  1. It's all good under the hood:cool: I have the low-end grunt and the glorious sound of the intake, not just one or the other. So future reference to anyone getting the tune, if you got the Takeda intake specify that to Matt. Hmm. I waited a few days for him to get back to me, understandably due to the weekend. 2 weeks seems like a bit much. Maybe he's having to do some tweaking on it for you, idk.
  2. I've got Pirelli P Zero Nero A/S, but on WRX wheels in 255/45/18. When they wear out I'll get either the new Pirelli P Zero A/S Plus or Conti DWS06 depending on which has the better rebate on Tire Rack at that time. In stock 225/50 size I'd go with the DWS06 no doubt, the price is right and I only ever hear good things about them.
  3. Just received an email from Matt with a revised tune. Will report back tomorrow after driving with the butt dyno findings:p
  4. Ahh gotcha. I did the fuzzy logic reset after installing the intake and drove for a week with the intake before I had a chance to get on it while cruising back roads. I would think in a week's worth of driving at least an hour every day it'd have adjusted to the intake. On stock intake with the tune after a reset it was back to normal. I'm currently running the Takeda with the stock tune to get a file to send over to Matt.
  5. Already swapped it back but that's a good idea. I'll see what he says and swap back if needed. Only takes like a half hour to swap it over so no biggie if I have to again.
  6. I just hit 22k miles today. I would hope spark plugs wouldn't need done this soon... Thanks for the suggestions! The consensus seems to be swap back to stock and reset. I'm working on that now. I shot an email over to Matt with a summary of what's going on and asking if my tune can be tweaked to accommodate the intake should it be the culprit. I'll report back with my findings.
  7. I have a problem...somehow I've lost all the low-end torque that I originally gained with the tune. Initially when I got it the amount of pull down low was incredible, combined with our touchy throttle it was hard to take-off smoothly. I eventually got used to this though, or so I thought. Turns out it wasn't me that changed but rather the car did. I was in manual mode on some back roads, and the impressive 3rd "gear" pull is gone. I ran a few 0-60's and I'm currently in the high 9-10 range. It was low-mid 8 range... I tried re-flashing the tune, thinking maybe the car was trying to revert back to its old ways...nothing changed, still dead down low. Here's what's different since I got the tune: -Started running 93 octane premium gas, currently on my second tank of it since tuning. I recall everything being normal after filling up with the first tank so I'm pretty sure this isn't the culprit. -Installed Takeda intake and did an ECU reset afterwards. When I did this my throttle tip-in changed from being right at the top to having a little bit of play. I assumed it was just a re-calibration from the reset but maybe there's something going on there. Any ideas? Should I switch back to the stock intake and do some testing to see if there's a difference? I contemplated about doing another ECU reset but wanted to see if anyone had some thoughts on the matter first. I just really want my power back!
  8. If it was 12 inches short you'd have a problem... It's 12 mm, that's barely anything. If it were a huge issue we'd all be having endlink failures, however as far as I know there has only been 1 reported failure and most likely it was a fluke/manufacturing defect. The endlinks are designed to pivot, it's not like an excessive amount of stress is being put on them in a direction they're not designed to take it in. If you're really that worried about it, keep it stock.
  9. White? It's polished metal. http://i.imgur.com/ehrMS77.jpg However if you're looking for something a little more subdued, SSD offers theirs in black. http://ssdsubaru.blogspot.com/
  10. I have some, one is curbed but the other 3 are pristine. I'm in Ohio though and shipping wheels/tires is expen$ive. If you wanna work some numbers PM me, but your best bet would be find some within driving distance.
