  1. Possible and feasible are very different things. It isn't going to happen. I'm pretty sure any sort of TCU hacking isn't going to happen since no one with disassembly experience cares enough to tackle it.
  2. The tcu won't let you downshift into 1st if you'll end up above redline. It will just beep.
  3. You'd only use 1st for engine braking when you are coming to a stop on a steep grade. I can't think of another reason. Regardless, it's fine. It's not going to hurt anything.
  4. Sounds like yours could just be knock. Have you logged at all? Knock count is only useful when you are logging it alongside rpm, load, etc.
  5. In my case, it is a similar noise that I get while switching between vents, but it seems to get hung up and keeps clicking for 10 seconds or so after turning off the car.
  6. I get something similar, but I've always assumed it was heat soak. Might be worth some experimenting with the higher timing values.
  7. Somethings going on with this in my car as well. It just started a month ago. It sounds to me like the actuator is struggling. I'm not sure why it would start doing this all of the sudden.
  8. Considering that my TCC locks around 5200 rpm during a 3rd gear pull, I'd say he's incorrect and that transmission is on borrowed time unless the guy drives like an old lady. He very well might be confusing torque converter stall with lockup. Not to mention the fact that "full boost after lockup" doesn't address the main issue of too much torque during a shift. Until we learn how to manipulate the tcu, we can't change what the lockup clutch does during the shift. And that wouldn't even preserve anything during the shifts.
  9. This is what made me curious about it. But as you said, increased flow would just cool more fluid a bit less. The net heat removed would be the same in this situation.
  10. I don't think that has been discussed yet if I'm reading your question right. Are you asking whether the valve body would affect the flow of atf across the cooler? I am curious about that. Would upped line pressure cause the fluid to move through the cooler faster?
  11. The vb mod will not increase temps. Your numbers are as high as what I was seeing without a tranny cooler in 85+ weather after several back to back pulls. I don't think you should plan out anything until you compare the temps your gauge is seeing with the stock sensors. I think I remember your sensors being off by a significant amount when we tested it before.
  12. We can still work out a time to check out your car with freessm.
  13. Best way to get out of a ticket is to call the judge a douchebag. Gets em every time.
  14. Were you being an asshole? That would explain the judge's reaction.
  15. So you didn't take it to court? I got a ticket for 8 over and the judge rolled his eyes mumbled something about his time being wasted and dismissed it. I guess it depends on where you live.
  16. I hope you didn't pay for that ticket. Take them to court and the judge will dismiss them, unless it was a school zone.
  17. Depends on whether I'm in a hurry and if there are cops around.
  18. I think the trans directly drives the rear. The center diff and transfer clutch send power to the front. It's been a while since I've looked at the FSM.
  19. Only with the 5eat. The 4eat could be easily converted to fwd, but that would be lame.
  20. Ohhh shit. Here we go again. Although I agree that you shouldn't wear gloves. They offer no protection from a saw.
  21. BTW, on a dyno graph, they would probably smooth out any rpm variances.
