i just know that when i go to installing the spring and then into the car im going to nick it on something. *crossing my fingers that it doesnt happen. But its unlike its a show-off factor. No ones going to really see the yellow. Its just me knowing that its under there and yes also nice to know someone's out there doing the same mod too. I doubt theres many of us left who are doing this.

+1 fully agreed. 5th gen was also uninspiring in the looks department sorry to say, typical toyota on another note, cut and drilled the bottom hole on my shock bodies. As suggested from others before, had i had a pipe cutter that would have been eons easier. The hacksaw works but you need alow of elbow grease. I ended up using my dremel and a cut-off wheel to do the rest after i cut a groove with the hacksaw. Got a coat of anti-rust on it right now and waiting for some duplicolor adhesion promotor and school bus yellow to come in the mail before giving this its final coat. Im guessing it will likely chip off but if the overall can stay yellow that will be cool. For vanity's sake. any usage for the internals/internal tube of these shock bodies? Or should i just chuck them?

Cadillac ATS Brembo Caliper Upgrade for your Subaru
kaitanium replied to LatentWagen's topic in Suspension/Brakes
personally still considering my options. It will be a bit of time, maybe next year till i even get to the point of starting on my brake mods. So only issue is the pad overhang? I assume the unworn edge starts rubbing on the edge of the rotor as the main surface of the pads wear down and can cause squeaking/noise? -
Cadillac ATS Brembo Caliper Upgrade for your Subaru

well considering what you said here: its not plug and play? Its more like plug, tinker a tad bit (but not to the extent of full custom mods), then play...compared to 04-07 sti brembos which from what im reading literally is plug and play. -

Very good info that you mention your spare tire fitting. Been wondering about this for any brembos. might have to pickup and store a spare 22mm spacer in the trunk when it comes time for me to do my brake upgrades. have an ob here too and still wavering back and forth to see if i want to do a sti 04-07 brembo upgrade or do the cadillac. Seems like in reading the caddys arent really 100% plug and play. -
I just cut the bottom hole a minute ago and like people said and like Lee from Koni said, No drama at all Just a tiny tiny little hiss (almost didn't notice it) when the drill poked through. Nothing dangerous. Just for future reference for other people doing it. This is on a brand new KYB strut. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

and on a separate note, if people are still reading this thread who are still running konis and all, what wheels, offset and tires are you running and especially for the fronts, what kind of gaps are you seeing from the spring perch? Seems like with outbacks at least, our stock 225/55/17 et48 tires/wheels give only 1mm clearance. Once i get these on my car i may have to buy 3mm spacers in the front just so i can get out of the shop on stock wheels and get home...

this is likely a long shot but im starting my search for one of these. ideally for the 4th gen wagons. I believe part number is 31019-AF019. If you have the axlebacks, let me know also as i may consider it too. Will consider the sedan versions too that have been sold here before (case and point https://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/ga-hks-silent-hi-power-mufflers-255037.html)

been doing some research since my post. seems like 15+ wrx catbacks bolt up relatively nicely to the wagons at least except for the muffler hangers. Some have reported that it may hit the rear sway bar, some have not. Not sure about sedans.
-
im also curious about this question but doing the opposite of the OP. seeing if/which 2008+ wrx exhaust would get me closest to fitting on our wagons. If i can nab a dual outlet exhaust that gets me close, an exhaust shop can take over the rest of the way with fitment. Questions like "does the Y pipe to the mufflers to split wide enough for our wagons?" or "i assume length and muffler hangers are the only issues if the Y pipe isnt?" namely looking at an invidia n1. Wanting a different look in the back of the car and since i dont have cutouts that hide parts of the exhaust on my obxt, muffler deletes would look a bit funny imho from the side. Currently have the 1st generation nameless muffler deleted axlebacks. Those are ok as those are hidden but now want something that sort of keeps the rumble but is also more visible in the style of the n1 or hks hipower, etc.

anyone looking to let go of their konis (4th gen legacy)? lets chat. Thanks!

Yea I've researched it all. Likely will do bc racing coils as lgt seems to be too low to give me much tire options to play with. Plus if I get any fitment issues, I have adjustability compared to stock lgt I don't. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

Just wondering in general. I plan to lower a bit either on coilovers or a LGT swap (might be too much low) and seeing if theres a way to reuse the stock OB springs without spending $ on LGT springs. Looks like in asking around, its advised not to do it.
-
Has anyone ever put outback springs in LGT struts? I read around in the lowering outback thread but the person that mentioned doing it I assume is no longer here as my PMs have gone unanswered for months. I assume outback springs are longer for their stock ride height but unsure about mechanics or physics when you put it into a strut body thats designed for something shorter?

oh yea i remember you saying all this before. thanks!
