that these shops are so busy that they don't want to deal with a vibration issue. When riding in the car with a tech he said it felt like it was vibrating at his feet, I also had the same feeling at the same time. So that's where the torque converter talk started. Its frustrating to say the least. It didn't make this sound before? Should I just replace the trans mounts and motor mounts, the car does have 160k on it. I don't see how they are still in good shape? But I hate spending hard earned cash fixing things that don't need it.

I’ve got a strange problem. When my car is cold if I turn the ignition to the point where the interior blower turns on I get a strong smell of raw gas in the cabin. It’s a short experience with the strong odor but it’s there. Keep in mind the engine is off. So it’s not an exhaust smell. No codes or anything yet. Where to start is my question? I have sniffed my way around the engine bay and looked for drips but I haven’t found the source. Any help is appreciated. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’m curious why you haven’t fixed the EGT code and O2 sensor code? Do they not add to the problem? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Oil temp gauge sensor best location?
VespaGTS replied to neeksimons's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
Do you have a good source for the Defi gauges? I don’t see a way to purchase from the Defi shop. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Great idea!

Nice work! It’s good to see it instead of parts catalog images. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So don’t close them or run with windows cracked open forever. Ugh… Exhaust tips are the next option and then the wrecking yard for some bits and pieces.

Joe's Used Parts Build, forum sourced
VespaGTS replied to JoeInOregon's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
Hi Joe, let’s try to coordinate some time when you’re working on your car. I say this because I have a 340 pump to put in my car and I would’ve liked to be there for the process. I know you are planning on doing JDM headlights. If you would like to see what JDM HID headlights look like installed with Shields flipped I could bring my legacy by for you to check out. Have a great day! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