  11. Anyone with the tune have an SSD or Takeda intake? If so did you notice a difference after installing? Why did you pick one over the other? aFe claims 7hp and 6lb-ft on their website
  12. I've officially joined the tuned club:cool: Here's my observations thus far: -Low end torque increase is definitely noticeable, especially right off the line. Our throttle is touchy as is and now it's eager to jump up and move so my foot's gonna have to do a little relearning to get smooth starts lol. -Manual mode is way more usable. Cruising twisty roads I never had to downshift to second like I would before, 3rd has plenty of pull even at lower revs. -In terms of typical accelerating it doesn't feel noticeably different until I look down at the speedo and realize I'm going faster than expected. Not a bad thing at all, I was just use to knowing in my head X amount of throttle means X gain in speed so I gotta relearn that. When getting on it though it most definitely feels different. It's minor but there's more push-back-in-seat feeling. An impromptu 0-60 run timed with the Sprint Box app resulted in 9.0...I was confused. Threw it in manual mode and got 8.1 which seems more like it. I need to do a few runs in a row to get a more consistent number. I'm guessing 8-8.5 range based on the numbers reported in this thread. When my current tank runs out I'm going to put in 1/4 tank of premium and see what I can get best case scenario. Overall I'm pleased with the results. Huge thanks to Tigger for introducing us all on here to the idea of tuning a mundane family sedan. To all the haters, it's not about making a NA 4cyl into a rocket ship, it's making what we have the best it can be. Also...I sure hope that E85 tune becomes reality cause cheaper gas and more power is a win-win.
  13. Tactrix arrived today!! Found the read procedure in this thread and sent my stock tune over to TH. Hopefully he responds quickly cause I'm super stoked and feeling impatient:lol:
  14. Huh...thought it was limited by air drag at 129. At least that's what I remember reading. Fastest I've had it is 117.
  15. Just got a $200 check, depositing tomorrow and ordering my tactrix Now I just gotta save up for the tune itself...can't wait!
  16. If you're planning to swap suspension, check out the outback forum for wheel/tire setups. subaruoutback.org This is a sweet idea btw, can't wait to see how it turns out
  17. I have E85 available across the parking lot from my work...and it's cheap.....what's the best way to get ahold of Matt? If E85 is in the near future I think I'm gonna join the tune club:cool:
  18. I did mine while lifted. After a short drive everything settled and haven't had an issue. If you want to do it while loaded find a curb to back up onto. Preferably in an empty parking lot so you're not blocking a road:lol: Or find a friend with some ramps or get some scrap wood and make your own ramps.
  19. Those look sweet! And yeah that's why I went as wide as possible at 255/45-18, I curbed my one stock wheel and almost cried so I wanted to be super safe with my WRX ones:lol:
  20. Nice! Going with wider 245-255 tires on those wheels would've been perfectly fine though since they're an inch wider:cool:
  21. ^^Sway bar is totally recommended, 19mm here, so long understeer. Really tho for the price it makes a big impact. I still wanna know what this looks like: http://www.subaruonlineparts.com/mobile/subaru-legacy-shift-knob-leather-p-4250.html 22 bucks for an sti shift knob, you bet I'd pay that!
  22. According to 1010tires the rim width range for a 245/45r18 tire is 7.5-9. Ideally you want to be in the middle of that range, so 8-8.5. If you want better grip, upgrading to a high performance tire will make a much bigger impact than 20mm extra width. Something like Pirelli P Zero A/S+, Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+, Continental DWS 06, etc. If you want maximum width possible 18x8.5 +55 wheels (like stock WRX) with 255/45r18 tires. That's the setup I've got.
  23. Nice to finally see a dedicated kit for the Legacy! No need to swap pins around or purchase resistors separately. Think you could come up with a way to make these stupid fake things actually light up as tail lights? http://i.imgur.com/vmBVO2B.jpg?1
  24. I used that for a little until I came across this: http://www.wheel-size.com/calc/ Even more detailed as it lets you specify fender and strut clearances to ensure things won't rub.
  25. Awesome deal man!! Altho I'm kinda jealous cause I paid WAYYY more for mine:spin::lol: I recommend 255/45/18, it's 1cm wider and a tiny bit taller than 245/45. No rubbing and fitment is nice and flush. Here's a comparison of stock vs 245/45 vs 255/45 http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Tire-Size-Calculator/225-50R18/245-45R18/255-45R18 http://i.imgur.com/mHxs03H.jpg
