  1. i forgot to mention that i had the ac going also during that long 45min highway climb in 100 degree weather. maybe thats why temps went past that usual mid point.
  2. gotcha. i was just exaggerating a bit. Someone once told me that these engines dont mind running high revs but they are susceptible to heat. Not sure if thats an accurate generalization or not. I do see my temp guage go up when doing long highway climbs/grades. i assume with 245/40 you are rolled/cut? (if lowered)?
  3. oh yea forgot you had the 6mt. I guess that helps. Im hoping my revs wont be at 4k if i do my road trips on 235/45s. btw, who did the conversion for your again? Or did you do yourself? I remember you were in norcal before. Hoping to find a shop here that knows what they are doing. I never have any clue who to go to for my larger mods that i cant do myself. Whats your spare tire like? stock? Your info gives me confidence to make the go ahead with those raijins! Enkei said ~2mm clearance but you are saying "plenty" so hoping enkei is just being conservative. Thanks!
  4. hey man, with those raijins and the 235/45 what do you think about highway cruising rpm? and at your height are your rolled/cut to avoid rubbing? i assume with your shocks you are slightly lower than stock Thinking about if i should stick with 225/50 or do a slightly wider 235/45 on those raijins when i drop on bc racing coils and trying to avoid cutting anything to preserve resale. Raijins because i want to add brembo fronts in the future and it seems like they are the few 18x8s that look good from enkei that will clear. [edit]: enkei reporting the 18x8, 5x100, et45 give only 2mm clearance for big brakes.Thoughts?
  5. Good info about the AOS. Ill look into grimspeed's yea read about intakes not necessary. i probably wont do it given my engine is stock. Just wanted to know for my own future info.
  6. Has anyone had any issues with smog checks lately while leaving their "carb legal" intake on during a smog check? Friend failed his smog at 2 locations because he had a AOS (perfectly legal according to CA law) so it has me concerned about other supposedly "legal" parts. Been doing mostly aesthetics and driveability mods so far and eventually want to put a catback exhaust on too and anything else that would max out legality. Guess this really depends on the smog tester when doing visual i presume
  7. nice, thanks for that clarification. This pic also clears it all up for me, matched up to yours. https://legacygt.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=86577&d=1277258513 Thanks! Ill report back once i figure out how to check the pressure. maybe while im down there (if i need to fix anything), ill go ahead and take out my banjo filter too. I assume i see it in your photo just left of the attachment for the solenoid...might be different on my 08.
  8. trying to wrap my head around where that "black plastic piece" is in relation to this pic: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/hAoAAOSwTzRc8cQ0/s-l1600.jpg I guess it doesnt matter. I can just buy a whole new pump and be ok if im understanding right.
  9. getting reports that there is no sensor in there
  10. bummer. Yea, CA is CA proud of their nonsense. was this the pump that im seeing that was recalled awhile back? https://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/air-pump-recall-07-09-legacy-outback-turbos-and-more-257176.html https://repairpal.com/recall/16V738000 This part i assume? https://www.ebay.com/itm/2007-2009-Subaru-Outback-XT-air-pump-/323822489545?_trksid=p2385738.m4383.l4275.c10 Would you know if a OBD can verify if this is broken or not? I do have the torque app but not sure if it would verify anything for me.
  11. i probably dont want to delete anything unless for good reason, if its useless and its ok staying in there then i rather leave it. I dont want to do anything to the engine really because of CA smog laws. Even if this doesnt affect smog checks, smog centers here fail you for even a fully legal AOS which is mind blowing. but you said the barometric sensor could be broken, i assume ill just need to replace that if i can replace it....and if i can find it. SOunds like its a pricey part.
  12. hmm...good to know ill check it out. Where is this sensor located and how would i know it failed?
  13. update: preferrably outback versions but will consider legacy.
  14. so what offset are your wheels with the spacers? im not sure what stock sti wheel offset is...50 or 55? I wish i could pull myself to run 245/40. Seems like that would work the engine a bit harder on highway cruising. Might have to settle for a 225/50 or so on 18s. Maybe a 235...
