  1. The entire exhaust system does NOT have to be removed to replace that gasket. There are several ways to go about it, if your car has the catted up-pipe (not sure what years did or didn’t have this), now would be a good opportunity to to a catless. Im sure others will chime in, but I’ve had good luck with the factory gaskets.
  2. I’d assume that little roll pin that you can see in the left picture is either missing, worn or broken. I’m not 100% sure but I’d be willing to bet that retains the flapper assembly into the turbine housing. Are they the same turbo and is your old turbine housing in good shape? If it is I’d swap them. Easy peasy
  3. I wonder how they would get an outback to be 400lbs lighter?? That’s pretty substantial, and from what I’ve seen, there isn’t exactly a lot of non essential weight randomly bolted to the car! I’m having a bit of a hard time choosing a rear spring. I’m not fully agains the king rears but it looks like most the people running that setup use a 3/4” spacer in the front to level it out and I’d really rather it be the other way around which has me leaning on using the lgt wagon springs.
  4. Most of the setups I’m seeing with the king rear springs and the lgt fronts have a slight raked look and It’s not really doing it for me. Like the rear needs to be dropped down.
  5. I’ll look into that, it’s a bit of a mind trick lowering a car and buying lift springs
  6. I managed to get a set of low mileage lgt sedan struts from a forum member, I have some other parts rolling in here shortly for the drop including kca399 bushings. Am I better off ordering a set of lgt wagon rear springs or will I be fine with spacers?
  7. Oem or aftermarket housings? They look fantastic, mine are in horrible shape and I have a similar project in mind
  8. Febreze Mee, just out of curiosity, did you do your own headlights?
  9. this sold me on just going lgt springs. Sorry to hear about the accident, red and black are by far my favorite colors these cars come in. As far as suspension settling over time, its my experience that this is the case with just about everything. Sometimes i get these 140+K mile vehicles in on original suspension and do pre-loaded strut assemblies all around and occasionally you have to explain why the car sits higher than before. Ill definitely be looking into the whiteline camber correction and possibly some other form of adjustment.
  10. I just ended up with the car after we got my wife a new one and sold my truck. Car has a new motor, bnr 16g, clutch and a bunch of other stuff thats about 15,000 miles old and it feels wrong to get rid of it after that. If i had a goal, id say its a pre midlife crisis pipe dream that can carry my kids. The suspension is thrashed and shows every bit of its 155,000 mile age and is getting to the point of being downright sketchy while going down the interstate. When we lived in wyoming and it was my wifes car, the setup was perfect. but now we live in phoenix and id like the car to be a little closer to what my 2005 sti felt like. As far as budget goes, where id like to not go past is the $5-600 mark granted this is just a goal and i should include that i already have the sway bar and bushings collecting dust in the garage and are not included in that budget. as far as goal on drop, 2 inches sound great but the child in me wants just a touch more. Honestly itd probably be plenty and i should really just stop there. when we were in wyoming, access to lgt parts cars was huge! but here, you dont even see anything accept wrx's and sti's driving around otherwise id be all over ditching the outback lift the right way
  11. Hey all, i have a few questions about lowering my 05 outback xt limited that i was hoping to square away. Im trying to source complete lgt struts right now but im also trying to look into other options, one of which being the kyb excel-g. My question is will my obxt upper spring seats and top hats work with lgt springs? Also are there options for a touch more drop than the stock lgt springs that wont require me getting too crazy with swapping stuff to get alignment correct? My current plan was to use lgt struts/springs and the rear upper control arms, new ball joints and whiteline front control arm bushings and a whiteline rear sway bar.
  12. I am a little worried about that. I’m 85381 Peoria az
  13. I’m switching from outback xt to legacy gt suspension
  14. SOLD I figure its a long shot, especially since suspension seems to fly off the pages but im looking for a set of preferably oem Legacy Gt struts.
  15. Yes, compressor is functioning. After an idle relearn it’s idling up like normal, however after some diagnostics and help from the guys on the auto ac forums I’ve come to the conclusion that the compressor is on its last leg. Anyone have a recommendation for finding a replacement?
  16. Can anyone verify idle speed with ac on? My 2005 outback xt is having some ac issues and I just realized that my idle doesn’t increase when the ac kicks on. Possibly needs an idle relearn?
  17. Hey, I’m embarrassed to admit that I’m not computer savvy enough to get my laptop set up properly to use my tactrix. I had no problems with using access tuner but that was a whole different ballgame. I was hoping there might be someone in the phoenix area that might be able to lend me a hand on getting the ole computer set up to connect. Will supply beer!
