  1. 2 or 3 years ago the clutch release bearing died while my wife was driving it and it was hell getting the right bearing from a parts store. I kept getting the wrong bearing and of course it was Christmas Eve so I wasn’t able to track down the right one till the day after Christmas. Fast forward to now, the bearing is making some noise and the clutch has never been great so I’m going to replace the whole thing. Does anyone know if there are 2 different types of bearings on these? The car was switched over to a single mass flywheel before I bought it so I’m not sure if that’s why I struggled with finding the right part.
  2. Cleaning out the evaporator isn’t too bad. Removing the expansion valve isn’t too difficult and if you replace it go oem denso. I agree that you should replace all the orings especially if you are going this far. It’s really not difficult to do all this.
  3. Flight is booked for November. I pulled out my old tooning laptop and launched access tuner race which loaded with all the good options still intact. It prompted me to update but I chose the efff noooo option and turned Wi-Fi off. Worst case, I have all the revisions of my tooning on there including a Cobb stage 2 91 that’s just scaled for the 850’s. I’ll run that and as long as the learning view looks good in the cruise cells and if not I’ll make adjustments just to get it home. I was informed the car has brand new tires on it that haven’t even seen the road yet and I also ordered a couple of oem gaskets and sent them to my parents house just in case. What could go wrong lol
  4. It used to work on my nexus 7 with timurs rom installed, then would only occasionally work then not at all. Bought a new splitter still didn’t work. Who knows.
  5. I’ll have to order one to verify my old nexus 7 isn’t the issue then I guess order a few y adapters and find which one works
  6. Do you have any info on the adapter? And if there are charging options that will work?
  7. Legally yes it needs to be recovered. The only way to know how much is in the system is to remove all of it from the system usually with a solvent specifically for cleaning it out. Most auto parts stores stock a can of solvent and autozone even has a tool you can rent to do it then you will blow the lines out with compressed air and technically you should replace the condenser because you really can’t clean it out and there is a dissicant that will absorb moisture in the system. Draining oil from the compressor is really simple just give that a quick google then add oil. Check the fsm but you will add a few ounces to the evaporator and a few to the condenser and the rest in the compressor. When you charge it, make sure you do it by weight, not off of a cheap refill kit with a gauge that you just squeeze the trigger till it’s green or an r-134a chart. Refrigerant on a scale till you hit the specified capacity.
  8. This changed everything for the better for me. I live in Phoenix so any defects in an air conditioner will have you pretty uncomfortable.
  9. 100%. I considered making delete plates to try and go no rail but I don’t think I’m that ambitious
  10. We did paint and body in our shop and a proper color change was far more the undertaking than I even imagined. I looked down on stuff like plasti dip but when wrap came along I was a lot more intrigued at changing the color by putting stickers on the car. Roll of vinyl was like $600 which is a hell of a price for a color change then I realized how difficult it was lol. Also yes I believe that’s the video but I could have sworn there was one of them doing the roof, I distinctly remember them removing the rails.
  11. The cost to get these things back on the road is getting more and more expensive every single year. It’s almost 3x more expensive than it was when I got into the ynasb game which is probably why I actually saw a few lgts and obxt’s in the salvage yard when I went home. Why pay $8k to put a motor in a 20yr old car when it’s not even worth that.
  12. I’ve also considered wrapping my obxt then I look at all the pieces and curves and flares and remind myself that it’s far more difficult than I remember lol. It’s one of those jobs where once you’re far enough into it that there’s no turning back and you start wondering “why am I hurting myself” “f$;) this I’ll never do it again” and “how much antifreeze do I need to drink again?”. There is a video of someone wrapping either an ob or leg on YouTube somewhere in green if I remember correctly. The roof actually didn’t look too difficult.
  13. Are you wrapping or or having it wrapped? That’s a much bigger bitch than it looks lol. That front bumper is going to be a challenge
  14. I had stash I was throwing money into every month for a 6sp dccd swap on my outback and was just about saved up for it. I drained this account for that but ironically I still bought a dccd 6sp lol
  15. Just pulled the trigger. My plan is to pull off the ole turn and burn. I’m going to fly to Wyoming and throw the original motor in and stay a day shaking it down and visiting then I’m going to drive back to az (13hrs). Buddy who is selling me the car said I could use his shop and I know I can have it back together in a few short hrs. I’m going to load the car with parts and throw the other motor on a pallet and have it shipped to me. Any guesses on what I paid???
  16. Welcome to my world lol. I haven’t been able to get btssm to work on my nexus 7 for a while now. I get the same error, tried new cables, factory reset the tablet and re-installed the app and still the same thing. I figured it was my tablet
  17. I’m guessing no since the marketplace ad is still up. Would like to know why though
  18. Hit me up anytime. It’s really not that difficult, but brand new oem parts were $$$$$. If that’s your goal id find a good front end in a salvage yard and drill and cut out the core support and grab everything else you can. It’s just a matter of removing the existing support and squaring up and welding in the new one, paint and start bolting things up.
  19. as you can see here when I did the Hawkeyes conversion I welded in the proper core support. 100% oem parts
  20. Not a fan of the blacked out headlights or the “stance” but will be easy enough to fix.
  21. Yeah I think that’s the plan. I have regretted selling this for a while now. He would let me borrow it when I would visit and refused to sell it back to me. I could fly down and throw the original motor back in it, but I’d rather not have to store anything over there. That and I have a stand up jetski I really need to bring back that’s there as well that would probably love to see water again. And this is far beyond the scope of a good deal. There are beat up trashed clapped out wrx’s going for quite a bit more than what I’m getting this for.
