  1. Well... Yeah. They suck. More importantly, they usually stop working correctly and never fully open nor close.

Hmm. I haven't seen that in my own interactions. Granted I like the ball valves, 1/4 turns, etc, but everything gate valve I've ever interacted with has worked properly as well.

  2. Honestly I've been thinking of looking at the numbers for a new aftermarket clutch, versus a six speed with the stock clutch. somehow I think I can trick myself into that making sense... but if so, I'd get a lightly used 16 or 18G for now and see how long i can baby my current clutch of unknown brand/miles. while i save for all that 6mt parts...

I went aftermarket clutch (FX350) and it was bad enough that I swapped to a 6mt with a stock STi clutch 2k miles later

No regrets. Except for the FX350--ugh, that thing was horrible.

  3. just installed mine today. Was a bit confused halfway through because your directions say to install the rails with the wide (taller I'm assuming) side of the long rails toward the INSIDE of the TMIC which makes sense since they are too tall to use the other way. On the diagram pictured though, it shows the shorter side of the rails on the inside of the TMIC.

Hmmm, I'll have to take a look at that. Tall side towards the inside is correct.

  4. The down and dirty--wife and I are both out of shape, need to get into a routine. We both work, have two kids, and live essentially in a home where we have our living room and potentially the garage if we can keep it clean.

How the hell can we work out in our own home while getting both cardio and strength training in? Any chance of a 30min workout of sorts that we could both do together?

I have a set of PowerBlock weights, that's about it. No room for a machine of any kind, although I could probably swing a lifting bench of some sort. I used to do some circuit training that worked OK, but never got into a great routine. We DO have a set of stairs in the house that could probably be useful.

Overall, looking to put together something focused on healthy bodies and movements, not necessarily ultimate weight loss or body building.

    Help if you can?

  5. So this is an old issue, and mostly well documented here: http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/power-steering-o-ring-fix-197481.html

I didn't see any pics though, so I went ahead and took some when I recently changed mine out. Part number needed is 34439FG000, they were $1.85 at my stealership after I told them that $4.xx sounded ridiculous.

First pic shows the area you will be working in. In between the alternator and inlet. If you have an alternator shroud like I do you will want to remove it. Second pic is a bit closer in.

    Third pic. Remove this bolt.

Fourth pic. Over to the right of the alternator and on the bottom side of the bracket. Loosen this bolt just so you can move the bracket out of the way a bit for better access. I don't recommend removing entirely, as there is another bracket on the backside of this bolt and you don't want to drop that. Plus there's no need.

Fifth pic. Now go back over to the power steering side, swing the bracket away a bit, and remove the 10mm bolt securing the line. Don't worry, nothing will leak at this point since you are just removing the bolt. In the pic, you might see that I unclipped the sensor there but you don't need to do that.

    Sixth pic. Your new gasket!

Seventh pic. When you remove the line/fitting, you want to quickly lift it above the level of the fluid reservoir that is all the way over on your left on the fender. This will prevent you from losing much fluid, but have some paper towels / rags ready anyway. Avoid leaking fluid on any of your belts. In this pic, you can see that I propped up the line with a screwdriver against the alternator, worked pretty well.

Eighth pic. Coat your new o-ring in power steering fluid (ATF Dexron III in our case) and seat it COMPLETELY down in the pump. You could also choose to seat it on the line itself, but this is how I did it. If you coat it well and seat it well, either should work.

Then reassemble. The only tricky part is getting the line back in there quickly as it will want to leak once you start to bring it down below the reservoir level. Just put it in place, and gently wiggle until it starts to seat itself and then press it all the way in. Good to go.

Top off the reservoir as needed and be aware next time you drive as the system will bleed itself a bit as you drive and use the steering.

  6. I don't know why, but it seems that Paypal isn't providing people with tracking info even though I'm printing the postage directly through Paypal. If anyone wants their tracking info please just PM me with your paypal name / email and I'm happy to send it to you. Otherwise everyone should hopefully have things in hand by Saturday / Monday depending on whether USPS manages to get things there within 2 or 3 days.
  7. Had a difficult talk with my 20YO this weekend (overall had an amazing weekend with her). I told her she could not have my mother's diamond ring until she is 24-25. I think her BF was going to ask me for the ring over Christmas. I guessed as much and just think they are too young. I want mom's diamond (which is tiny, but just my gal's style) to be my gal's forever ring. Am I wrong?? I really think she is TOO young.

You might not be wrong, but there's probably no chance of you being "right" on this one. Can't make the choices for her, can only give her the confidence and knowledge to make the best decisions possible, which I'm pretty sure you've done.

But yes, I got married fairly young and she is too young, lol.

  8. The updated IM gaskets I installed recently were orange as well and the part number StkmltS listed is correct. I still have a bit of a stumble between 2-3k on cold starts but not near as bad as it was before. Thinking it might be the fuel pump? :iam: And I have one to install in January.

I think this is the "water hammer" effect of the fuel line setup. Adding an inline filter and/or extending the fuel line in the engine bay is supposed to help I think.

  9. Website is back up and should be taking orders. I'll be shipping out kits as early as Monday. If anyone has any issues with the site just give me a shout.

I'll start going through my messages / lists and sending out notifications, so sorry if you place an order and then get a message from me.

    Website is here: https://sites.google.com/site/bptmickit/

Happy Thanksgiving, hope everyone had a good one!
