  1. There's a Tactrix for sale in the 5th gen classifieds if anyone is looking. http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/md-2013-wrx-aftermarket-part-out-259228.html
  2. Like tigger said treadwear is typically the main difference. Higher performance categories will typically get you better grip for high-speed cornering at the expense of wearing faster. If you go maximum attack on backroad twisties then you probably would be better off with something UHP. Whereas if you aren't pushing to the limit on every corner chances are you'd appreciate the longer life of GT, especially the Pirelli P7's high treadwear. Either way your car will handle better than stock and probably be quieter too.

  4. Just checked one Friday while at the dealer with my parents, there's a vertical strip of 3 LEDs on each side. Haven't seen one with them on but they looked nice. Could definitely retrofit them or something similar on a Legacy without fog lights, as the blank out plates are a perfect candidate to cut and mouth LED strips in based on their shape.
  5. $150-175 at a small local shop. I'll post up the final price plus pics when it's done.
  6. It probably could, but do you want to leave your car idling for a half hour or more? I don't remember the exact time but I know I wouldn't want to sit and waste gas the whole time. If you don't have a battery charger see if you can borrow one from a friend or consider picking up a cheap one off Amazon or maybe even check Craigslist.
  7. I assume you're referring to Rallyarmor, which yes they are $$$. I love mine and they work great. Could get the RA basic ones which run like 30 bucks but you have to come up with hardware yourself. OEM splash guards are also an option. They work fine for stock wheel/tire setups but going wider and flush has a tendency to splatter all down the side, even past the guards.
  8. Got an appointment for Wednesday to get it done, can't wait:cool:
  9. I pulled off my muffler and drove around to see how it sounds, it's not obnoxiously loud but it's definitely noticeable. Biggest thing for me is drone on the highway, at 77mph you can hear it but with the fan and radio on it's not bothersome at all. In short, I'm gonna go dual tip muffler delete. I have a feeling that adding a muffler will take out too much of the nice rumble, and especially the crackling and popping. Good news is it's gonna be cheaper not having to buy mufflers. I'd suggest you try pulling yours off just to hear it. It's super easy only took like 10 mins. If it's too loud, put it back on, find a cheap magnaflow on Craigslist, and get it added on. Really all you can do is experiment for yourself as videos really don't do justice to exhaust loudness. I listened to a few delete videos and thought it was gonna be wayyy too loud but turns out it's not in person.
  10. I may someday, easy cleaning sure is appealing:lol: Thanks for the suggestion, I'll definitely look at ceramic when the time comes.
  11. Won't know til you try it:cool: I say go for it, do one or both on a side to get a feel for it and if you like it do the others. I highly recommend using plastidip glossifier over the white as it gives a smoother surface and helps dirt come off easier. My car is Twilight Blue and these are WRX wheels but this is what white plastidip looks like. Just FYI tho it's a dirt magnet:lol: http://i.imgur.com/y5n02qU.jpg
  12. My friend just had a muffler delete done on his BMW at a local hole in the wall shop. They did a great job and the price was super reasonable so I'm thinking about taking my car there to finally get dual exhaust. Looking at Magnaflow 12226 mufflers. From what I've heard they add a nice bit of rumble without being obnoxious which is my goal. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Magnaflow-12226-Stainless-Steel-2-5-Oval-Muffler-5x8-20-Long-14-Body-/182387390857?hash=item2a7722b989:g:3P0AAOSwux5YT3ip&vxp=mtr Possibly going in Friday to have him put my car on the lift and take a look at it.
  13. I'm curious about this as well. When it comes to deep snow, low is a no-go. Strut top spacers would be an option to regain some height.
  14. They do, major improvement over stock. Much better investment than putting LEDs in stock housings imo.
  15. Well duh...I didn't even think of that:lol: you're right, "base" pkg 21 model Limiteds have standard fog lights meaning they use the stalk mounted switch, but no EyeSight and therefore no SRF. So your solution is in this mess of a wiring diagram that I'm too tired to attempt to comprehend at the moment. http://i.imgur.com/ocdAaNY.png
  16. Height adjustable with a screwdriver. Plastic underbody panel right below fog drops down with 4 clips and provides access.
  17. 2018 STI will indeed have 19s, and they look good. http://www.media.subaru.com/pressrelease/1067/1/subaru-debuts-2018-wrx-wrx-sti-performance-comfort
  18. Here's what the FSM says: http://i.imgur.com/9QVLtJk.png So we go here: http://i.imgur.com/CEjfzCV.png Don't rip everything to pieces like it says, just drop the lower dash panel: http://i.imgur.com/DHyAZrQ.jpg And the control module is this: http://i.imgur.com/JT7Eky6.jpg I unplugged it, started the car, and immediately got "SRF OFF" on the dash. Fog lights would not work. Plugged it back in, fog lights work. So it cannot be unplugged without disabling fogs completely. So more digging brought me to these diagrams: http://i.imgur.com/dgO8ums.png http://i.imgur.com/eodVIsL.png I would start with the fuses, pull 1 at a time and see what happens. Presumably the 2 under the hood are for each respective fog light. Another thing to try would be tie wires 3 and 10 together to connect the outputs in parallel. But chances are that would just make both fogs activate when steering rather than just the one. Since there is no obvious connection for the steering angle sensor the communication is going over the CAN system. Removing 1 or both of those might do the trick. I'm really not interested in hacking up my car for the sake of something I'm not personally interested in, but I thought I'd get this information out there for anyone who wants to attempt it on their own. Typically the factory connectors have pins that are removable, so I would look at pulling the pin out to disconnect for testing purposes before straight up cutting wires.
  19. ^^That's good to hear. At my last change I burned exactly a quart over 6k. So long as it stays consistent I'm ok with it. Easiest way to track at home is mark a line on the jug when full and keep it until the next change. Drain the dirty oil back into it and compare. With the Fumoto valve I just shove a hose on the end and run it straight to the jug.
  20. I did some digging in the FSM, there's a SRF control module located behind the relay pack under the dash. It's possible that unplugging that may disable them. It may disable the fogs completely though.

  22. ^^I believe that's right. I have one without a tire, I've been meaning to throw it on a scale for the heck of it.
