  1. Probably the OP means this: https://www.amazon.com/Reliance-Products-Luggable-Portable-Gallon/dp/B000FIAPXO
  2. The service manager must have a college tuition payment due soon. You will be paying (for no good reason) for his kid to attend.
  3. Make sure that the "lifetime" warranty does not require you to get every service at every recommended interval at the dealer. If you go that route, not only will you be liable to be beaten like a mule every time you show up for service, but also you will pay ridiculous prices for service you could get elsewhere for much less money
  4. Brake light switch. Had similar issues w/son's Impreza. Cheap ($ 15 or less) part and easy to change out. There was a recall for the part as well on some models & years, so check to see if your car is covered.
  5. I have not noticed an issue at highway speeds with my '16. The car is simply a reliable sedan. Nothing spectacular about the handling (good or bad) at any speed. Stability was improved on mine by junking the OEM tires, but even with the originals it was fine. To expect anything other than the handling of a non-premium sedan is unrealistic. The Legacy will never be a 3 series BMW! Then again, it was a hell of a lot cheaper.
  6. I have a '16 and I just don't agree that there is a problem with the car at high speed. It does track and turn much better with the OEM tires changed, but even with the ones that came on the car it was fine. My personal feeling is that the car is, in general, "OK. It is certainly not the best driving car I have ever had and is far from the worst. Expecting it to be something other than what it is: a general family sedan is not realistic.
  7. Personally, I would not go to the bother of installing an OEM NAV. Simply buy a GPS unit and stick it to the windshield. The Garmin in my Tacoma gives better directions, has more useful traffic info, displays better graphics, actually understands spoken addresses, and has lifetime free map updates. It was also 1/6th the cost of the NAV unit in my '16 Limited. The NAV unit is the most disappointing factor in my car and if I ever get another Subaru I will not get the NAV option. In addition when (IF) I get rid of the Tacoma, the GPS stays with me, not the truck.
  8. Will the NAV updates make the system any "better"? Here are the issues I have with the system in my '16: 1. Most often it cannot "understand" what I am saying for an address and I can only navigate via manual input 2. When speaking to me, the system will often cut off the first word, or phrase 3. When no destination is put into the system the screen does not show what exit is next (as does my Garmin) 4. When trying to set a location to be saved by using the tap screen, the location listed on the screen is nearby, but not at the exact location I am trying to waypoint. 5. Why can't (won't?) dealer do it. When I noted the above issues I was told that there was no fix.
  9. Another solution in search of a problem. I know where my feet are, know that I have shoes on, and don't need to look at the pedals. What is the point?
  10. 1. Screw Subaru and their "demand" that you use only OEM glass 2. Car manufactures always tell you to use only "genuine" parts. 3. If realignment was really necessary it would be paid for by your ins. co. 5. If Safelite screws up the eyesight they are liable and for me that means USAA would be part of the suit as Safelite is their recommended installer. 6. And FYI they also recommend nothing be placed on the glass between the lenses. My EZPasss has been there for over 2 years since car was new-Guess what, no problems
  11. I buy the cheapest "no name shit from the budget station" because it is the same shit as you get from the name brand stations. Gas is gas!
  12. I am a long way from "needing" new tires, but am not especially happy with the Goodyear LS2s that came as OEM on my 16 Limited. They are OK, but not up to what I would consider a good tire for winter travel. Even here in NH I only buy all season type tires as with AWD they have always seemed suficient for my needs. Last year we had little snow so it was not a good test of the tires, but the few times I was in snow of less than 6" I did not feel comfortable with the LS2s. I guess its because the Legacy has a real goofy tire size of 225/50/18 that there are really not that many choices. I had Goodyear Triple Tread AS on my AWD Volvo for years and would buy again, but they are not made in the Legacy size. So, more for curiosity sake at this point, I am wondering what replacement tire most are buying.
  13. It would be better if the poll included a "none" category. I change my oil at 6k and have never seen the dipstick below full. The oil is also very clean. I suspect that not needing to add oil is the norm.
  14. I spoke with weathertech last month. The phone clerk told me that although they are made in the US the measuring and milling (CMC) for the molds is done at a plant in Germany. The molds are made from the German work and the parts are produced in the US. He said that so far they have no information regarding when (if?) the molds will be made in Germany. I bought a set of Subaru OEM vents via EBAY and the Subaru dealer in Claremont NH. The price with shipping was 60 dollars less than the retail price and $ 30 less than my local dealer price from where I bought the car (they were giving me a "special" price"). The vents arrived in a few days and installation was fairly easy. The instructions have to be downloaded from the web and are not that clear, but it was not too difficult. Amazon did have a knock off brand which was cheaper, but I did not like the look.
  15. I change my own oil, but use a change pump. I bought on ebay, but I don't know if this is the exact one I have: http://www.ebay.com/itm/12v-Oil-Fluid-Liquid-Extractor-4-0L-Boat-Car-Auto-Pump-Oil-Change-Pump-Kit-/381436236230?hash=item58cf5f11c6:g:j9IAAOSwwbdWHHFm&vxp=mtr Yes, it does leave a small amount of dirty oil in the pan, but then again so does any oil change. This is especially true when the oil change monkey at the dealer/lube shop is in a hurry and does not take the time to let it fully drain. When the pump starts sucking air I move the hose around a bit to get the most oil possible. I also have a waste container which has markings for quarts and based on that I get out about 98-99% of the old oil. Using the pump means I don't have to get under car and with the up top filter I have no mess. Yes, I am lazy, but this method works fine. I have used the pump for several years with several different vehicles.
