Official 5th Generation Suspension Thread

If I remember correctly, the Whiteline bushings give you something like 0.75 degrees of camber adjustment, not a lot. I wouldn't worry too much about correcting the camber if you're only going to lower it 1/2" -

he might be referring to the whiteline bushing that allows a little bit of camber adjustment. -

[How-To] Clutch Damper Valve Delete
Rutchard replied to reeg420's topic in Fifth Generation Legacy (2010 - 2014 )
I feel like people started doing the clutch damper delete a while after I was doing my stint at the 1/4mi track, but I didn't have any issues launching the living shit out of my 5th gen with the damper still installed With that said, I'd still probably have done the delete on my 5th gen if I still had it. Right around the time I would've installed the 3rd clutch... -

Did the car sit for a while at some point? Maybe something made a nest in the exhaust somewhere? I've had rodents build a nest inside an exhaust I had sitting outside before... -

lol, that's what I would call it, but the pump still says "E85" The minimum ethanol content on E85 is usually way below the 85% common sense says it should be. Which is why having a way to test the ethanol content is a must for anyone running E85. http://i.imgur.com/lfJIQIE.gif -

lol, there is actually winter blend E85. Lower ethanol content for easier cold starts. My first tune was on a winter blend with about 68% ethanol. Later in the spring/summer I was able to find another station that had something closer to 90% ethanol and had it retuned for that. Car still didn't start for shit on the winter blend in freezing temps -
Unless in the twisties, all the fuel moves away from the pump in the tank... then more problems, lol
-
Even when the light comes on, there are still at least a couple of gallons in the tank. I also had a pretty aggressive tune, so I wanted to be sure I had as much of the good stuff in there as possible, lol. Switching between 93/e85 wasn't the worst thing in the world, but I also had two cars, so it was easier to just leave the GT on E85 all summer. But I wouldn't want to switch for just the weekend or something unless I had a flex-fuel setup that could adjust the tune based on the ethanol content. Hopefully the rumors that Cobb is working on something like that are true. The Delicious Tuning setup would be nice, but it's kinda hard for us East coast guys to get out to Cali
-
E85 all summer, 93 all winter. Switching between the two is a pain in the ass without a drain plug in the gas tank...
-
If I was going to go through it again, I probably would've gone for the ACT HDG6 instead of the HDSS for my E85 setup. Don't forget to factor in the cost of injectors and a fuel pump if you're going E85. WBO2 gauge is highly recommended as well.

As long as you've got a spring compressor to get the stock ones off, they can be re-used. But I found having an extra set makes the install go smoother. Also made going back to stock easier when I eventually sold the car. -

yeah, 225/45/17 is going to look ridiculously small inside the 5th gen wheel arches, same with the 225/40/18. -

if it looks something like this, there's a ball joint behind the boot. http://www.whiteline.com.au/images/products/KLC172.jpg -

Hrm, have a pic? All the Whiteline adjustable links that I've seen have at least one ball end on there... -

Those bushings just can't flex enough for this application. Needs to be something with a ball-joint or spherical bushing of some sort. -

http://legacygt.com/forums/showpost.php?p=5211221&postcount=7 The KB's didn't take his "abuse" too well. I had a pair of KB's in the rear that had their bushings get all boogered up too. Went back to stock endlinks and was fine. I'd go with the Moogs if I needed a replacement. -

looks like they sell them in pairs, so you'd need two of the sets in that link. -

From the pictures on the link, looks like it has the stock BPV location... Actually the text in the description confirms that. "It is designed to work with the OEM BOV as well, or any aftermarket BOV that fits in the stock location. " -

Just remember you'll need an alignment every time you swap out the suspension. That was the point I decided to just stick with one ride height all year. -

^this. I actually have a broken rear endlink on my VW right now. Had a clunk for a month or two, couldn't figure out what it was. Finally got under the car and saw the endlink hanging from the rear swaybar. Still haven't gotten it fixed because I haven't had time to get to the dealership (still under warranty). Other than some extra understeer and the clunk, the car still drives fine. Ironically this is the first car I've owned in the past 10 years that I haven't autox'd, rallyx'd, or even remotely driven aggressively. Also the first one I can remember that didn't get an upgraded swaybar. And this one breaks an endlink -

lol, not like a broken endlink is going to make the car undrivable. "Crap, the endlink is broken, better call a flatbed..." said nobody ever -
