  1. I'd say that's gone bad! Mine looks like the rest of your dash most of the time, but gets shiny and a bit tacky in the heat I doubt mine would be covered by this. Oh, and stop futzing around with those shades and get one of these: http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/covercraft-uvs100-heat-shield-32991.html
  2. It'd be nice if people post photos of the problems that qualify for repair, and those that don't.
  3. See that's my concern - in the summer mine gets tacky and shiny (more shiny than tacky) but it's just likely going to progress, albeit at a rate slower than those in California or Florida, Texas.. wherever... I'd say a dash that gets tacky in the sun has already "failed" and should be warrantied.
  4. I wonder what the difference is... Does it get tacky/shiny when parked under the sun for a while?
  5. Bugger. I guess '05 Canadian Outbacks are now on the hit list. Got my notice today.
  6. Had a new windshield put in one day. Glass shop didn't know about the clips at the top of the a-pillars. I was expecting a bit of a urethane glass adhesive smell, but not the globs of silicone they glued the a-pillars back in place with
  7. So they broke something and didn't want to tell you and order the replacement part so they glued it back together?
  8. It looks like Subaru also has an official parts list now at parts.subaru.com
  9. Who sets valve clearances with a grinder? I guess he was too cheap/lazy to find the right bucket shims...
  10. I wasn't able to sense any problems when mine cooked exhaust valves in cyl 2 & 4, but the mechanic could tell. I guess because the change was so gradual I didn't notice. What else to do while in there? Christ, what isn't there to do. Want a copy of the Saunders invoice from my adventure? I did the clutch and catless up-pipe, new belts, various hoses, starter. Basically the bits that are hard to get to and wear out quickly. In hindsight I should have done the intake tube too.
  11. Jesus. I had less than half that in floor tile in mine and things were dicey...
  12. Which bezel are you looking for, exactly? If it's the OEM Navi bezel pictured in this thread, hop on over to subaruparts.com or your favorite vendor and look up P/N: 66060AG07B
  13. It looks to be in place just fine in the videos. He'll need to clean or replace the actuators.
  14. http://opposedforces.com/parts/legacy/us_b13/type_7/climate/heater_system/illustration_2/ Top actuator is for the mode: Motor-actuator mix, 72131AG11A Bottom one is for the air mix (temp): Motor-actuator mode, 72131AG24A Verify with dealer before buying the parts. My mode actuator did the same thing. I took it apart, cleaned it and lubed it with dielectric grease. Working fine now.
  15. Will this rack work OK on the Outback? I'm assuming that there aren't any wonky spacers between the rack and crossmember on the Outback and that it mounts to the crossmember in the same way it would on the Legacy. I know the U-Joint in the column is longer on the Outback due to the body spacers. How is steering feel with this rack? I find the OE rack to be a little too light and feel the car wanders too easily. I know the rack is quicker, but if the steering weight is higher I think that would help with straight-line tracking. Essentially I want it to feel "less boosted".
  16. I *think* my problem wasn't the dash itself, but rather a product on the dash. Can you post a picture of the dash after using the Goof-Off? That stuff scares me - I've used it to strip glues and other nasty stuff before. I wouldn't normally think to try it on the dash.
  17. I think it was some cleaner/protectant thing that went on too heavy and got tacky in the heat/sun. I haven't been getting those glossy spots recently. Google for Toyota or Nissan sticky dash - if yours looks like that then your only hope is a new dash.
  18. Mine no longer seems to be an issue, I think it was something I had on it. But if the dash itself is breaking down in the sun, heat and UV, then no product will work. You'll have to replace the dash.
  19. Crap, the 30mm is too big as well. And it's the smallest the store had.
  20. Just bought two bulbs marked "fits 3175" and they're too long for the map light. Should have gone with my gut feeling and bought the 30mm bulb.
  21. If the 2005 Outbacks have been recalled in the US, I'm surprised my Canadian model hasn't.
  22. I'm happy my Canadian '05 hasn't been recalled yet, but I'm also concerned that since the USDM model has, mine is fitted with a defective airbag.