  15. Any rub with that setup? Did you cut fenders or remove liners? Offset is pretty tucked right on those stock sti wheels? Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  16. sick! what wheels and tires you running?
  17. Dont want anything that has been tracked. Let me know what you have and mileage/usage/asking price (shipped+paypal) or if local (san francisco) we can deal. Thanks! 18. Had a chance to run the car for about 100miles. Still experiencing the rpm creep problem in the same way. Car feels like it pulls a tad stronger after the cleaning but rpm creep is still present when I'm in gear and slowing down. Ideas?
  19. i might just stick with the stock tire size and go 18in rims. Likely no rub issues. The tires cant poke out much beyond stock before hitting the fender (if lowered and you compress fully) if you dont roll/cut. ive always looked at the rota g-force or tarmac 3 as my idea wheels but i always keep coming back to quality issues. Better wheels do cost about 2x more. Case and point SSR GTV02 vs Rota Tarmac. These wheels mostly knock off most expensive Volks though. But then again, a billion people have rotas. I would love to pick wheeldudes mind to see how many issues hes had or hasnt had with his customers and rotas. Im hoping at some point enkei releases a wheel thats like the tarmac or gforce . Enkei TS9 might be an option for me.
  20. So just cleaned the camry and gave it some good mileage both on and off highway and wow, MAF cleaner fixed the problem. The little sensor on the MAF was pretty black. The cleaner cleaned it up right away. No more hesitation from the camry. Cleaned the Suby also, gave it a run around the block and it seemed like i dont get RPM creep anymore. Weird thing was that when I first put the MAF back on, my check engine lights came on, cruise control light was on, and "sport" mode was blinking. Had to shut the car off and on about 5x before everything was normal again. Threw the P0102 and P0113 error codes. I havent given the car the same mileage as the camry but I will at some point. Going around the block seemed to prove the MAF cleaner worked. My MAF sensor on the suby was also black with dirt. Ill report back again once i give the suby a good run.
  21. whoa didnt even know wheeldude was that close to us in fremont. We should both pull up to him at the same time and pick his brain haha. Only thing im not sure about are Rota wheels he seems to be popular for. Hoping they start flow forming their lineup otherwise Id always question the reliability of the car when i drive. Looks like a few have done it with the 245/45/18 setup which is what im aiming for. See ScoobySTi07's post above as one example, there are others also who run that size. I've probably asked hundreds of people myself already too and that size is totally doable as long as you dont slam your car. If you dont lower your car, that tire fits with no probs also. The more popular size is the 245/40/18 on coils or LGT struts from my research. Stock sized 225/50 or 235/50 tires you could probably slam your car more. Anyone feel free to correct me but this is what ive found out after asking tons of people on instagram and here on the forums too.
  22. Bumping this up to see what others have got. Sad to see these cars aging and waning interest!
  23. update, bought some MAF cleaner. Havent had a single ounce of time to use it yet. Will report back when I do, hopefully this weekend. Im wondering if the MAF in my camry also needs cleaning as 1 to 2nd shift are horribly laggy. Engine can be revving to 3k and still not shift to 2nd. Super annoying when getting out of a stop sign or light. When it does finally shift it jerk the car like crazy. Does MAF affect transmission shifts?
  24. still looking slick! Those are still the smaller sized 235/50 tires right? Unless you raised your car =)
  25. I just started noticing this this past month. When I'm rolling to a stop at a stop sign or red light, I clutch in, shifter is still in gear, rpm drops to a normal 900ish rpm but then immediately creeps back up to 1400ish on its own even with my foot still on the clutch pedal. I'm not on the accelerator pedal either (or even by accident for that matter). Once I come to a complete stop (shifter still in gear, foot still on clutch pedal) then the rpm drops to normal. If I throw the shifter into neutral and then slow to a stop with my foot on the clutch pedal then it's all normal and theres no uptick in rpm. 85k on the odo. Original clutch. No engine mods or tunes. Any idea what this is? Thanks! Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
