  1. Cobb 08-14 WRX/STI fits with tweaks and bumper mods, has a crash bar
  2. To me, oil choice has become just another venue for paranoia about whether the car will blow up. I've run Brotella, Amsoil, Motul, Liquimoly 40W synthetics, mostly got clean Blackstone analyses with some interesting comments about metal content and what they could mean. Once in all my years I picked up signs of wear, which I heard as a light knock within a few thousand miles. Don't think that was the particular oil's fault. As long as it's the correct viscosity, has whatever property modifiers your application calls for and doesn't shear to uselessness within 3000 miles, seems a given oil is fine to me. I've resolved to stop sending oil to Blackstone on this build, just cuz. It's already noisy, that gives me plenty to worry about every time I drive near a wall with a window open. Speaking of oil - another 5 speed seems destined to die. Sounds like an input shaft bearing is going. Who wants me to fill the turd with 4 quarts of Lucas oil stabilizer/donkey snot and see what happens?
  3. You will not be able to edit a Cobb map with Romraider.
  4. Not sure where the leak is - I haven't even opened the shipping box. The rack was so cheap that there was no way I couldn't buy it
  5. I have a 15+ STI rack in need of a seal that I picked up off of NASIOC because it was a screaming deal, if ya feel like giving Jaylew's instructions a shot.
  6. Got the GM IAT sensor wired in, collecting some data before getting into speed density. Wagon got smacked by a chunk of semi tire on the freeway, hood is dented and creased, paid for a scoopless hood because of it. Need to trade someone the AVO for a quieter catback, think I'm implementing a return to subtlety.
  7. Yep. I'll check my stash and reupdate the list when I'm back in town Monday, and shoot you a PM if any of the new additions fit the bill
  8. Awesome, thanks for the input. I happen to have an Evo III 16G coming off of the car for an x500 in the near future. I fully expect to miss the low end response of the 16G .... sounds like a good candidate for JMP magic if John has the time.
  9. Made a pleasant discovery on the way to work today. Rowed through gears quickly for the first time on the new build. Despite the fact that the motor's noisier in terms of piston slap than the RA block was, there is now zero shift knock! Was pretty bad before - had to time my shifts just right or else it'd pull up to 10 degrees on both 93 and E85.
  10. Why not you (or your machine shop) verify cam journal clearances to make sure that journal isn't too worn?
  11. Max - what rear arms are those? Finished pump gas tune on 93 - car still hasn't blown up or started making any new noises. Guess .0035 is a tad on the noisy side. Makes me wonder if the .003 PTWC I was originally running wouldn't have rubbed had it been set with a proper torque plate bore op..... original drop-in Manleys went into factory bores measured round @ free state...
  12. And there's the justification. The guy with the racecar said to do it!
  13. Drove it on a 900 mile road trip, no new noises and oil looked normal changed afterwards. Still sorta want to pull it out and split the block and look at stuff. Two friends have told me I have a mental illness.
  14. Dang the DBW pedal that came on my car must have been a factory upgrade then.
  15. Installed ELH, BCP x500 and EWG bits on hand ready to go on. Almost done with break-in, motor makes a tick I don't like on light throttle at ~1500 RPM. Definitely can't be heard via stethoscope to oilpan, sounds more like it's coming from the underside of the heads meaning piston slap or valvetrain. Paranoid me is seriously considering tearing the motor back down once break-in is complete, just to inspect everything, partly as a way to ensure peace of mind before tuning. Would be a good learning experience, anyhow. Sane me says finish break-in, tune on the 16G and run it for 3k, and then do a UOA. Still owe socalsleeper some bumper trimming photos for the Cobb FMIC - grabbed some but realized I need to trim a little bit more on one side. I suppose if I pull the motor again I can do it then.
  16. Idk about decent and low mile, but I can send you a set to have cleaned/serviced for the cost of shipping and a 6 pack. I have like 10 sets
  17. Somehow, between the piping and the AOS, things look more cluttered now. As Nonamedude puts it, air octopus
  18. Wellp, that took a lot of cutting. No fog lights for me ever. Needed about half of the fog mounts cut off, and the majority of the extension coming off the lower scoop.
  19. Doesn't matter as long as injector and MAF scaling are right and you stay out of boost, and the map is for an engine with the same compression ratio
