  1. My KYB struts for 2013 3.6R did not seem noticeably stiffer. The springs from the 2013 3.6R are stiffer for sure; like the car should have had stock. If you want sporty, get stiffer springs. If you want it to not handle like a life raft, the 2013 springs should be fine.
  2. If you have the OEM catback you may want to replace the donut gasket... or not. I forgot to get a new one when I did mine and the old one did not leak so I didn't replace it.
  3. +1 for Lathewerks! My fiance got me the STI stainless sphere with the blue finish. It's a rather subtle classy blue; I'm so happy with it. It's the only part of my car that I semi-regularly get compliments on. I think you'll end up paying at least 100$ for a good non-OEM one anyways.
  4. True that. It's odd for me to watch the others with trouble since mine has been fine. It makes sense to me that the design might flow too well, and that introducing a restriction could help to remedy overboost.
  5. They look kinda like my Q300 tips, but with carbon fiber added on
  6. well it's easy to check if it's broken, and like a $5 fix to do it yourself. If the dealer does it, they'll use oem parts and those might break again. If you do it, you'll use parts that'll last forever... so your call.
  7. That's what I was thinking. The size of the tube is much larger than the waste gate and it's pretty short. I just don't see it being the limiting factor. Besides, isn't the turbo spun mostly off of thermal expansion? That would mean you wouldn't need a real big leak to relieve it.
  8. I have the Q300, Grimmspeed EBCS, stock turbo non-ported. Phoenix is at about 1100' I wasn't overboosting before the catback, now I'll hit 19.5 psi sometimes. My target is 18. I'm hopeful that it can be dialed in with a re-tune since it was fine before.
  9. I wonder if that will change the exhaust sound since it's 4-2-1 differently from the stock one.
  10. Well I'll start you off easy: the best value physical mod I've done is the Perrin brass shifter bushing for around $25. It is listed as being for the 2015 WRX but it does fit our cars. Some other brands make the same thing too.
  11. Congrats and welcome! Looks like you have the same car I do. Do you mod? I only ask so that we can start enabling you...
  12. I didn't have to cut off or remove any heat shields to install my dp.
  13. Just remove the rear lower control arms. You'll probably end up having to anyways so just get them out of the way and make it easier on yourself.
  14. I disagree on that. I replaced my stock 2010 springs and shocks with brand new ones for a 2013 3.6R recently. I would say it's like going from a gross squishy Cadillac sedan to a slightly sporty trim family sedan. I could probably go stiffer, but it's nice that I don't have to fear speed bumps.
  15. I may have described that poorly. It started out with two threads finger-tightened, then I went at it with a socket and got the nut all the way on before it seemed tight enough. No leaks that I know of, but the bolts really seem like they should be a quarter of an inch longer. With my Q300 the bolts are plenty long... but that's without the adapter.
  16. I don't know how it is up there, but in AZ the braking systems in commercial vehicles must be inspected on a weekly basis. This means making sure that the brakes on every wheel work. Definitely get the maintenance logs, and if they refuse to give them just mention that you'll be getting them via discovery if you have to sue.
  17. I reused my donut gasket and did not have any issues. IIRC, I used the bolts that came with the adapter, but they were only barely long enough, like I could only get them started with 2 threads and then hope for the best.
  18. The N1 is supposedly very loud, the Q300 is supposed to be quieter. Check out this thread for lots of info and clips: http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/5th-gen-exhaust-236990.html
  19. axelback by nameless performance or megan. alternatively you can do any of the dual can catbacks for the gt/3.6r if you're willing to get a couple of hangers welded on. check this out too: http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/5th-gen-exhaust-236990.html Also, you'll find a lot more info in the fifth gen section.
  20. Nameless Performance IIRC they have a cat back and axel backs for the sixth gen.
  21. I think he was serious. Your post added to the discussion.
  22. If you're going to be welding on pipe anyways, why not fab the whole thing? Mufflers + Tubing has got to be cheaper. The way I see it a big part of what you'd be paying for in a pre made exhaust is that you dont have to make it. That said, I love the sound of my buddie's 09 WRX with SPT cat back, I'd like to hear it on one of our cars.
  23. The 2008 WRX cat back is not a direct fit. I remember someone posting about having to extend the flange.
  24. Do you have one of those? I'm a little unclear what else I would need to get to get it to work with my Garmin or AP or whatever
