  1. Nothing - forged pistons are better than stock POS pistons! That's what I've read
  2. That is exactly what I mean, form the pictures it looks like it could be a tiny screw. Great news all around
  3. Is that a screw that popped out or a chunk? Those don't look like safety Torx plus
  4. Check this out - http://www.mcmaster.com/#drive-sockets/=5xh72w
  5. +1 I have a full set of Torx Plus tamper-resistant bits
  6. At some point, if there are no blockages, nothing wrong with the oiling system and no electronic problem, the likely culprit if the gear itself. I suppose if you took the gear off and apart it may hold some clues, but the odds aer it will look just fine. Unfortunately you won't really be able to tell until you replace the parts, put the engine back together and put it back in the car. BTW, what kind of oil were you using when this all happened? and what OCI? I hope you sort it out soon.
  7. SPOTTED!!!! I literally ran into Bosco in person at the Chicago Auto show at the Subaru display BTW, no Legacy GTs on display because Subaru just doesn't care about them
  8. There is no question that Subaru's knock control system is excellent. The interesting question is the one that is almost impossible to answer unless you can see the piston when it breaks - is the failure due to too much MaD PoWEr or due to knock, wit a turbo engine the answer is almost invariably knock.
  9. Nice summary, but anybody that actually has taken the time to educate themselves about this topic knows the facts. Most people don't care because we all know that FORGED PISTONS ARE BETTER AND MAKE YOU A BETTER PERSON
  10. You already said that I don't know How about hot fuel lines and brake lines?
  11. That analogy is a little off Great info - I am working on heating up my battery, fuel lines and brake lines - just think of how fast my car will be Let's hear more about SAE correction to drag times.
  12. ^^^ You have to take the ice our of the bag.
  13. You use SAE corrections for 1/4 mile results - Well I guess you learn something new every day
  14. I believe that you said driving around dumping bags of ice on your intercooler was not practical Thanks for the compliment but it is a little broad. I did remember one thing that is more annoying than bogus claims about a car's performance - using made up altitude correction numbers
  15. Anybody who drives through the water box doesn't know what they are doing and shouldn't be at the track in the first place. Also, people not only yell at those asshats, but they threaten them as well. Also, nothing is better than people claiming their great times that have no relationship to what the car actually can do.
  16. No question about that - stopping every few minutes to sit with waiting for the bag full of ice you dumped on top of your engine to melt sees a lot easier and a whole lot more practical. BTW, if you dripped any water at the starting line where I usually go you would definitely not have a nice day at the track.
  17. Actually take the ice and put it in your cooler and run your car like and actual car
  18. 1. Power 2. Ground 3. MAF Signal 4. Temp Signal 5. Groound
  19. These are the fastest ones You read about 12 second stock legacies all of the time but bench racing is a little different from actually being able to do it
  20. http://www.bobthesparkplugguy.com Send away for a spark plug analysis after a few thousand miles Use stock heat range plugs.
  21. I don't know - I have done several spark plug changes on LGT's and the one I did today (on an Outback XT), was a (%*^$#($ and a half. There is absolutely no way that the rear coil packs were going to come out . I ended up taking off the engine mount bolts and the pitch stopper, jacking up the engine an inch or 2 and did the swap in about 10 minutes
  22. I have that transmission jack and it does the job very well.
