  1. Coilovers raise and lower the suspension NOT the body on the suspension. Basically the outback has a body lift much like you would see some people do on a jeep. So the answer to all your questions is no. You can install coilovers and not have to do any of the mentioned mods. I have an Outback XT currently on BC/BR coils. Did nothing else but get an alignment. I am going to do the legacy GT suspension geometry swap though to get rid of the spacers and have more travel to the rear control arms.
  2. Yea yours is a 2.5i. They have a valve and a pressure switch. 2005 Turbos just have the OCV
  3. Car is fixed. Swapped OCV for the AVCS today and car is running great!!! Mine was mostly a stuble stutter when first taking off. Didn't do it all the time and in the winter it was better, not perfect but better. I finally got around to getting my ATR software going with my AP and monitored some ECU parameters. Found the AVCS ALL OVER THE PLACE. I sometimes would get crazy numbers like 40 sitting still at an idle just reving up the motor a bit. The two banks were not the same at times and my idle at times was terrible. So today I put new plugs in, and the old ones looked real good. But the real change was new OCV for the AVCS. Once I put these in my car it is running great. Those dang things affected my fuel trims B and C, had some knock once and a while, some roughness cylinder in each cylinder once in a while. I found that when I had these problems (very intermittent) the AVCS was all whacked out.
  4. Your stick looks short, did you change anything, like put in a kartboy stick?
  5. Here is my spec B shifter surround trim with a redline boot and the STI emblem in place of SI Drive emblem
  6. Also here is what a cut stock shift boot looks like with the oring to hold it up. Oring size is .12" thick 1.165 ID O Ring for shift boot
  7. A really good piece to get is the hanger that bolts to the 6 speed for the down pipe. It's listed in NSFW OP but here it is Downpipe support bracket - 44021FE030
  8. According to opposed forces: Legacy GT/Outback XT 30620AA173 Legacy Spec B 30620AA172 08 Up STI 30620AA150 Not sure what makes them different
  9. Install Guide..... http://dccdpro.com/main/wp-content/downloads/FUELPro%20Guide.pdf
  10. Looks like DCCDpro the makers of the DCCD controller used in many 6 speed swaps has come out with a fuel pump control module. http://dccdpro.com/main/?p=309 http://dccdpro.com/zcart/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3&products_id=6
  11. lossol, just looking for a couple of small changes/ improvements, here they are from previous posts. Lastly I had mentioned that when the VBG times out and goes blank, if you touch the button to wake it back up it goes to the next selection instead of waking up where it was before. So for example if I am looking at AFR and it goes to sleep, if I touch the button to wake it up, it goes to AFR graph or whatever the next selection in line is. It would be nice if you touch the button and it just wakes up and goes back to what you were looking at before. Minor inconvenience so not too critical
  12. Wow Id be interested in one of these as well for my 05 Outback possibly. Edit: Saw the pricing on OP may have to wait but will keep it in mine
  13. Need to do a leak down/ compression test. That will tell you the most. Mine lost an exhaust valve at 150K. Bought new and meticulously maintained. When mine finally failed after fighting some misfires it would not really run well at all below 2K. Drove it home highway miles and kept it above 2K If I went below the 2k it would not stay running. 30 PSI in one cylinder. Block and pistons were perfect. Installed a new motor anyway as engine had to come out to repair heads
  14. Here is some information I had after doing the DCCD switches. Not inclusive so make sure you MEASURE, MEASURE, MEASURE The hole closest to the brake lever, had to be 1 1/4 inches to the right of the brake lever because of stuff underneath. Then I had to worry about the space above them because of the roll top door on the cup holders. When I cut it with the dremel and pushed the first switch in, it was right up against the stuff underneath that was 1 1/4 in. I barely got it right.
  15. Anyone that has done the 6 speed swap and maybe a clutchmasters clutch have to adjust the pedal under the dash after the swap?
  16. See NSFW 6 speed thread, OP http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/nsfws-6mt-swap-thread-143520.html
  17. I measured the back side of the STI switches, and maybe even traced around them with a pencil and then cut. If you do it right they snap right in the holes. Just be careful where you cut the holes. Make sure you look at the back of the console first as there is stuff back there. They barely fit and you have to be precise. Good luck!
  18. I have an Outback XT and used a 4EAT driveshaft out of a legacy 2.5i
  19. Yes they will!!!!! Ill post a pic here in a bit You just have to take the console out and look at the underside of this area. There are some things on the underside but just enough space to put them there. I measured a dozen times and then cut the holes with a dremel after covering the area with duct tape. Pulled tape off and they snapped right into place
  20. I don't have any pics but swapping transmissions on the 25th so I can take some then. Mine is below the radio but on top of airbag (?) module. May be the same place as hammers Can't remember. Anyway that is a good spot. As it is close to wires going down the hole to the transmission and also close for the g-force sensor that has to be in the center of car under the console.
